I bet the majority of the people in here have, at one point, wanted to change their character's name... but because it was pve and having invested so much time into that character, they just continued on playing with the same, boring name. Some people probably actually DID go ahead and delete their 1000 hour 1,000,000 exp character JUST to have a different name (I'm a victim of that).

PVP characters never have to really worry about losing anything. Just delete, recreate with a different name, and load up the armor.

I know a proper way that this could be done, without having so many different names going through the system: make changing a character's name just like registering your account with a specific name, and allow this once a month for each character. That way, at the beginning of the month if you feel like having a different name, you may do so, but would have to wait till the following month to change it again.
