GW2 suggestion make titles more obvious
One of the problems i've come upon in this game is that new players or people who have just leveled to 20 or finished a campaign don't seem to understand that there is somthing more to strive for. Right now i've dropped all my other title projects and am recklessly farming and questing for candy shards for the end of the year 9 rings games, but most people i've come across don't seem to understand why i would bother.
To the uninformed played i'm just gathering candy shards to get funny looking non max weapons. I have had to inform countless people that the shards are for the end of the year game and its to increase my lucky and unlucky title track.
I applaud A-net for making this either game based on sygnergy so that no time i spend working on one thing would ever be wasted without contributing to another. -I make sure all my alts go to vabbi in the nighfall campaign for the trade contracts for the vabbian armor for my main. But i feel as though not everyone is as "Enlighten" as me to see other rewards that can be interelated or any long term rewards as well unless they physically see more art associted with it.
There was no mention of titles in any of the storyline, it just seems to be somthing i had to research myself to appreciate. if that was the original intent then i can only say that guild wars makes a person smarter and that the people who play have a higher IQ than players from another mmo.
Still, after answering many questions about what titles are i really do think you're giving people more credit than they deserve when it comes to independant study. While guildwiki is a good step forward, i think some spoon feeding is in order, if only to ignite some desires for conquest.

You should make a petition to rename Guild Wars 2 to E-Peen Wars...

titles, they shouldnt be included in gw2
pve skills linked to titles are guildwars equivalet to gear grind in the other mmo
how bout we provide meaningful content that doesnt have to rely on the old cheap trick of 'doing the same stuff over and over' with a twist (ie titles/HM/etc) to provide longevity

Titles should be dropped. All they say is, "I wasted more time than you, haha!"

no, i hardly feel you're enlightened at all with this synergy idea of yours...if your alt is getting trade contracts for your main, in the end you will need to waste time getting trade contracts for alt if you decided to give it a vabbian armor....the same goes for your candy canes...you are farming them, there really is only one objective at the end...

I mean to say the inheritance of current titles to gw2 from gw1 should be something a little more public so people would have an idea that they arn't wasting time for absoulutely nothing. The sygnergy involve in attaining multiple titles in gw1 should also be made a little bit more revered because its fun to realise that this connects to that. I wasn't much of a pvper until i realise that the balnazzar (sp) faction could be used to unlocks skills for heros which i could use on any of my characters, or train directly for my on characters, then use those heros and their skill combos for missions i previously could not master.
This interlinking aspect of the game to acheive a final mark that would be carried on and rembered as somthing solid, and it would just be a shame to waste ,even a causal person would want their time spent to be remembered.
You're right that it is somewhat of a cheap trick to do the same thing over again even though title grinding is a choice, but titles as a goal is already here so lets allow the people who are hardcore at heart but lack direction to finished the game to their hardcore standards.
i compeletly agree that it should not be tied to the title based skill cause it would reflect a time over skill which contradicts everything that guild wars has stood for at the start.
the worth of the grind is obviously measure in the reward you get at the end and we are talking about an optional multi grind for a mermory that you'll have forever, compared to warcraft where the items you grind for lose their vaule as soon as the next expansion comes out; a grind that even making a new character to max level and gear is a grind; a game the makes a grind out of factions without titles attached; and even grinds your own crafting skills before you're allow to grind to gather the materials to make it.
that's right in world of warcraft you have to grind a gathering skill or grind gold to get the mats to grain up your skill to make armor/weapons that won't be worth anything ass soon as the next expansion comes out, or the devs release somthing else to grind for.
trust me i've played the transition between wow and the buring crusade, only playing now till my account expires can't even grind another character to 70.

you see the reason to make alts is to have more skills avalible for you heros and have an idea of how to arrange those skills, different missions require difference heros and difference skill combos to make it easier to master such as putting shadow prision on zenmai in that nightfalls mission where you had to kill the scout before he calls for help as part of the bonus.
yes i am farming candy canes shard, but i'm doing it mostly with the seasonal quest on my level 15ish characters so i'm also leveling them and their heros at the same time.
If i recalled i think that aside from the heros skills that will help my mains hard mode missions later on, i'm getting 2 account wide title objectives at the end; the lucky and unlucky title track, for you to not know is proff enough of my point about how people just are not aware of titles and the sygnergy in getting it which is what makes this game fun.
what the.. no i'm not going to want to get vabbian armor for my alts, its kind of obvious if i'm getting trade contrats for my main i'm not going to get it for my alts isn't it?

given the time spent playing the game, i realize i change my mind about what i want or dont want quite alot.....i never thought id aim to get fow armor but hey, i did.....if u consider so many things as a secondary accomplishment u really could argue the point that it gives u a tertiary accomplishment of warmth and satisfaction, in the end its still just one objective driving u to complete another, there is no synergy....

I like titles as that side option to do something in the game, not the first and foremost important.
Sure, any added benefit is nice, however, I rather play the game then play "earn the title" to play the game.

You'll see Exalted with the Stone Summit and Hated by the Dwarves.
No, just drop titles. Might have seemed a good idea at the time, but all it is is E-Peen fencing. I spent X more time in GW1 then you, so technically I am better than you in GW2.

Titles were fine in factions. Vanity items for grinding that mean nothing... it was no different from expensive armor sets or "leet" weapons.
It is when NF and GW:EN made titles mean something and provide benefits with skills (and to a lesser extent, the treasure hunter/lucky/wisdom titles for salvaging/lockpick retention) that the game became more grind filled.

I am fine with titles for cosmetic reasons, but when they actually affect your game people should start worrying - which is what I'm doing.

What's wrong with titles? They're cool to show off, showing you actually did something in the game besides beat a campaign.
And how will titles/HOM work in GW2 anyway? same way? And armor, all armors dedicated in your HOM will be available to your GW2 char? I'm confused. hehe
