Hardcore PvP Mode
Goes as follows:
Large map (like those of an AB battle) or even (if possible) played in a Dungeon map (only 1 level of course, unless all levels were combined via teleporter instead of loading portal)
Played with 4-8 people
No Radar
No enemy names when Ctrl (default button) is pressed
C and/or Tab will not automatically target or scroll through enemies.
Objective Based combat but fewer objectives than a standard AB
-------------------------
Basic gameplay would be similar to an AB, team starts, and goes out to capture objectives. But unlike an AB you will most likely need to choose your team carefully because straying away from your party can and most likely will lead to your death if your team isn't aware of it.
This is to put more emphasis on teamwork and communication since having no radar etc. will limit a team's ability to keep track of eachother.
Having no Ctrl and no C/Tabbing gives people an incentive to use cover and terrain to their advantage, now if you hide behind a hill or wall, your opponent may not actually notice you and continue on. Changing style to a more versatile state of going from 1.) Take Objective by Force to 2.) have a small 2 man unit sneak behind enemy lines and engage specific targets (kinda like a GvG gank, except the other team won't be notified when it happens)
Just trying to throw out some new PvP ideas, could always use some changing up for some random fun.

I'm sorry to be a bummer, but I don't know what makes it "hardcore" or fun. It just sounds like that would be annoying.

well i took the word Hardcore from a similar gametype for Call of Duty 4, where Hardcore mode removed your radar, HUD, etc. etc.
And just because you wouldnt find it fun, doesn't mean other people won't, if you don't like teamwork then this isn't for you :/

I don't think it has anything to do with teamwork though. People would have to use their mouse to distinguish the difference between friend and foe. I think that would only make people frustrated. If you had to go to Ctrl-C instead of Edit>Copy it wouldn't make you some PC expert. In fact, wouldn't it be the other way around? If you can use functionality to improve your game, that makes you a better player.

I never said that Alt would be effected, you would know who is your teammate, you just wouldn't be able to immediately distinguish a foe.
Alt = shows allies, Ctrl = shows enemies? understand?

Sounds similar to online shooters that require you to find your opponent by site and sound rather than by a radar, and highlighted name. However unless you can implement shooter style controls for your attacks and spells (as cool as that would be... maybe a gw2 suggestion) then... this isnt realy viable.
nice try though, keep the creative juices flowing

Most of your changes are client-based. So a smart guy would be able to make a hacked client to bring them back again.
So... no way.

Why does everyone so far emphasize on killing in their posts...it is about using teamwork to capture objectives.

Because real PvP is often about killing.
