I think this is a great way to promote a more communal attitude on Guild Wars as opposed to the usual MMORPG selfishness. Sure we all want what's best for our own characters but say you get a few coloured dye drops after all 6+ of your characters have several 15k armours dyed perfectly already, or a few extra crafting materials that you don't need, or just that spare 43g.
I do realise that guildhopping theives would be a problem but a time limit (like you have to have been in the guild a week/month/whatever before using Guild Storage) would help to limit that. Perhaps 'reserving' items for paticular players (Warrior A finds 35 Monstrous Fangs for Necro B and puts them into storage but only Warrior A and Necro B can take them out) would help too.

lol just like have the leader designate how much money ur allowed to withdraw and then like have him designate how long un can borrow and item like put and item time meter on items selected for *borrow*(so the when meter runs out its automatically ported to bank) and have one selected for *keep*
and the leader designates how many items u can withdraw w/in the time span of like 1-3 hours to prevent robberies

guild storage would be a very nice addition to a guild hall, and an idea of increasing its size depending on the number of guild members is good aswell. but make the guild storage quite small for 1-person guilds to discourage people from leaving theirs to create a new one just for storage.
Size upgrades should be purchasable at certain guild sizes, for example adding the feature to gh is 50k, then a 5+ person guild can pay another 50k to increase the size, then a 10+ guild, and next stops at 20+ and 40+ (just examples)

problem with that though, what's to say the guild leader won't take everything? I suggest a popup before putting something in the bank saying 'are you sure you wish to put this item(s) in the guild bank? every player in your guild will be able to access it. i'd also like a 3 week session before you can take items from the bank, to prevent people joining, taking and leaving.
sounds good though, itd give me somewhere to put my 12 stacks of wood that i'm slowly turning into parchment.. whereas a guildie could use it for better needs.

I think about the issue of restriction, I think that as long as you have a guild leader and officers you can trust (which is why you're in a guild, to have a few people you know at hand), its a good idea. If a guild member feels the bank is being abused, he/she doesn't have to contribute to it. ^.^;;

We have a Guild Storage account. Characters created simply for the purpose of holding items for other Guild Members. I do not think a communal storage is a good idea as I am sure some of the younger or newer members who are not used to how our guild functions, or someone who is kicked from the guild might abuse it.
When an oficer is playing (and we now have it that there are officers available both mornings and nights,) anyone can ask for an item or put something into storage. I, personally have a character created on my own account for the express purpose of holding items. However... even with 2 bags and a pouch as well as the Xunlai storage, room is scarce if you have several characters that you hope someday to outfit in top of the line armor, runes, weapons etc.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to equip a bag with the 10 slots, fill it then place the full bag into ONE slot in Xunlai storage? Then to access the items in the bag you merely exchange the full bag in storage with one you are carrying, long enough to get the items out that you need. For those of us who like to keep a goodly supply of salvage items as well as rare crafting items, weapons and runes, this would be heaven.

regular members can't have access to this since it's exploitable
only the guild leader and maybe certain officers should be given access to the true guild storage/bank
members should ask officers or the leader if they need something lol

Exactly
If you cant trust your guild leader then you are not in a good guild.
/signed for guild storage/bank where only leader and or officers can access.

A certain passage of EVE Online springs to mind...
What if you invite someone proposed by a guildmate to your guild... the one invited is actually a double agent working for another rivaling guild wanting to give your guild hell...
lemme link you.
Read this article
Then after reading this tell me if it is such a good idea.
Ok in guild wars there is no corporate wallet but if there woudl be something implemented as a guild 'Bank' then i say no thanks

Just to expand on this idea. It would be great to have a shared guild storage with a ton of space to put things for the guild to share, especially with the new need to ‘equip’ heroes. It could also promote more active guilds where things could be ‘gifted’ to the guild members. This shared storage could have four tabs on it:
a. Open Access: Anyone can take from this tab.
b. Officer Access: Anyone can see the items here, but only an officer can take from this tab, which means a non-officer would have to ask the officer for it. Option on the item slot to grant ‘take’ access to a guild member (reward).
c. Leader Access: As Officer, but only the leader can give it out. Option on the item slot to grant ‘take’ access to a guild member or officer (reward).
d. Materials Tab (for those who have over 250 in their own.

Storage is limited to prevent characters from gathering too many gold pieces in them.
But in our guild, we have a rule about not to sell anything to other members.
One of the officials have a character only for storage.
He saves and stores green weapons, materials, runes, even gold.
Why should a player waste a character like that?
Just add a 'Representative of Xunali' NPC in the Guild Master list to buy, that would give the usual storage upgrades, in addition with the '100k' alliance storage option.
After that, you'll have spent 100k buying the NPC, and another 100k unlocking the feature, for a total of 200k.
After that, like previous said, The leader would have total access to the storage, and there would be some tabs, one for all, one for officials and leader, one for the leader, and one for materials and unlockable items.
In addition, there will be another tab, but with no storage, but a LOG with all the items put in and out by characters.
It will be just a list of names and items:
- Taruu Tara took away 23 bolts of cloth.
Moving an item from one slot to another would not be reflicted here.
Adding an stockble ittem would count as taking the original andd adding the rest. Adding 10 piles of bone to 15 piles of bone would be reflicted list this:
- Paro Maru took away 15 piles of bones.
- Paro Maru put in 25 piles of bones.
Those logs would last some hours, 24, 36, 72... and will be visible by ALL the members.

Only the guild leader should have access and any officers that they want to have access as well.
Anet promised and I want it! Of course Gaile said that we could make canthan characters in Nightfall and she was wrong there.

How many times have I needed extra materials? Pretty much every time I need new armor. How much extra material is lying around in all of my guildmates' personal inventories that they have no intention of using? I assume a ton, since I know that's true for me.
To those who oppose the idea:
I agree that a lot of people aren't to be trusted and that the concept could be easily exploited. My answer is: if you don't trust your guild then don't put stuff you care about in a communal storage account. Simple. Those who are foolish enough to share with strangers and end up getting robbed, tough luck.
