Starting Fresh In GW2 not so good
I really dont like the idea of not being able to bring toons from all the other gw's i have alot of time and game coin into those charaters. you should really take a second look at that before making the game that way. Im sure there are a huge number of people that feel the way i do on that subject have a nice day

I'm sure a lot of people don't like it and it is one of the reasons I will stay playing GW instead of GW2 unless GW2 is much much much better than GW.

For the record, I disagree - starting afresh in GW2 is a good thing. A clean slate will let everybody start out on the same level. Plus, GW2 is supposed to be set a coupla hundred years into the future, and I don't think that any monk could let our characters cheat death for that length of time.
At least ANet has given us the Hall of Monuments. Even if we can't take all the effort we've put into our existing GW1 characters, we can at least take some of that effort with us. Exactly how things will be transferred via the HoM hasn't been made clear yet, but not everything will go to waste.

The question you need to ask is how many MMO sequels allow you to directly transfer characters from their predecessor, and what the consequences of allowing high level characters to immediately start a brand new game would be.

In the start Anet promised us an ongoing storyline, an adventure you could journey across as what i think most believed one single character, that you put your soul down into. This made alot of ppl buy the game and spend huge amount of time on it, if they hadnt made such statments, well... i would have /not signed in this thread, but doing so now would not make sense to me.

Fresh start is good IMO, dunno bout you guys but i've used all my char slots and I want more chars... so gw 2 will be a good starting point for that. Just hope i can wait that long. What I do think though is that ANET should rethink what goes into HoM. Elite armours are good, but what about high end weapons across all campaigns? Such as the Tormented items, possibly greens? I mean the Destroyer weapons aren't all that impressive at all and that's all that we're limited to...
Happy Crimbo btw

First of all, anet delivered the on-going story line. Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the north. You can take the same character thru all 4 of those without the need to even make a second character so lets not try to claim that Anet did anything but make good on that promise.

This point is laughable at best. Anyone that bought the game actually believing that when a sequel came out they would be able to just take their maxed out character into it is obviously very new to video games. There are VERY FEW exceptions out there and I bet that most of the people here couldn't name more than 2 games that have allowed you to do this.
Every time I see a thread about this all i can think is that there are a bunch of people that have wasted a ton of time or alot of real money getting a stockpile of in game cash and shiny things that they are pissed about not being able to take with them. Funny how it kinda works the same way in the game and in real life, When its over you can't take it with you!

A fresh start is something that this game, and a lot of its players need. If you are so attached to your characters in guild wars 1 that you would refuse to play guild wars 2 then that says something about your priorities. These games are made to be a form of entertainment, and a source of fun, not a way to build collections of meaningful max. characters.

Philosophical problems with this notion aside, I sincerely doubt it's going to be possible in any reasonable sense considering that GW2's mechanics are going to be completely different. The classes, skills, attributes and such are unlikely to remain the same or readily comparable, even if somehow your character did live for 200-something years.

No item transfers
No char Transfers
HOM can be still standing in your honor of past achievments, and maybey ghostly heros of your characters?
Nothing from GW should go to GW2
For 1 reason and 1 reason alone
We dont need people already starting off with 1 million and such and driving the market up scaring away everyone.....
I know many people are not going to like this

To tell the truth, I'd love to level up again and redo quets, quithout losing titles and learned skills...
Ah... that would be cool.

It'd be nice to level the playing field, start fresh. Of course, I'll be left in the dust within minutes of the game going live, but it'll still feel good to get in at the ground floor, so to speak.

I've reached 1,000,000 gold, I've beaten elite missions, I've maxed titles, gotten everything I think is adequate to play GW and experience it whilst having my "personal" level of fun. Quite frankly, when you get to the top, theres nothing left to do. So I look forward to a fresh start.

While I don't think there should be any real power difference for continuing in GW2, I would like to see some cosmetic bonuses in armor/accessories that are linked to the HoM and are only available to those who played previous campaigns.
