Those who want the title, can grind as much as they want to get it.
Do AB, plant flags for hundreds of hours as pure idiots and then feel uber elite because they've been able to repetitively perform an action that whatever script would have done, anything.

Their reward should be only their PvP title.
And the 10M points required are well balanced for a PvP title.


The bad game design is referred to the PvE skills.
All other PvE skills are character based.
All other PvE skills require not more then 15-20 hours to be maxed.

I use only 1 PvE skill on my PvE characters, and sometimes none.
Nevertheless, I like to complete the development of my PvE characters, acquiring and maxing all possible PvE skills.
This is not reasonably possible with Luxon/Kurzick skill, unless you start to behave like an idiot bot.

I leave this to those elite idiots who have no life and can spend hundreds of hours behind a keyboard.

Those people have nothing in their lives, and the only satisfaction in their poor existences is to be able to show how elite they are in wasting their lives on a videogame.

Well, actually their other satisfaction is call this "work hard for something".

There's a reason why there's 20 levels in the game, and you can reach level 20 in just days instead of a year like some other games.

For same reason, any form of grinding should be reduced and instead have the game promote player skills instead.

I thought about it and one possible solution to it would be:
*Untieing it to the Kurzick/Luxon title
*Make it act like it had no atributte (no progression)
*Add some bonus tied to the primary atributte or other atributtes.
*Make them available for only rank 2 or 3 at kurzick/luxon skills

For example:
Ether Nightmare
Hex Spell. Target foe loses 1 Energy for every 2 ranks in Fast Casting. For each point of Energy lost in this way, that foe and all foes in the area suffer -1 Health degeneration for 10 seconds.


Spear of Fury.
Spear Attack. Deals +14 damage and an additional 2 damage for every rank in Spear Mastery. If this attack hits a foe suffering from a Condition, you gain 1 strike of adrenaline for every 3 ranks in Leadership.

Keep this method to all other skills.

What do you say?

really good idea but if you do that thats skills can be powerful

Like 16 spearmaster +1 spearmaster 20% thats 17 spear master +golden egg (for 10 minutes are all you attributes boosted by 1)
thats that 18 Spearmastery
18x2=36 dmg + dmg of the skill that will be an powerfull attack

Well... we have elementalists with Elemental Lord (ele skills +1) and Glyph of Elemental Power (ele skills +2), so its already +3 at ALL spells.
Now lets say they use Golend Egg (+1)
And they get Disciple of Fire (+1)
So far we have +5 at fire.
And have the +1 fire with 20%
At this time a Meteor Shower would be doing 154 dmg with a 20% change of doing 160 dmg.
Oh yea, we forgot Intensity, that adds 25% more damage.
Still want to continue?

With your argument we would have to nerf elementalists right away, because this situation IS possible you know.

Just a note: Spear of Fury deals +20...36...40 damage

Honestly, I'd want to remove them from the title track, and make the two skills different. I have all the Luxon and Kurzick skills on my Warrior, however, since I have rank six in Luxon, and rank four in Kurzick, which one do I obviously choose? Luxon, even though I enjoy Kurzick more. I was just forced to be in Luxon guilds for a huge time period.

I'd like to see them have more a use than they currently are. The only skill I use, is Shadow Sanctuary, the +40 armor, and health regen, but you're blinded. I use it for runs, is all.

One possibility is to add a PVE Skill Attribute, in which you have to spend attribute points to increase your PVE skills. No more grinding.

That would be interesting It would be nice to use the extra remaining points to slightly increase a title track, as long as that 'attribute' can never increase a title track over the max possible.

IMO there are 2 problems:

1. Normal game play does very little to boost this title. Compare to the other PvE skills: sunspear ranks will be at rank 7 just by doing the storyline, EotN titles will be at r4 or 5 with the option to use a book or two on any select title to buff it up to about r7. Also, sunspear and lightbringer will easily be maxed by finishing hard mode while EotN titles will be at r9ish finishing hard mode and dungeons. On the other hand those who finish cantha will have about 50k in their title, not even enough for R1 (this is including the double donation to guild). Even when they finish all of Hard Mode they won't have more then 80k, still not even R1 for finishing ALL PvE content in HM. Even considering that it's an account wide title if you finished factions with ALL 10 classes AND vanquished all HM areas (and that's a hell of a lot of work finishing HM on every character, has anyone in GW actually done it?), you won't have even 1/10 progress towards the title track.

2. The only reasonable way to get it is absolutely skill less. AB is right out, its slow, the mechanics that prevent you from choosing more then 1/3rd of your team suck, and the idea of PvP determining a PvE skill is retarded. FA is the same story as AB, but 1/5 as fast. The only way to really get it is through faction farming repeatable quests which is utterly moronic and completely devoid of skill, as proven by the fact that a bot can do it better then a human. Unless you want to take the stance of bot programming skills > time, there is really no reason for these skills to be linked to grind.

The title it self is fine, people who want useless bling and have 500-900 hours to waste can go for it. But attaching skills to the title was a horrible idea and needs to be changed. Think how much shit Anet would take if for every rank hero you are you started out each PvP match with an extra 2% morale boost. I suggest making it so that for each mission finished the first time your character's base attribute of the skill by 1/2, which means finishing factions NM would net you r6 skills, but to get r12 you must finish HM. At the same time make it so if your title rank was higher it overrides this and counts instead so that everyone who has very high title ranks isn't pissed at losing their skill ranks due to this change.

The problem with this titles is that it is account based and meant to unite the 'efforts' of 10..20 characters.

But not asingle account can play with one character at the same time.
Even after making all the quests with 10 characters, you get around rank 2. In other ranks, after making the quests, you are half the way for the title.

You don't want to grinf for the title ? So ... if it's a char based title.... wouldn't you have to grinf for it ? of course you would.
Furthermore, Anet dit 2-3 things to make this title much easier to level up, and I 'll maybe learn you something if I say you, you can earn luxon/kurzick points in pve wow incredible, of course it's much slower, but you can.

"If you're only interested by leveling up a level fast by farming, then you should play another game" is about Anet's point, and I think doing AB or FA is really fun, just don't be in a rush to get max title and do like me, play AB or FA sometimes, for fun, and after a -long- time, you'll have a decent level, even if R6 in these titles already give you awesome skills for pve ...
