*petition* keep us in the same place
would this be a possible feature to be implemented?
if we leave a town/outpost and logout can their be an option to make it that when we log back in we stay in the same place we were standing instead of back to the town.
its really annoying that when i log back in i have to do that long walk all over again!
also let this feature be optional, if we wanna stay in the same place or go back to town when we log in.

Would monsters/drops and all that be remebered, if not it would be kinda usless, youd log in surrounded be ennimies and you could just keep logging out and faming the same very close be mob... If it did remeber it would strain memory.
One of the points of outpostes is the fact we cant do this.

This is not implemented for a few reasons:
1. It would require extra memory/storage to keep track of where every character of every player last logged out.
2. Sometimes the devs need to change the layout of a town or outpost. As a result, a player may have signed out in what is no longer a valid location. This would necessitate another feature to check if your previous location is valid and move you to another valid location as needed.
A better option would be to implement a few spawn points in each town and have you appear at the nearest one when you log back in. This would avoid the issues above but still leave you closer to where you want to be when you log back in.

What Biostem said, that's a lot of crap for GW to retain just to cut ten seconds off your game. And no, /notsigned. Trot your happy ass to storage like the rest of us.

I think this will be added in Guild Wars 2, but I definately don't see it happening now. Yes it would be nice, but I can see why they won't do it. So I'm kind of neutral here.

"that long walk"? There are only a couple of explorable areas that are not directly connected to towns. Not gonna kill you to make the trip again.
Secondly, do you know how much more server space they would need in order to do this?

As others have said, its not needed and would just waste extra resources.

This only happens in other MMORPGs because they either:
A. Have a larger server
B. Don't use instances
Since Guild Wars has neither (they run on lowest server power possible), this isn't possible or required.

If you don't give yourself enough time to complete your task in an explorable area that is not Anet's fault.

It would be an unnecessary luxury wasting and using resources ANET doesnt have.

I'm not even gonna attempt to explain instances, bandwidth and the problems that occur in MMO's when you are partying with other players and want to "pause" the game because the above statement just proves that the OP isn't mature enough to understand any of it.
Mods please close.

Agreed with above, it's a pretty big waste of time.
One of the first rules of GW is to only start a mission or quest if you know you have the time to complete it...more relevant to when you play with humans I guess, because it's just bad manners to leave with the line "sry guise mum sez its dinner time".
Explorable areas in Guild Wars aren't that big...It doesn't take long to walk back to where you were...and if you're vanquishing something, just make sure you set a good 2 hours aside for it.

This had me rollin, I swear Ive seen that exact line a hundred times bad grammer and all. ^^
In order for Anet to implement this change, it would require more resources, resources not used which spares us a monthly fee. Other MMOs remember your exact spot in an open persistant world because essentialy according the server when you log out your still just standing right there, albeit out of phaze. Trying the same thing with intances goes against the nature of the instanced zone.
I'm gratefull I can come back at all when I loose connection and start back up where I had just left off.
