Default Promoting Religions Should be Against the Rules!

Everyday I see people out there Saying

"So and So Christian Guild Recruitin" "join and learn and love jesus etc etc yadayada yada" and they spam Crap like that about any Religion over and over again.

I think Religious Guilds and Promoting things like that should be against the Rules. But the Question there is why hasent it been?

First of all its all useless Crap and just pisses people off and cuases spams and floods within Zones

Second of all, aprrently only some Religious Groups/guilds etc can be promoted. I knew someone who was Muslim and he promoted Muslims to join a Guild and so they could do their thing and teachings etc etc and he was Banned for doing so. Also other Religions people I met were Suspended/Banned for doing their thing.

So the Question is why cant all this BS be against the Rules and delt with?
Becuase its stuipd to turn off your Public/Trade etc when people bitch and argue about Religion on GW its pointless Spam and unfair for those who were banned becuase they promoted Religions I guess Anet did not agree with.

If it's just a (Insert Religion of Choice Here) Guild recruiting, I can't say I mind that too much. It's people who made a guild to add others with a similar interest/belief, and that's pretty much the purpose of guilds to begin with.

HOWEVER, individuals who spam that everyone in a district should follow 'x' religion because it's "the right thing to do" and other vague reasonings should at the very least receive temp bans for their behavior. It's usually very obnoxious, and wholly uncalled for.

/notsigned against them not being able to recruit.

I dont have a problem with people looking for like minded players.
But I really really dont care if your a big fan of pokemon or have found a religion to follow.

Spamming is spamming whatever the content.

Pretty much the same that others have said.

/not-signed against religious guilds - that's fairplay.

/signed against the spamming

And who are you to decide the conditions a guild sets for its members? Saying people should be X faith is one thing but recruiting a guild of like minded people be that hobbies or religion is another.

Also the supposed muslim guild you speak of sounds like a weak unlikely excuse you added to try and get your point across.

I don't disagree with religious guilds, so long as they allow ALL religions, not just the major ones.

I DO however disagree with how some guilds choose to advertise their recuitment. It is little better than community wide insults. I think this should be regulated.

who cares if they talk about religion its freedom of speech and that is a kind of topic that keeps public chat flowing. You either like it or dont. For the people who do they enjoy it, and like to participate in fun chat. For the people who dont can just turn all chat off or just not plpay the game. Its and online world where people are coming from all walks of life. Just deal with it.

I agree with this vain of thinking.

Having religious people come together under 1 guild is fine. Heck, having some sort of "theme" is a great way to keep a guild together.

Default Deal with it

People come from all walks of life in guild wars because its an online game. Players should have the tolerance to except others beliefs, no matter there religion. It is ok for a guild to recruit christian or any other player with that religious background because they have preference to play in that same enviorment. This goes the same with people who only like to recruit people with r9+ or higher because of the preference of skill level. Learn to tolerate others beliefs, and if u find it annoying to look at in all chat, turn it off or just dont play the game

I'm someone who has more respect for others believe. You on the otherhand are a hypocrite. You state you want the focus of a guild regulated because its what YOU want, then you insult Anet for doing things because they can. Clearly if you could you would ban alot of people because they are members of a religious based guild.

Default /signed for not spamming your religious beliefs keep it to yourself.

Don't spam, maps hey maps is spam reversed.

anyway, spamming is bad, spamming with religious/political purposes worse.

I think it is okay if you say, join my (insert religious guild name here) guild, we have cape, and full hall, does pvp, pve, is fine, but if you starts saying join my so and so guild jesus love you, god is great... then please stop.

I personally want a guild that say embraced Balthazar! MMORPG PEOPLE, KEEP RELIGIONS AND POLITICS OUT OF IT. SHEESH. THERE IS ENOUGHT OF THOSE CRAP IN REAL LIFE.

thanks.

Hate to break it to you, but you do not have freedom of speech w/in ANet's little world. They control access to it and they can decide who can or cannot speak and what is or is not acceptable.

As far as the religion thing goes - I could care less. Most official religious institutions disapprove of the kind of content GW includes - undead, brutal killing, other gods, etc, and so it's sort of an oxymoron to even be playing the game...

Last I checked, it didn't say anything about religion in the EULA and Anet is an American company and theoretically believes or at least acknowledges that first amendment thing we have, otherwise it'd be in the EULA. In most parts of America, the 1st amendment is implied.

I don't work for Anet, so I wouldn't actually know their stance obviously.

But last I checked 100% of the trade channel and 99% of local chat is either spam or crap anyway, no loss in turning either off. Party window for your trades, it's easy, I swear.

i would have to agree, having the "<Religion name here> recruiting <religion name here> players, we do PvE and PvP" is AOK but when i start seeing spam like "jesus is our savior!" "all praise the lord" after the recruiting line it gets annoying to say the least.

I always start heated debates with them by saying "I am a nihilist" even though i am not. :P

On another note i have seeing an increase of PLAYER names that have a similar ring to it like "Jesus Saves U" :/

The 1st amendment is NOT implied or protected at all, and it's why there can be a chat filter and why people can be banned for improper language.

To me, the issue is not one of religion, but one of conduct. If a religious guild, for example, can do their recruiting politely and respectfully, then there's no issue. If they proclaim that members of other guilds are heathens or you'll go to hell for not joining their guild, then I'd say action is needed.

Your last statement is spot-on, however - most of the stuff in local/broadcast chat is garbage, and I just write it off as such...

As stated before, religious guilds should be allowed to recruit in a proper manner.

As for "religious spam", hateful, disturbing spam of any kind should be banned, not just the religious variety.

/notsigned, because spam like that is already considered bannable behavior
