I think they're fine as they are... however, maybe have the character's birthday reset them to their original state - so, once a year you get golds + plat? That would be a nice additional birthday present.

Nobody outside of Anet employees knows HOW they work. However, you seem to have done no research on what has been learned about it. Do some research BEFORE posting there is a problem to be fixed. It works fine for me, and lots of other people. If it doesn't work fine for you, it is 99% sure its because you don't know what you are doing.

Read it, click the links, and read those, and then come back if you still have problems.

Omg.. stop crying..
IT'S FREE.
ANet has never stated when the chests reroll.
From wiki:
The most likely theory for treasure resets is that if you attempt to open any chest within the month following the last access to a Treasure without waiting the full month, the timer resets for approximately an additional month for that character only. This means that if you attempted to open the same chest every day, you would never get any treasure from it apart from the first time you opened it.

I think you would be hard-pressed to call running for 2 minutes "effort". You hardly need a running skill as long as you know how to avoid aggro.
I just bring Fall Back on my paragon, and maybe Charge on Koss and run around for a while.
