Remove "Dishonorable" Status
Hadn't been on GW in a while and I logged in to get some glad points. I lagged into the arena on RA and got tagged by my team as "Dishonorable", something which I had no idea was implemented. What a terrible idea for a game, and there is a prime example why. What about those people that run all defense builds? Are the other players, dead, supposed to wait for a pointless build to die? This waiting creates way more problems than it attempts to solve, and I did not give ncsoft my money so other players could dick around with my play time. Thanks for ruining quick and easy pvp, the only aspect of this game that was still worth playing.

I understand your problem. For some reason my computer has been rejected Guild Wars which makes the loading time much slower than before.
I have been declared dishonorable once for that, it was kind of poopy then I had to wait out that lousy timer.
It has good intentions, just bad projection.

while you petition for this, maybe you can do this so that you don't have to wait for map to load next time.
just thought I help, maybe you already did, look for -image
-image
Guild Wars client is designed to download the streaming updates in the background or when needed, in a way that will not much interfere with the user. This, however means that when a large-scale update is released, users may be required to wait while necessary files are downloaded and decompressed upon entering a new zone. With this switch, you can force the client to download and decompress all the pending updates on start up so you will not have to wait while entering a new area or mission.
Image:Quest.png The client, when started with this switch, will exit immediately after it is finished with the download and decompression. Do not use this switch in your regular game shortcut. Either use this switch from a command prompt when necessary or make a new shortcut and name it something like "Update Game".
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -image

I don't say remove it. You should be be penalized for making a team lose because you choose to use shitty internet, or because you "lagged". Your team got penalized with 1 less person, you should get penalized to give your computer a break with the 5 or whatever minutes that you can't play.
However, I say don't give it to us if we leave if there is no way to be rezed (IE, when you h/h and all rez is used up/ unable to be used, you are transported to nearest rez shrine, meaning the game has the ability to know it's over) and we leave. Also, if we leave when the countdown for losing is going off. Why should I be penalized because I don't want to be sickened at my crappy team staring at them for about 10 seconds dead?

To be fair, I have a T3 line and a comp that easily fits the game specs (and use -image) and STILL slow load. Don't give him crap about his connection. Some networks just don't have proper servers.

I would conjecture that the Dishonorable status solves more problems than it causes. Sure, you'll get heavy-handed treatment if you had an honest reason, but at least you can wait it off... and we all know most people *wouldn't* have had an honest reason.

I'm seeing next to no leavers in RA.
That alone is worth it.

yea i have to say i love the dishonorable status, i have not once ogtten it and it makes for much mnore rewarding ra, no leavers and no leechers. so you get dishonorable because of lag, well that sucks but it is founded as you really are leeching intenting to or not.
so i would say try and reduce lag via -image or shutting down some other programs but it should not be ahuge problem cause i used to play gw on dial up so cable should work it just fine and dsl should be fine too.
and really in the end its 10 mins lol, i mean come on go pve or something for ten mins or, god forbid, leave the comp and eat drink or piss. /notsigned.

Right.... You just lagged a bit, and got reported.
Then why go on with this:

Yes, rage quitters are no longer welcome in RA.
You didn't lag - you were rage quitting. Otherwise you wouldn't mention the second part.

It's not always the user's fault. The communication has to go through all sorts of other people's network equipment that you have no control over. That equipment could be traffic shaping, it could be overloaded, or it could simply be malfunctioning and forcing a longer route.
However, I think the ratio of slow loaders to people that are just jerks is probably pretty low.

/resign anybody?
I wish, however, that you could, as a team, kick other members. For example, if everyone else wants you gone, you get kicked from the team. Then if you're just running around to annoy people, your other teammates can boot you.

i think the timer removed the griefing problem, but you can leave and hope for better luck cause you have to leave several times for you to get dishonorable so leaving once and a while is not bad.

Because playing 3 vs. 4 is soooo much better.
It's RA - 3-5 minute matches, not full DoA run.

If you kick a legitimately contributing teammate it's your own dumb fault you're fighting 3v4. The point is that you can, as a dead group, punish those boneheads who think it's the coolest thing ever to bring a build that can serve no purpose but to extend the match and annoy everyone.
Of course, I don't see why, as a group, you couldn't report the runner as a leecher using the existing tools. If they're not actually contributing to the team, they are, in fact, leeching.

Go read the threads on this topic...
1) glad farmers are for the most part what caused them to implement this so now you can't leave just because no monk on your side or you failed to sync with a guildie
2) there is a timer so if they run defense you wil still win so you can still get you glad point unless you lose to before you get 5 in a row
3) no not wait for it to die, kill it..or if you killed the rest of the other team just stand there and wait on timer to end
4) and none of the rest of us paid money so leavers could ruin "our play time"
5) glad points are not suppose to be quick and easy

If you really dislike a certain group that much, map out.
You won't get dishonored if you do it only occasionally - when you get a really really bad and broken group and have a good reason. I think one is even allowed to map out once per hour (5 points/expiration times, ....). Point being, I have on several occasions mapped out (4 monk groups going against 3 monk 1 rit group) and similar. I have yet to be dishonored or reported, including the times where I lagged out in AB or such.
Too much drama for wrong reasons over very useful system that doesn't hurt reasonable legit players. But abuse it, and you get punished.
The system works because it punishes those it's intended to punish.

I think they should keep it in Alliance Battles, but as for RA, if you're leeching, you're not leeching for very long anyways because the battles are short. Besides, if you do leave, who cares... it's a game, I don't know why people cry so much over it.

Well here's the simple solution to this problem and with Kai Nui's statement. If you don't like the way things are then shut up and stop playing RA and stop trying to quickfarm glad points because it's not supposed to be easy, and it's not supposed to take 1 day of fighting to get the gladiator title (unless your a nerd or someone with a really good build). Things are going to stay the way they are in RA and things should stay the way they are in PvP. The dishonerable status was one of the better decisions of Arenanet and it's not your place to give them a reason to screw up this one!

I love how many different levels of ignorance you exposed to the world with that single paragraph... you don't understand client/server network architecture... you don't understand routing... you don't understand how the game updates itself... you don't understand the purpose of the dishonorable hex.
