A solution regarding Inscriptions.
Recently I did some hard mode FoW when we finally came to the forge, I had to go afk for a second, by the time I came back my party did the defense quest and opened the chest. It was a crystaline drop for me, at first I was offcourse very excited but it turned out to be a +16% while hexed mod uninscripable. I've been playing for 29 months over 4500 hours and this is the first crystaline I ever seen. The dissapointment was great, it being inscripable would have made a huge difference, coming to my point.
Do not make Tyrian, Canthan weapons inscripable, but add a NPC to Chantry of secrets/Khodash Bazaar that makes weapons Inscripable. This would solve so many problems regarding drops in tyria/cantha for being thrown away just because the % mod isnt right.
The npc being stationed in nf would make sense since inscriptions come from nf, this way everybody wins.
Apologies if this has been suggested before.

But for EotN as well, because inscribable weapons drop there too.

Tbh, I don't like this idea. There are weapons that aren't possible with inscriptions, and in the case of shields/foci, weapons that have two "inscriptions" on them. I would like to see FoW/UW drops become inscribable though.

But this would be something that you choose to do by going to an npc to get it done.
The game could easily detect whether or not the item was "legal" in terms of inscription mechanics, and delete any mod that wasn't in keeping with the current selection of inscriptions or mods.
That way it's win-win, don't you think?

While I would love this idea, this sort of makes these "rare" weapons not so rare anymore. Suddenly everyone can have *insert non-inscriptable skin* +15^50 20/20 +30 or whatever people have. It sort of lowers the rarity of these weapons...

And no, I have never seen a Crystalline drop or owned one.

Inscriptions don't lower the rarity of weapons, they reveal how rare a weapon really is (ie how often max versions drop)...

Look, if this idea was implemented, and someone did this to say a purple 19% while hexed Crystalline, then slapped a 15^50 on it, its value would actually decrease. Why? Because inscribable Crystallines would then be dime a dozen, while non-inscribable would get rarer. So a purple, non-inscribable 15^50 would still be worth a hundred times that of a an inscribable one.
I think this is a good solution. In fact, this might be a good way to go for all chapters/expansion. Make everything inherently non-inscribable, with an NPC that can make it inscribable.

So basicly the reasons not to agree are these:
Weapons become less rare and more will be available to the public because the non-usable ones wont be thrown away anymore, thus making them cheaper. Personally I dont consider that a bad thing.
And to comment on the change from 19% while hexed to 15^50 the change will still be from merchant fodder to at least a few k wich is always the better choice. I just dont think this should be a matter of luck, especially since you probally wont see the weapon/shield drop ever again.
But thanks for your oppinions people, they are apreciated.

Actually a great idea I think because it lets people choose. People with rare noninscribable weapons can keep them rare as they are, while those who have imperfect versions of those weapons can get it fixed with a slight dent in its rarity. And face it, while an inscribable version isn't as rare, it's worth tons more to most people if they have the option of changing the inscription should the build they were using with it get nerfed, or if they simply find one they like more, or whatever.
Besides, I've had a req 8 stormbow that I've been aching to replace the useless "+19% while hexed" on...

That is indeed a good suggestion on the inscriptions part.
It gets us more skins of inscribeable weapons without ruining those really are req:7 weapons only found in proph, Factions and FoW/UW.
A cost of like half what the item would cost if sold would be logical though.
So a short sword costs like 2g, because its a common and ugly skin.
A brute sword like 1.x K because its a moderately rare but well liked skin.
A crystalline like 10k.

Ok. So say this get impelmented. Whats the cost?
To make it 10g like customizing a weapon would be kind of stupid really.....
I'd have to be something more along the likne of 1-2k. I mean this really is a game changeing idea.

The best solution would be to finally put inscriptions worldwie like insignia.
But NPCs in GW:EN and Nightfall to inscribe them would be appreciated too.
But remember that inscribed already drop in Urgoz's and The Deep!

True but that would mean some weapons would remain useless and make nightfall less unique since its nightfall content, even if all weapons wich arent inscripable now would be changed to inscripable people would get angry for paying more for that ultra rare +15%^50 noninscrip drop.
On the other hand what price would you be willing to pay to make your weapon/shield inscripable?- 500g
- 1k
- 2k
- 5k
- 10k
- over 10k

I think price should either depend on rarity of the weapon. (100..2k) or being stuck at 1k.
Actually, inscriptions became 'core' when they make it to Battle Isles and PvP.
The Underworld and Fissure are considered 'core' but are actually part of the 'world' of Prophecies.
One thing that must be considered is than an inscripter NPC must remove the modifier of the weapon, without replacing it with an inscription but for a simple Inscription: None empty slot. Since Factions and Prophecies already drop items with 'impossible' modifiers not replicable with Insignia and upgrades.
Otherwise, they must add Inscriptions and/or upgrades to make those impossible combinations possible.

Having an inscribable weapon versus a non-inscribable weapon makes a big difference when you want to sell it. I have this awesome req9 Ebon Gothic Sword of Enchanting with inherent 15^50 but when a potential buyer hears its not inscribable they hit cancel quick. I really wish they'd introduce inscriptions to Proph and Factions(aside from the Elite missions). But that seems unlikely.

And do not forget that most skins drop also in GW:EN.
