It is just NCsoft Loss as well as Anets. What are retail stores suppose to do to compete with NCSoft online store?I wouldnt bother carrying their products if they were competing with me.Those who supported the retail end of it should not be discarded. We who bought are games had to pay tax as well don't forget that.

I understand areanet and plaync wants too earn some money through the online shop, i am also willing too buy some stuff out off it. But make it impossilbe to do that for me is not smart. In the netherlands not many people have credit cards and there are no new options yet. So i hope there are comming some new payment methodes before the mission pack ends becuase i would love too have that pack.

well because the rest of us choose to maintain our integrity rather than sell out and 'go plastic' doesnt mean you get to lord it over us.

i have all 3 campaigns and gwen, yet i chose to buy it over the counter and get packaging, manuals etc intstead of a code. does this mean Anet get to take advantage of me?

Life my not be fair, but its up to us too change it

Y'know ... I grow tired of the infighting, caused by those who hold themselves the illusion of being part of Arenanet. There's absolutely no good reason to backstab your fellow consumer and absolutely nothing chivalrous, intelligent or productive about it.

Yes, the Bonus Mission Pack Promotion is unfair, because Arenanet came back from the promise to not make content inaccessible for retail-buyers.
And no, outside anglo-saxon countries, getting the right means to pay in the online store requires to jump through alot of hoops, more hassle than any game is worth; hardly as consumer-friendly as arenanet promised their revenue model to be.

And, yes, the big protest was months ago. If the people at Arenanet aren't aware of the grudge that runs through the communities, they must be far too busy counting their profits.

There is no reason that the bonus content shouldn't be available from the online store. What DOES need to happen is other payment options for people who don't have or are unable to use their Credit Cards in the online store.

That is the one and only unfair downfall to this whole promotion.

that is a very limited view sorry you dont understand some of us like the REAL BOX CD MANUAL ETC...

Would love if they did what the OP posted he is in the same boat as me. I bought them from the store for the box collectors edition for all 3 I have 10 char slots and have no use for the 2 extra they are just PVP slots. I would love the mission pack but what is the point in buying 3 more char slots that will just collect dust?
sorry Anet for likeing your game so much that just downloading it to my PC dosent cut it I wanted the Box and its contents for the Maps, Pins, standups etc.... Got a really cool GW tribute on my wall and sourrounding my computer desk makes the GW experience better.

Oh, I could be completely found for that.
However, there is allready a NCSoft game time card (which can be used to purchase items in Archlord), but it can't be used for Guild Wars. Expanding the use of the existing cards to including GW should be quite cost-efficient.

Actually ... why haven't Arenanet and NCSoft coopted for that? (Please answer that, Arenanet.)

And some of us like to take advantage of online promotions. We all make choices as consumers. You choose to have a box and manual. I choose to have the BMP.

It's a REWARD for using the online store. They have to prove to the head honcho's that the thing is doing what it was meant to do, which is sell products. Go get a VISA gift card for crying out loud.

Therefore, there is nothing left for me to purchase from the online store except the GOTY upgrade. That upgrade is only 4.99 USD and leaves another $25 I would have to spend on something I don't want or need just to get the Mission Bonus Pack. That is the problem I have with it.

If nothing but lack of credit card is holding you back then I do agree you should go get a pre-paid card and get the Bonus Pack if you can. But if you are like me and already have all the campaigns and EoTN then you are screwed unless you throw money away on stuff you don't want or need.
Maybe you should have done some qadvance thinking and bought EotN through the store then???
Iy was YOUR choice to buy it elsewhere and possibly get it cheaper/free tshirt or the box whatever, but it was indeed your choice not to buy iut through the store and therefore I dont see you have any basis to complain that you cant get the bonus from anet.

This was for them to cut out the middle man and make more profit from it so it was a reward or incentive... the choice was yours

If you read the rest of that post you would of seen that I did not have a choice as EoTN was bought for me as a gift before I had a chance to buy it myself. And as I stated, I WOULD of probably bought it from the online store just to get the BMP even though I would rather have the CDs for EoTN. But I shouldn't have to say to my friend "take your [email protected] gift back cuz if I install it you will be screwing me out of the BMP so screw you for being a good friend and doing something nice for me!!!!!" Is that what you are saying I should of done? If so I would hate to call myself your friend lol.

Oh, and nice double posting ...

well, things don't always work out the way you want. Why should anet change the terms of a promotion just because your friend bought you a copy of eye of the north?

What I find disappointing is that it is only availible online. This is the reason I don't even consider playing other MMORPGs. I have a credit card I suppose I could use for this, but for various reasons I really don't want to use it to buy anything online, and certainly not a game.

Put it online and charge $9.99 for it. Put it on a shelf, and I'd be willing to actually buy it, and pay more for it simply so that I don't have to purchase it online.

One problem I see, however, is that this shows a new business model for Anet. Before, you purchased a new campaign every 6-8 months for $40.00, and there was no monthly fee. Anything that happened in the game was free, including relatively large additions to the game like Sorrows furnace.

Now, you're still purchase a new campaign every 6-8 months, but there are no major updates. If you want new, relatively large updates, you have to buy them from the online store. So, while there isn't an actual monthly fee per-say, you're still paying a fee on a monthly basis so that you can have access to additional content. And, on top of that, they're only availible to buy online. So people like me and others who have posted in this topic will not buy them, no matter how much we want to.

I do understand that Arenanet needs to make money. I'm disappointed that I can't play these additional missions, but I made peace with the idea a while ago that some people in the game will have items and access that I don't. I just wish there was some consideration for those of us who don't do the E-commerce thing.

i too had to make that decision and believe me it was hard but days before gwen was released i chose the online store instead of the retail store so that i could GET THE BMP. The questions that made me debate im sure was on alot of ppls minds.. ones like who else will have it , will i be H/H this bmp, will it be fun for me if i have it but most of my friends dont etc ...but in the end i as a consumer made a choice and so did u .. ITs like goin to Toys R Us during christmas season and seeing that new console for half the price but u didnt get it when the promotion was there... go there the day after the sale and go but it was on sale yesterday.. too bad u missed ur chance ...so again i say to the whiners on this subject Quit ur [email protected]

Now for those interested this isnt just Anet makin the move to try to sell more online and promote online infact Most Businesses now try everything they can to get u to purchase more online by adding incentives to u doin so. Perfect example Best Buy, AT&T, Circuit City, Game Stop, babbages, i dont need to go on i think ur gettin the idea. For those who dont know why simple explanation ONLINE SHOPPIN IS BEING CONSIDERED A POSSIBLE POWER WAVE for the future[last most influental power waves were teh automobile , electricity , and phones,] .. ik this bc im a business owner myself and the idea is we want more ppl to shop online makes sales and distribution easier...along with a host of other things .. for instance in mine if u shop online and spend more than a set amount i give gift cards in xx amount of value for spending those set amounts [ie: 50.00 gets u $10, 100 gets u $20 ] however i do not offer the same for the direct retail side of my sales [ will in other promotionals ] but its to get ppl to buy from me online cuts off my consignments and having to keep inventory stockd on shelves. I get ppl all the time that spend a lil less than the amount and will CS me askin if they are eligible for the gift card ... replies are very business like but in the end statin that theres a set amount that needed to be bought to honor the promotion... ive had ppl ask on direct retail side who have seen the site ask if i honor it the same way if they dont buy online, again my answer professional but NO i dont ... they either choose to buy still from direct retail or go to my site and get the promotional deal.

So with that said i hope ive enlightend some, and loved how u replied back to my reply but im gonna leave this reply the same way i left the last one so u can do it again if ud like
Life isnt fair so QUIT UR [email protected]
