They are still wands you know(swords that fire projectiles) so you couldn't sever,gash,final thrust anyone with holy damage.

How about Holy/Dark/Chaos damage Sword hilts etc.....of course they should be available for all other martial weapons. Thoughts?
I'm wielding a Holy Crystalline Sword Of fortitude! Already got the picture

I agre with something like a club, a quarterstaff, a knuckle or a gauntlet, But not Swords. Swords are Warrior stuff.

The problem with wands now is that they have a stupidly low crit rate. If they functioned like normal weapons and scaled slightly with more healing prayers/fire magic/illusion/etc etc, it might be worth shooting those little orbs around.

Wands that look like scythes and hammers? Swords that resemble staves?
Hell yes. I'm all about the variety and customization.

I like this idea, but it might be confusing if you're a warrior and try to use a Ritualist Katana, or whatever, only to find that it's a wand...
Oh, well.

I believe this is for caster weapons but I don't really see a point in making these. Next you'd have to make weapons like ranger melee/spear, etc. since they are also commonly used...
It would be nice if they were like a diff. weapon exactly then already existing martial weapons.

what comes next..profession based shields ?, profession based bows ? profession based focus items ?
>.> silly idea imo...
when you want to have a character that fights with swords..make you a warrior..so simple is that...

ya the holy damage/chaos dmg etc. wouldbe pretty overpowered when put onto a melee character.
A warrior running around with a damage type not many have defence against = pwnage

There should be 5 caster equipables:
- Wand (ranged, one handed)
- Staff (ranged, two handed)
- Quarterstaff (melee, two handed)
- Scepter (melee, one handed)
- Focus (off-hand)
We have 3 of those.
Remember the Hammers faking quarterstaves the Bandits and Renegades had?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Image:Renegade.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bandit_Raider
I say we could make those real 'Quarterstaves':
* Maximum damage range: 6 - 27.
* Damage type: Depending on req (caster attributes).
* Attack rate: 1.75 seconds.
* Modifiers: Inscription slot, Quarterstaff Caps (name prefix) and Quarterstaff Wrapping (suffix).
Scepter
* Maximum damage range: 7 - 21.
* Damage type: Depending on req (caster attributes).
* Attack rate: 1.33 seconds.
* Modifiers: Inscription slot, Scepter Pommel (name prefix) and Scepter wrapping (suffix).
The Mesmer rapier would be a 'scepter' looking like a sword and with slashing damage.
A chaos edge could be similar, but with chaos damage.

I think this is a good idea.
after all, casters are already using spears/sword/axe + shield in pvp, so why not make then their own.

Why not just use the ones already in place? It's not like you are using them to fight in melee range...

Don't you think so. When I use Point Black spells with my ele, I use a melee weapon to always be in adjacent range to the enemy. Otherwise I may be casting without being in range:
- Move to enemy, cast, move to enemy, cast.

Holy dmg isn't armor ignore you know? It's just not either Elemental nor physical. That mean Warrior and Eles won't have advantage. Which most Warrior know well that they should use an Air Sword vs Warrior and Sundering/Vampric Sword vs Ele.
To OP: I don't see the point really. To be honest the wand is better because of range. There won't be any improvement in either PvE/PvP.
