Never heard of dyrads bohya? Cause it seems pretty obvious that sylvari are the GW version of them.
Standard characteristics
-spirit
-can materialize
-preferred activities: laughing, dancing, teasing travellers
-always appear as very young girls
-is the incarnated spirit of a tree(s) or a familiar
- known to transform into vegetation, can also pass through vegetation as if it where air
I'm not saying Anet is going to copy/paste that, but it'll give you a good idea about what to expect.

Wrong! those are nymphs.
While a wood nymph is a lot like a dryad, however a dryad is a fey creature of the forest(literally).
Their bodies are made of plants and/or animals(belonging together in a natural fashion, not a Frankensteine stitched up fashion)
Most Dryads command nature to some extent and are quite ill pleased with the way humans treat it, most are quite short tempered and fused, unlike friendly and playful nymphs(that refuse to understand travelers may need sleep)
Driads aren't spirits, although their not entirely worldly creatures either if I recall correctly. They usually do look like women(at least in upper body) because of a stereotype mother nature reference I think.
Albeit having a skin of bark and hair of leaves/tails.

you're wrong lol Dryads ARE Nymphs.
Nymphs are nothing else, then Spirits of Nature and for them gives it different forms of Nymphs..
Land Nymphs, Wood Nymphs, Water Nymphs and Wind Nymphs *others talk also about other Nymphs, which fit to none of those Nymph kinds ...*
Each type of them have own Names, they are mostly known for:
Land Nymphs > Alseids
Wood Nymphs > Dryads
Water Nymphs > Nereids
Air Nymphs > Sylphids /also known under the Name as Sylphs
but they have also many other names, which specialize more into the Elements and Regions ect., but these 4 are the 4 most known names for Nymphs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nymphs
Look under Wood Nymphs, you will see there Dryads at the TOP
*myself a bit dissappointed, that the article has nothing about Air nymphs , but regardless*
PS: I don#t think so, that the Sylvari will be a Female-only Race, I'm relatively sure, that once GW2 is released, we will see sooner or later also male ones, otherwise how should this Race populate then ??? XD
I don't believe in Flowers % Bees Sex rofl ^^

Well they are tree/nature spirits, flowers and bees just might be the way to go.
Though I too doubt Anet will make a race without a sausage option.

Yeah, well, you got male and female trees/plants too you know. It's all about who provides the sperm and who provides the egg.

I'm well aware of that, they both have flowers though and they both need bees (well most of them do) and do you really see male plants creating boy avatars? (the whole point of creating humanoid avatars aside)

Ah I get it now. Would indeed be kinda weird seeing male plants creating boy avatars, but who knows what Anet will come up with.
