Consumable: Capture Scroll
I just thought of this while looking at that other suggestion about a cap sig tome.
The Capture Scroll would be a new consumable that you can buy (like the others: 1 skill point, 250g, and some materials) that works like a capture signet - you double-click it after you've killed a boss to get whatever skill (Elite or not) you want. But, and here's the catch, you can capture from any class (not just the primary/secondary you are at the time) and it only unlocks it on your account, rather than for that particular character (exactly like purchasing it with faction from Priests of Balthazar). This would give an alternate way of unlocking any skill you want, without having to prepare, change secondary, and use up a skill slot. Just carry it with you and use it whenever, wherever.

Not signed, I understand your reasoning but skill capping is just fine the way it is

This doesn't change skill capping in any way. This only offers another option to unlock skills instead of PvPing.

I was liking it right up until the "any class at all" rule. This is a great way to surpass the well thought-out "three pve skills only limit including a cap sig", but I don't think it should honestly behave completely different from a cap sig.

Such a scroll would probably have to cost 1K, or be a semi-rare drop. I would also submit that even if you nab a skill that IS from your Primary or current Secondary Profession, that you NOT be allowed to equip it immediately.
Regardless, I doubt anything of the sort will be instituted in GW1 since for 5 bucks you can buy a skill pack on the online store to unlock 'em all. (If you use CREDIT CARDS that is... grumble, grumble! ...but asking for other payment methods is another thread.) But maybe you can resubmit your idea under the GW2 suggestions and see it happen some day.

OK, maybe I'm not explaining it properly. This would only unlock the skill for your account. It would not be made available to your character at all, unless you were to use a tome. This works as a way to replace purchasing skills from the Priest of Balthazar with faction. It does not replace the use of cap sigs.

That is acctually a very nice idea although i think by naming it capping scroll u confused some people :P
But then again if you want it for one character would it not be easier to just cap it right away? the only real reason i could find for someone to use this is f you have a low lvl character who hasnt been to that place to cap that certain skill and dont have it unlocked on your account so you cant use a tomb.
/unsigned for the reason hardly anyone would use these

Hey, there is one already for the resurrection signet, and that's saving a skill slot too.
So I'm not against this, as long as it's worth more than 1k and 1skill point.
Let's call it... Capture Rune.
It would be a rectangular stone with the Capture signet circular cion in the middle.
Sounds great.

If it also causes the character that used it to learn the skill just as if it was capped by a signet then its a GODAWESOME idea. If not, then it's plain useless and a bad joke.
Being able to cap all the elites while vanquishing, on one run, not affecting your build at all is really cool and powerful, I'd love it even if it was significantly more expensive than a regular Sig of Capture.

I would have signed this pre skill packs, but those pack's kinda negate this idea since it's a hell of a lot easier just to buy them with cash monies.
