Improving Heroes skill bar.
Hello everyone.
Most of plyers who play with hereos and use them, makes them use a certain skill at a certain time, disables a skill to use the others more oftenly, should have noticed some problems with how their skill bars work.
1: When your hero is using a skill and you click at another skill or at the same, the skill beeing used is interrupted and he starts using the skill you selected (even if you clicked the same)
So if you are using a Ritualist hero and you plan to make him use Shelter, if he starts using Shelter by his own will and you click it at the same time (considering lag and etc) what will he do? He will start using Shelter, he will cancel it and start using it again (wasting 25 energy for nothing).
2: This second problem an extention of the first. When your hero is using a skill and you want him to use a skill right after, you cant order him to use it after it by just clicking as he uses another skill. Like said previously, it will cancel the skill beeing used. Not to mention that even if you wait half of a second to click the skill, he should be using another skill, therefore it will be canceled, even if its the same skills you clicked (like said at the first problem)
3: They dont obey your commands! I noticed this a few days ago, i ordered my paragon to start ressing me (even after clicking on me) and he didnt started using the signet and left me dead for about 30 seconds. Not to mention the weird behavior that some heroes present like charing in even at Guard or Avoid Combat. One of my heroes, at GvG, charged into the opponets base all by himself at Guard mode (i did not flagged him or ordered to use an attack skill)
So seeing and observing these problems i propose improving the hoeroe's bar by adding a new click system wich would be composed by these types of clicking:
Click
Double-click
Chain-click
Cancel+disable
Click
Click will the main type of... click. Clicking at a skill would put a V at the skill and the hero would use that skill as soon as possible without disrupting his current action. If he cant use the current skill at the moment, he would wait for the moment to use it and will not use any skill until he is able to do so.
Double-click
When clicking a skill that already has a V on it, the hero will start using the skill right away if possible, disrupting the current action.
Chain-click
This is basically just a sequence of the first type of click. They would follow the first click's principle (not disruptin skill, using as soon as possible) and the chain-click will be canceled if a skill is double-clicked.
With chain-click you will order your hero to use the skills in a sequence. The skills selected will be marked with a V1, V2, V3, V4 and etc. And the hero will use the skills selected from 1-4 in order ONCE.
If the skill marked with V1 is used, the V2, V3 and V4 will be turned into V1, V2 and V3, any more skills selected with a normal click while the chain is active will be added to the chain (becoming V4, V5 and V6). This way you can continue to chain if needed or wanted, without disrupting the chain or confusing the AI.
note:This system will not make your hero keep on using the skills all the time, you will have to chain-click again in order to get a sequence.
Cancel+Disable
This is nothing more then an upgrade from the original disable system we currently have. By holding Shift and clicking into a skill, your hero will disable that skill. If the selected skill is beeing used, the hero will cancel his action. If that skill is part of a chain, the whole chain will be canceled (this way you can have a way to cancel a chain if you need to)

If I were to post anything in this thread, it'd be a copy+paste of this quote.
Anet should really take these suggestions...

Having them cancel a 1s spell when I tell them to cast something else is really annoying.. especially if it's the same spell.

I love this idea. Guard Mode/Avoid Combat really don't seem to do anything atm, Dunkoro set to Avoid Combat still runs around and aggros stuff.
Heroes like General Morgahn and Master of Whispers generally completely ignore flags.

I hate having Heroes cancel skills when I click on their bar, especially when it's the same skill I'm clicking. Biggest problem classes are Ritualists, Necromancers and Elementalists (longest cast times and most expensive skills).

The general AI of heroes has degraded over time imo, even a small improvement like this would help.

I like it, though I am at the moment actually trying to find hero builds that do not require me to micromanage as much, mainly cuz I'm plain lazy.
I'd rather be able to pre-program my heroes to use skills in a certain way.
