"Fixing" HA idea
- Blood spikes - Necros could use armor ignoring damage for quick kills and Soul Reaping with minions to quickly fuel their energy
- R-spike - ranged spikes using the survivability and innate energy management of rangers
- Heroway - again, combining the survivability of rangers and energy factory of necros to excel
- Sytheway - this time, they added even more survivability and took advantage of ranger's expertise to its fullest in a herowayish build.
What do all these builds have in common? Innate survivability and innate energy management. They don't have to sacrifice skills to achieve what others must give up even an elite to achieve. Instead, they sacrifice attribute points, and it's easy to find several skills in a single attribute that fits the team, so what we need to nerf are not the skills, but the attributes.
Nerf the ranger's elemental bonus armor to +15. This way, it will make them more vulnerable to the elementalists and other elemental damage.
Introduce several new skills as nerfs to Soul Reaping and Expertise. First however, we must nerf the two attributes to 1 energy per 2 attributes for Soul Reaping, and 2% per attribute point for Expertise. Then, these skills will ensure the two attributes are not useless.
Soul Master: 0 E, 0 Cast, cannot recharge, Soul reaping. Skill. You gain 0...6(1-12 attribute points) energy whenever a creature dies within spirit range. This skill does not end when you die.
Experienced Expert: 0E, 0 C, cannot recharge, Expertise. Skill. Your non-spell skills' energy costs are decreased by 0...24%. This skill does not end when you die.
This way, these two characters will have to sacrifice a skill slot if they want to take full advantage of their energy management, but they do not have to if they just need some energy.
Let the flaming begin...

You make many valid points, but there are a few snags
1. "Introducing new skills" isn't going to happen.
2. They tried nerfing Soul Reaping, but PvEers whined so it was changed halfway back. There's really not much they can do without stirring up flame wars.

It's funny because the only time I ever used IWAY was in Zaishen Challenge. After 1 round against the AI I realized it sucked, wondered what all the big fuss was about, and went back to Shock Axe.
Now. As to your mental disabilities. We don't want them here, so reach around to the back of your computer and remove your ethernet cable. Then grab a pair of scissors and snip it into piece, and don't ever come back to the Internet again. Thank you.

I LOLed at this. Not every build has DA in it, and not every map has walls that you can hide behind. Fetid River much?

Why is the mindset "to fix HA, we must nerf what there is" ? Other skills must be buffed if balance is to be brought to the force.

true story
tombs is at a pretty balanced playstyle right at this moment. Although there is the hexways, heroways, and bspikes most of them fail VERY hardly. No nerfs are necessary whatsoever.
But buffs, to the common "balance" play, even though its a never before occured incident in GW, would be the right way to go IMO.

We can just nerf everything and make it a game of patience.
"Oh no! The spike did 5 damage to me! Quick! Use your 2 health healing!"

HA is fine right now, but on a side note i think its really funny that balanced builds include Dervishes or sins right now (at least the majority of them)

Ok, so our options are, nerf 1% of skills in GW, or buff 40% of them? Which is less work?

Real damage comes from melee.
