Well... a bow of marksmanship can give you an extra +1 20% of the time, and in some campaigns you can kneel at a rez shrine and buy another +1, I think. If we were talking about necro/ele attributes, they also have temporary buffs as well.
Regardless, you aren't going to get and maintain 2 attributes at 20...

Yes but there is no way to maintain it there as you later pointed out. The way to get it anywhere near 20 and 20 is all about luck and chance. Ya they may get lucky and get a +1 on one skill, that is 17. Now get the blessing from the shirne you still are only at 18, or atleast one is. And since we are speaking of Rangers there is no way to get it past that. So there is no way for the attributes to be set up that way.

if you want it to hang around set it to defensive so he wont die.
If you want the pet to tank take the skill for him to tanking.(because *gasp* you dont get a free tank)
If you dont have the point and slot mean your build dont work time to change.

Tell me, how many attribute points does it require to go from attribute rank 9 to rank 10? From rank 10 to rank 11? From rank 11 to rank 12?
FYI:
from 9 to 10 is THIRTEEN points.
from 10 to 11 is SIXTEEN points.
from 11 to 12 is TWENTY points.
Notice some eerily similar numbers?

Pets are companions, not just another weapon. Teammates are companions, not just another weapon. I see too many people take pets and no way to heal or rez them. It makes me want to jump their cases when I see this. If you aren't trying to keep your pet alive, then be penalized for their deaths. You are "penalized" when teammates die by having to carry a bigger load or having to stop and rez them. Same should be true for pet's death. If you don't want to waste a spot for Comfort, then don't take Charm.
My $.02.

Amen agreed and what the OP doesn't realize is that the death of your loyal companion pet has an adverse and immeditate effect on the mentallity of that ranger. Thus the 8 seconds of mourning so to speak. Think about if your best friend (your dog) got run over by a car would you keep playing nude volley ball?

When people post attributes, they generally post the number in the little box. The screenshot you posted shows 13 in expertise and 12 in marksmanship.

No, you're dumb. Read the thread and you will understand he was trying to figure out how tender wolf got the numbers 20, 16, and 13 for attributes.

I wonder if the OP thought he/she had 1 in every other attribute, since that's what the little up arrow showed.
I also wonder if the OP found him or herself doing very poor damage w/ weapons while leveling up, since it may have shown a number higher than the req for a weapon, yet in actuality they weren't meeting it's req...

Woo. I accurately explain what the hell Tender Wolf was on about, and I get blasted twice for being "wrong".
Good job Guru users.
@Tender Wolf:
Didn't you notice that the attribute points required to raise a rank suddenly increased a lot? From attribute rank 7-8 requires 9 points, and each rank above that increases by far more than one point.
Anyway, I believe that the pet recharge is ~1 second at the very high end of Beast Mastery (15 ranks, give or take 1). That duration of skill blackout is fair enough.

Although you may be the perfect GW player that has over 5 mill xp on 8 or more characters, with 0 total deaths in guild wars... ever, not everyone is, things happen in the game that catch you off guard, or are unavoidable. don't tell someone to be perfect just because you're ignorant

As I am sure you know but I will say it anyways for Tender Wolfs benefit. Your attribute number would be the one in the little box. In Tender's example the 12 and 13. You never post builds by how many points it take to go from 10-11 or what not. Therefore because the OP was dumb and doesn't know how to correctly post attribute levels everyone was confused and resulted in flames. As for Phantom he did read the thread and interpreted the 20 20 the same way most useres did. As tender saying that the attributes were both 20 20 which everyone knows is impossible. Had it been posted correctly then the whole situation would of been avoided.

the penalty is hardly killing, if sometime it happen no biggie, if it happen constantly well...
1) dont take the pet
2) dont let your pet die.
this mean the pet is not something you take around for free.
its a extra 500hp meat shield.
to show it it take a skill slot, to make it usefull it take more.
its like saying
"wow is so annoying when your char die you cant do anything, i even need to wait a ress."

the attribute is the thing in the box, the 20 is the "attribute point" you get for lowering the attribute from 12 to 11.
