Miniature emotes
[Scribe mode on]
Some time ago I wa talking to Mahk in kamadan about this, he somehow liked the idea and told me it could be done, but he told me that he don't know if more people would like it too, so I'll give it to you, and we'll see if he adds this to miniatures:
[Scribe mode off]
The idea is to add a small array of 1..5 emotes that makes miniatures do some things. I will list some examples here, then you can decide if they would be a fun thing to add or not:
/minispeak : The currenty miniature makes its 'noise'. 'Human miniatures would say one of its famous lines. No effect inside cities.
/minicombat : They just change their idle animation.
The miniature enters combat stance and stays that way until you...
/mininormal : ...enter this another command.
/minidie : The miniature makes a small dying and resurrecting animation. No effect in Soul reaping.
/minifollow : The miniature stops running around and chase the owner like henchmen and heroes. This would make the miniature also try to copy your emotes if their mode have them, like Henchmen do. So, if you bring a Koss miniature, it would dance if you do, but not if you bring an Asura miniature, that do not have dance animations.
Of course, not all miniatures would have all actions, much like not all action toys have the rocket punch or mobile limbs, but I think it would be pretty fun to have those things in the famous ingame toys.
There could be something even more simple:
Just by adding something after an emote the miniature will do it instead of you, for example, the something could be the letter M, a +, an =, etc.. For example
/dance M : If the miniature odel has a dance, it makes it.
/jump M : If you currently shown miniature has the dance emote, it makes it.
And so.

I'll try not to put this in an insulting way:
I'm sure the devs have more important things on their minds, and not much people care about minipets to begin with.

It'd be great not to have just miniature emotes, but also miniature interaction. Basically the miniature reacts to your emotes, when you sit, it sits. When you dance, (if possible, mimic the dance) or do its own miniature dance.

More important things? Like the Abbadon dance easter egg? Like the collector dances? Like the
Well... I can tell you something about games:
- Useless yet funny stuff make them funnier.
Minigames, easter eggs, trivia, references to other games and or movies, etc...
"They are the spicy spice that makes life extra nice..."
XD
Please, leave the decision of 'we have no time' or 'we can't do this' to developers, they are the ones who really know that.
Just answer this in this particular thread: Would anyone have fun with this?
- Well... If i can make my Shiro minipet spew his lines like:
* BE GONE!"
* "His blood has returned me to my mortal body."
* "I have returned!"
* "No one can stop me, let alone you puny mortals!"
* "You are messing with affairs that are beyond your comprehension. Leave now and I may let you live!"
... in the middle of a battle, I will sure have a bit more of fun, XD.
Hey, I have no power to decide what does get in the game, but I can tell what I find funny. Can't you?

Aera...everything in a game has a point. That's like saying "Why makes games ArenaNet when there's other things to do." It's all for entertainment, and it's the small things that make the game fun to play.

yea if you havent noticed anet is all about being goofy, and thats why i love their games. lets see a quest called "Drakes on the plains" with lines from 007 strewn within, a dwarf named Kilroy Jenkins that runs like an idiot into mobs. HELLU anet are a bunch of goof balls and this seems right up their alley

the rest, except maybe for dance, no one that's not you will care about your minipet changing idle states.

Yeah; think of the poor people in town who are already forced to keep emotes and local off because of your assorted idiotry. This is just more crap to make people hate going into towns (Marhan Grotto especially; dear god...).

I already thought of that:
"No effect inside cities."
"No effect on Soul Reaping"
And, of course, miniatures are completely muted inside outposts.
I hate spam too!
I don't want a bunch of people spamming the emotes and bothering people, alas, they can already spam their own emotes, and I have sometimes to toggle the emote chat log off to probe that.
With those, at least only 20 people in the district would be able to do that, and the emotes won't show in the emote chat like the player emotes.

Yes...obviously the emotes won't show in chat people. That'd just be stupid. It will do absolutely nothing except make some people lives a little more fun. It's not like you HAVE to watch the minis emoting, and it won't spam up your chat.

yea and plus the faults of the few should not banish the many, really cause there are some idiots that spam does not mean you have to tailor everything towards not spamming.

as long as it doesnt spam or if it could only be done out of town then maybe. I already hate going into towns due to the large number of naked dancing idiots. Or the one idiot who kept trying to rock/paper/scissors hug me while i was at a merchant. (I would have loved to stick a nihils dagger in his toons eye) But if its not going to spam and its just simple emotes i dont care. I wonder what my asura would do.

Don't worry, since those emotes won't show in the chat panel, they can't really control where the pet is when they trigger and the miniatures are much smaller than players, they won't br able to annoy other players, as long as it is made with the rules we have already said in this thread. Along with the 20 miniatures per district limit, that should allow people to show off their minipets for fun, but prevent miniatures from being a bother in districts.
As I have told, I personally hate pointless spamming and abuse of emotes.

nice idea, but I agree with aera. I honestly think that other ideas here deserve more attention from anet's time. And no anet doesn't have an infinite amount of time since they're working on gw2. I'd rather have a hero ai update, a fix to hero battles so that it doesn't degenerate into AB tactics with 4 people, or any number of ideas that may not occur because this gets implemented.

I read "no effect on soul reaping". The animation will just get spammed.
