Guild Hall Trash Bin
Why not add a trash bin upgrade to guild halls? It's basically just a storage that auto-deletes item in it older than 24h. If there's something you don't need but you think it could be of value to others in guild, maybe that's better than just merchanting it.
There's a similar request of adding a Guild Bank. Although this is distant related, this is a much easier solution. Devs don't have to consider implementing security issues, like who can access what, if new players can just clean out an entire guild's storage etc. Since this is a trash bin, it's free for all who can access it, including guests and alliance members.

Or you could yell in Alliance/Guild chat offering it?
I don't like the idea of rooting through trash for stuff really

I like the Idea and I would push it further.
I would have something like a Xunlai chest for it where you can drag items to and whenever you enter your guildhall, a small message would display
"There are 3 items Available in the Community Bin!"
Or something like it
I would probably agree that the contents of that bin should be left there for something like 1 week maybe, 24 hours seems short

Well you don't want to shout in ally chat for all mods you don't need etc, that would get annoying. Better then to put in a trash can.

This sounds good in theory, but what is to keep the same person from always coming in and looting the trash bin for their own selfish gain of just merching the items for gold for themselves? There are very few trustworthy people in this world, no matter how well you know them.
I think that if this was implemented, that there should be some sort of cap of how many items an account would be able to take in a 24hr period to give everyone in their respected guilds a chance at the freebies.

There'd have to be some way of limiting how often you can take things out. Maybe once every 2 hours or something? Also, make the deletion period longer than 24hrs. Make it like a week or so so you would have more time to get things for people that don't play as much as others.

I don't think its a good idea...a guy who would have wanted it might come on after 25h and it would have been deleted. And if it was deleted, it would have been just better to sell it, and at least earn something for it. Maybe have this idea, but without deleting items.
Until then,

Get a guild web page and have a section where you can list items you want to give away and where others can ask for items they are after.
Asking in guild chat isn't always convenient as not everyone is online at the same time while those who are online could be busy.
As for one guild member looting the trash all the time, if you have a guild member like that then they shouldn't be allowed to remain in the guild.
If there are many in your guild like that then you are in the wrong guild.

The only thing I have against this is a bit of loss of contact between guild members.
No more asking 'who wants this'.
But since it would require some storage to exist...
Hm... maybe it could be just 10 slots and new items make the older vanish.

Encouraging sharing is a bad idea. Besides, in every guild, people will just re-sell it. As you can already give it to random people, I don't see this as worth adding.

sometimes people arent on when you offer items in guild or alliance chat this would be a good way for them to be able to see whats out there if they need it
