What is so good about unlocking every skill? Anybody can do it...If they learned how too farm instead of just beg all day for spare gold.

/notsigned for those who are wanting to change the currently character based titles to account based titles.

BUT the basic idea of more account based titles.

If there are going to be more account based titles, please make them extremely hard like the other titles, but not requiring all three campaigns to achieve max level of the title. The account based title should be more something that can be allowed getting not just on "special events" (gamer,(un)lucky title) and not PvP/GvG/ect. based.

I still think wisdom title should be account based at the very least...but thats just my opinion.

I'm completely all for more account titles being brought out though, I agree there aren't enough.

I think most people want the wisdom/treasure title account-based so all their characters will have the salvage bonus. Yet if only one of them becomes account-wide, wisdom for example, people will still be transfering stuff to their treasure hunters for the bonus stack, rendering the whole thing kinda pointless. It would have to be both or nothing.

/signed for both being account-wide. Yeah treasure hunting may be easy, but 10,000 chests for the max is a lot of damn chests.

I bet if they did make an account title for unlocking all skills, Anet would be selling more of the PvP unlock packs .

Additionally, please make the following titles account based:
* Lightbringer
* Sunspear
* Treasure hunter
* Wisdom
* Skill capper titles.

and probably some other, that I forgot about. The game shouldn't force people to play only one character, even if it is only PvE. Playing only one character promotes ignorance, which I for one, would like to avoid as much as possible.

I would make account-wide those that can be acquired in the Battle isles or by PvP characters:

- Drunkard. You can get spirits and sweets in PvP events or send them to battle isles via Xunlai storage.
- Sweet tooth. Same as drunkard.
- Seeker of Wisdom. You can put all gold items into storage, and identify them all with the same character, even a PvP character.

Other account and character based are fine for me.

Yes its intended to show experience and knowledge! For that individual character!!!

As I said before in another post. Lets say you have an elemental with 100% on all 3 compaigns. How does it make sense to let your Ritualist show that title, if your Ritualist didnt explore those areas?

Lets say your elementalist has protector on all 3. How does it make sense to let your Ritualist show that title, when he might be in a training area and not even kiled anything yet?

PvE titles are character based, because those characters earned them.

If you give a lvl10 Rit, a protector title, you have no way of knowing whether hes actually a decent player. The title is obviously for another character, and he might be rubbish at using a Rit.

Titles show your experience, your ability and your knowledge for that character and its profession. Its evidence that you know how to use that profession.

You could be be an amazing elemental with KOABD, but your rubbish as a Ritualist. If you share that KOABD title with your Rit, players will see it and assume your good at being that profession.

Its miss-leading.

Do you are a good PvP Mesmer who achieved Gladiator? It makes sense every new mesmer u create can wear the title. But not ur monk

I must disagree with the skill capper title being account wide... i have capped all the skills on a single character(with my mesmer ) i do agree, however that playing only one character promotes ignorance.

Elite Skill Capping: It should not be something a character can display unless they have all the elite skills available to that character. --not only that but it shows that you have gained that many skill pts (experience) and have invested a good chunk of cash.

Treasure/Wisdom: i can understand these being account based... 10,000 chests is alot... this is way more expensive a title to gain than the skill hunter title... its about 1000 per key (take a look at lock pick prices in that other thread...) thats 10,000,000 gold... thats some mega farming. -- as for wisdom i just move over and id all my gold items to one char... over the past year im up to about 220 gold items and 170 chests...

Lightbringer/Sunspear: you can get them just by doing the quests and doing the vanquishing titles (so long as you remember to get the bounties). there is no real need for these to be account based

BTW /signed for a UAX title...

I would like to have a few more titles being account based, it would give myself, a casual player, more incentive to earn the title, as the characters I use heavily change constantly. Being able to use the same titles as I use different characters would be nice. That's why I am still working on the Kurzick title track.

I think its absolutely rediculous to think that someone playing one character is ignorant. Gargle Blaster, you yourself said you had a mesmer, so you should know all to well. Anyone playing a Mesmer, for example, only is gonna have to learn so much about the game in order to be fully effective. Same goes for anyone playing any class seriously. They have to learn the mechanics of the game, and how things work. Mind you, some people can play the game seriously, but use cookie cutter builds and never experiment on their own.

I think that the skill hunter should be something that is character based, especially with the new introduction of the tomes. I do however, think that the Wisdom and Treasure Hunter should be account based.

I do see both sides to it though. There is a valid point in a player who spreads their time playing multiple characters to have their titles spread between all characters (especially those that provide an in-game bonus). They, the player, spent the time running various characters through areas to unlock the chest, or acquire the gold to identify. But for someone who focuses on one character, it makes sense that the titles should be character based.

An Idea that I would like to see, is a duplicate of every title. one account based, one character based. What I would say to do is, in order to acquire an "account title" you would be required to have a minimum of two characters working towards the titles. if a character was to unlock a chest, they would get a point on both character and account tracks. But the number of points per character being used on the account would have to scale so that you would have to use multiple characters to do it, you couldnt get the account wide with just one character. So you COULD have a character that was a "Character: legendary Skill hunter & Player: legendary Skill Hunter". Obviously, it would need alot more tweaking than what I stated here.

Skill Hunter shouldn't be account based.... use your frigging head. How can a title based on capturing all elites in the game on a character be given to your account!

Treasure Hunter/Wisdom should be though.

Judging from the WIDE range of opinions posted on this thread about which titles should and should not be account based, its clear that a.net can't please everybody. If they changed one title now to account based, but not another, some people would get even more upset that the title THEY wanted wasn't changed. Frankly, its kinda just wishful thinking of everybody just expecting to get what they want. Rather then cause any controversy, I say leave it as is and don't rock the boat. If it isn't broke, don't fix it (the skill hunter title split reccently actually makes sense since it allows people with only one campaign to still go for the title).

I don't think character based titles make much sense... after all it's the same player that got them... There is so little reward for the time I spend playing on my account compared to the time I invest into a single character. If they wanna do something right they should add all the current points we have in our titles spread over our characters together and make them all account based. They are after all achievements that I as a player achieved... why would I only be able to show them when I'm logged on with a certain character?

I agree with this.

I have 9 characters and if I don't play with my main one I feel I'm loosing opportunities on the treasure hunter title (which can be very expensive). So this current system is making me not really enjoy my other characters.

why would it be? Your ele didnt do the same things your necro did. If your mesmer is your main char and has captured 100+ elites and your monk has 10 elites why would the monk get the title? If your monk hasnt been past senjis corner but your mesmer has been everywhere and has 100% explored why would your monk get the cartographer title? How can he have 100% if he has never been there? If the monk has found a whopping 100 gold items but your mesmer who has the other two titles has found squat (30 golds) why would the memser get the title? What you want is an easy title that you can wear all the time on all of your characters. If you want the title do the work. Next they will want survivor on the pvp char thats died 1000 times because a pve char has it.

Thumbs down Sunspear Title = Forced Grind

Well, if titles are optional that is one thing, but the Sunspear Title is compusulary just to move on with the game.
As is right now, YOU CANNOT EVEN PROGRESS IN NIGHTFALL WITHOUT GRINDING A LV7 TITLE ON EACH CHARACTER!!!

By the time a normal player reach command post they normally have barely ~ 1000 pts or less, which makes at least 1500 more pts are required PER CHARACTER to reach that requirement of Sunspear LV7. This translates to over 12000 points overall even if you only have 1 character per class (8 class)...
It is a requirement of killing close to over THREE THOUSAND MONSTERS of 4 pts or taking more than A HUNDRED SIDEQUESTS of 100~150pts in Krouna.

Faction's account-based method was much much better. By the time all your characters reach House Zu Heltzer, just go through barely a quest per character you are already done. No grinding is required to progress the game.

If anything, at least the Sunspear Title should have been account based. The rest? At least they are just optional.
