An Idea for Community Relations as far as Updates
Now, as we all know, many of the Anet staff have their own pages or accounts here, on the GW official wiki, and on other GW related sites, and listen to the community about what should be done. But sometimes things are implemented that scrape against the community. I'm not saying for special events (I love some of the holiday surprises.), but for gameplay in general.
What I think should happen is a voting system on available updates. Either on the Guild Wars site and is linked to player accounts, or directly in-game.
This could make updates come in a predictable fashion and allow much faster player feedback. I would say the best would be a bi-monthly period (every two weeks.)
It should have a list of upcoming updates to skills and gameplay changes, and allow the community to vote on whether they want that update implemented or not. It would also have the past period's updates and the chance to repeal them, but whether they are repealed or not, after one period's time, that change becomes a locked topic for at least 6 periods.
An example:
Skill: Spinal Shivers/Shivers of Dread. Hex Spell. For X...Y seconds, whenever target foe is struck for cold damage while using a skill, that foe is interrupted and you lose Z...A Energy or Spinal Shivers/Shivers of Dread ends.
Change to: Spinal Shivers/Shivers of Dread. Hex Spell. For B...C seconds, whenever target foe is struck for cold damage while using a skill, that foe is interrupted and you lose D...E Energy or Spinal Shivers/Shivers of Dread ends.
Then two buttons to vote, Change. and Do Not Change.
Though I do realize it would be a large project, it would be an immense step forward in community relations, and could be promoted in the same way the Xunlai House was. An in-game announcement, NPC's, anything to make people want to influence the game and make their voice count.
The one thing I have to stress is that it MUST somehow be linked back to player accounts, so that one player can not vote more than once on the same topic.
I hope this is implemented in some form if not in GW, then in GW2. I believe it would be a great step in the right direction.

Most people wouldn't want to nerf that overpowered skill they use in RA...

In the case of Guild Wars, the majority of the players definately do not know what it best. As for 'community' inside of Guild Wars, it's lacking. To say something scrapes against a community of people that do not interact with each other unless they are guildies/allies or calling someone a noob is an amusing idea at best.
This community has no direction, has no common purpose and has no goal other than to get more gold, get farther in the game, get better armor and weapons and rise in the ranks of the ladder of what is acceptable by their peers. If anything changes something in how these are attained, there is bitching. Otherwise, no one cares.
Example: When party windows came out. No one used them.

lol the few people in PVP will not even come close to out numbering pve players so the overpowered skills will get nerfed just the same, only it will look somethin like this.
change pvp overpowered skill X to balanced skill Y
vote yes-70%
vote no-30%,total pvp player base all useing the overpowered skill (just a example) in reality not all pvpers use the cookie cutter builds
it would be pritty out numbered considering the large difference of PVE and PVP player base, they would have to implimint a seperate voteing system for pvp and pve.
but as for the overpowered combos that people use would not stand a chance in this kind of a voteing process.
I do not agree with this method but it is a very nice idea one of the few that come up on GURU, but democracy is a lie.
In a true democratic society this would work but their are no True democratic society's .

That still doesn't change the fact that most of the info players gain about updates comes from the forums. You can also get the info of the GW website, but it's generally only people on forums who care enough about the updates to vote on them, whether that be here, or their own guild forums. The vast majority of the GW community are happy just to play the game, and don't care about all these skill updates. Unless there's a "vote: don't care" button I stand by my statement.
