You're TELLING Anet to bring in a monthly fee? If you wanna pay for it go play WoW.
This is a retarded idea IMO. It's like saying "Ok Anet heres how you can sap more money from us..apart from the BMP (which i got through promotion so meh.. anyways) ...You can just allow us an unlock pack to unlock all Elite armors for a character.
/Not signed because it's a retarded idea.

Mini-pets are meant to be a sign of either your age or your Guild Wars wealth, not how much cash you can buy in Real Life(tm). You want Anet to encourage Real World Trading? Might as well go to Temple of Balth Int 1 and buy some GWgold from one of those many sites.
As to a monthly fee, they seem to be making good enough progress without one, and I'd like to see some proof of

Although I agree that there must be an unlimited source for all miniatures, I would never agree with just give them to anyone that pays for them.
Birthday miniatures do already have unlimited sources. No problem with those.
For the rest, contests, extremely low drop rates in end-chests or from the creatures they represent, or even being able to 'craft' them by using a lot of expensive materials or things like those could do.
But just pay to get?
XDDD
No, no...

Theres already this option. get ebayed/botted money for real cash and buy the minis from sellers.
*note, if Anet catches you then you will be banned and anyone who knows what happened will have a good laugh, so its not really advisable.
but as the others have already said, its a sign of either char age, or ingame wealth, Id also add also a sign of real life work for the contest winners

It would be like changing what minipets were "meant" for. Contrarily to skill unlock packs.

No matter how secure you think you make something, there is always a way around, you will always see botters and what not in a game where in game currency has a value. If money on the other hand wasnt the main factor in a game, that would be a different story, wether they buy minipets or whatever they use em on.

Mini-pets represents your Guild Wars wealth? Please refrain from uttering nonsense. Mini-pets are signs of representing a character's age? This is hilarious, what if you are in a situation where you have sold off all your mini-pets and someone ask you to display a second year mini-pet? You can't, can you? Last of all, what's makes you think they can't change the way mini-pets are given? Did they stated it in their Guild Wars User Agreement?

From this comment above, it clearly shows how ''mature'' your mindset is.

Apart from the Bonus Mission Pack. Why did you say that? As there wasn't any other option of obtaining it then, is it not? So now the Bonus Mission Pack is due to release in the online store, giving players options of obtaining them if they missed the promotion. So why can't it be done for players who want to obtain the third year mini-pets as well if their oldest character is only a year odd other than buying from in-game?

Firstly, you seem to be putting a lot of importance on mini pets and I cant say I know any players who "bot" purely to gain the gold to buy them.
There may be a big market for mini pets, but its no where near as huge or influencial on the market as you seem to be suggesting.
But even if it was, who cares? Most mini pets are a mear 5-15k now and its only the rare ones which are more... as it should be.
I'm signed for adding a normal mini pet pack to the store, but not if it gives people the rare green, purple of gold pets because those are intended to be rare.
Also where did the monthly fee comment come from?
This game does not need a monthly fee to support it in anyway shape or form. It works great without one and from my experience GWs is a far more stable game then WoW.
I've been kicked from GWs less times then I have WoW.
Sorry but you idea is nonsense because your trying to make a big deal out of something, which isnt a big deal. Plus I didnt really understand the pvp part of your post either.
Some things are meant to be expensive in the market, its called an economy and commerce. If everything was cheap, there would be nothing to drive people to earn gold and pump it back into the market.
And sorry but are you a games developer? are you a programmer? do you have any experience in running a company or running an online game?
To so casually sit there and dictate that Anet isnt doing enouh to stop botting is just offensive to the entire Anet team who have probably put hours and days into trying to track down bots and remove then from the game.
Its very limited what they can do, to prevent them and find them. They have to trall through endless amounts of data to find signs of bot action.
The solution is NOT to just make everything cheap and give it away in packs at the store, because that is then unfair on those players who dont have real world cash to spend on them. I know I couldnt afford to keep buying pack after pack after pack in the store and I would feel a bit miffed if I was missing out on something fun or important.

I seriously wonder how dedicated you guys(developers) are for your game, especially since it is only Guild Wars 1. It seriously dampen my anticipation for Guild Wars 2. Secondly, it also helps to generate income for running the servers. Why? After experiencing the release of pvp unlock packs and latest of all the bonus mission pack for us to buy, I pity all those players who spent most of their time pvping to get balthazar points in the past, especially when they have forsaken part of their social life or the lack of sleeping sufficiently. This pack is rendered useless in pvp and applicable only in pve partially. I wouldn't suggest this if it weren't for the unlock packs that were available already, and also the fact that districts are being merged to save bandwidth recently. Which is pretty hilarious when a monthly fee could just be included and be done with it in the first place.

Bots and farmers have been here since the start of the game, long before mini-pets were introduced. I don't think it would do anything to stabalize the in-game economy.
ANET has said again and again "No monthly fees." They must be doing okay financially with the current model.

That's not what the OP said is it. You said ALL minipet's..i agree yeah they should have a choice, just as we should get a chance to get all the Festival hat's we never had..but still, it's just another money sink.
