New Condition 'Deaf'
I have an idea for a new condition within the game. It would be called 'Deaf' and the effect(s) would be:
1. Vocal skills used upon the deafened player have no effect.
(skills dealing with anthems, shouts, refrains, ballads, etc...)
The ways in making a player deaf are only limited by your thoughts, but some of my ideas are: Melee skills that target the head (for 30 secs. the next attack to foe's head causes deafness for 3...12 seconds), mesmer skills that cloud your sense of hearing, blasts of air that deafen you (air magic would gain more popularity ;D), a necro skill that fills your ears with blood, or anything else you can think of.
Please share your thoughts and ideas/skills relating to this proposed condition.
Thanks for looking,
Eragon of Aleria

Hmm i think rather than adding new melee skills to cause deafness.. any strikes that hit the head (there's a certain % for each body part) would cause it. But then that'd more likely relate to daze
/notsigned until more practical ways to apply it come up.

Initially I thought it was a decent idea, but I really must agree with Turtle222, the poor para's (and most profs atm) have been bashed senseless recently. As it stands, this is Paragons primary focus, they gain energy from these vocal skills being heard by allies, take that away, you may aswell remove the profession. It would also be hard for para's to be "party support" when their effects are not felt by the party. They would be drained of energy much faster, would be less of an asset to teams, and everyone else will be loading up on deafening skills until they wipe paragons from use... Okay, maybe that's a lil dramatic =oP
The idea still has merit, but I just think it could damage the para profession way too much, and would also hurt warrior support with the popular "watch yourself" etc.
so a /notsigned from me i'm afraid... Maybe a /signed if para's weren't in GW, less repercussions then.

Anet should have thought of this before blanket nerfs to Paragon skills.
Won't work now. /notsigned

How about this, instead of ALL vocal skills being disabled, maybe just 1?
Just an add-on idea that won't totally destroy paragons. Seem more possible/balanced now?

this is what i think should be if you are deaf shouts are not heard from more the 1/2 the shout range
it would be small
but some skills that could cause it would be
"charge"
thunderclap
etc...

The next shout that buffs target fails.

How about shout removal skills? Like an ele skill along the lines of blinding flash that instead of causing blind, is composed of a loud sound that removes any shouts or chants from a single enemy. There could be AoE versions that cause exhaustion on the caster, melee versions (shield slap, where if you are wielding a shield you hit it with your weapon next to the opponent's head to cause temporary deafness.), mesmer skill Tinnitus...etc.
A new condition that causes shouts or chants to last half as long would be interesting as well. it wouldn't just nerf paragons, it would nerf warriors as well. Then they could put aggressive refrain and WY! back to their original functions.

if a creature suffers more than 1 conditions, he can't hear, and if that creature has 3 or more conditions, all chants, echoes and shouts are removed. (positive and negative ones, aka- if you have 1 conditions on you, "fear me" cant do shit)
How about dat?
If you want a real counter to paragon, implement what I've just suggested instead of some crappy conditon just to counter 1 specific things.

What are you, like Trollus Flamus Maximus?? Seriously, this is close to the stupidest thing I ever heard and is sure to draw the most fire. The paragons (and warriors to some extent) would DIE AS A CLASS. PERIOD. I would beg to say that approximately during 1/3-1/2 of all of your fighting you have a condition. So paragons would be useless all of that time. Do you see the problem?? Plus, it just doesn't make much sense at all.
Why so much the paragon hate? I really don't think that the all paragon GvG teams work as well due to numerous nerfs they've already received. So what is your deal with them? If anything, they should focus on more important things, like Mystic Regen.....

err.. that's just an example of a kind of "general counter," instead of wasting a skill slot for some crap like "vocal minority." Maybe increasing the number of conditions a bit or whatever. You got the idea.
The numerous nerfs you says are like "oh noes, they hit my paragon 321 times with a feather!!!!" Well, that is also the way they deal with derv.
Btw
I like that

I can the legitimacy behind this condition, but it's just that warriors don't really use shouts that often and paragons have been kind of wailed on...
I have a paragon and don't really use it because they've been nerfed to hell.

Great idea, wrong time. Like we've heard before Parargons have gotten nerfed enough already. This would destroy the class. It's a shame that a good idea such as this can't be used because of the recent mods.
