Default 'Known Scammer' List

This is just something I'd like to see because ANet has shown that scamming is not something that they can punish people for, but at least this list would allow players to see who is scamming and just steer clear of them. That way everyone doesn't fall victim to the same person who claims they'll run you through a mission or provide some service, and then who runs off with your money, since most people expect to pay half up front. It could be kind of like the friends list, just a list of people in-game. Anyhow that's my idea, feedback would be nice, just please don't flame me.

The problem I see with scammer lists is there are a lot of people that don't seem to know what a scam actually is. For instance, for awhile on another forum I am a member of, they had a "Black List" thread, and almost all of the posts in there were things like "Such and such tried to buy black dye for 1000g instead of the market value. He is a scammer!"

That is not a scam. If he is explicitly stating his buying price and the item he is buying, and goes through with the trade, following the terms that he has laid out and not misleading anyone, then he is not a scammer.

Also, as so many people have stated already, it's pretty damn easy to spot a scam. All it takes is common sense. Anyone can figure out that you shouldn't drop valuable items on the ground, no matter how far away the other guy is, or that they should always double check trades to make sure they are getting what they are paying for.

For these reasons, I think a scammer list just causes more trouble than it's worth.

Common Sense = Unsuccessful Scammers.

Banning = Punishment.

IMO, if you're dumb enough to drop you gold 15^50 uninscribable fellblade on the ground, then you don't deserve to have it.

Read the forum rules before you post. Posting scammers is not helpful. I really don't want to check a list every time before I trade. Like others have said you would also have people coming on here say "I JUST pAId 10K fOr droKNARS RUn!!!!!!111!!! SUpERdUde IS A scAmMERS."

It'd be horribly abused if you could add to the list without screen shots, and if proof is needed someone has to comb through those screen shots, weeding out the fakes and the non-scams like what Meat Axe mentioned with the black dye, and manually update the list. By that point, the scammer could start again with a different character and you'd never know unless you buddy listed their other name.

There's also the fact that someone might have been a scammer at one point, then straightened up and decided to play right. If their name's on a blacklist, it complicates things.

So no, there's just no reasonable way to work this. /notsigned.

No. We don't allow posting of names here, even if they are damn dirty scammers
