GW Chat Client Outside of GW
Maybe some people are in the same situation as me. When I work (mainly behind a computer) ... i wish i could chat with my guildies to find out what is happening... discuss builds and other guild stuff... I have all these ideas in my head but never get around to discussing them with others.
I think it would be a great idea if there was a chat client for guild wars outside of the game itself. Where I could chat with guildies and pm others in game without physically running guild wars.

Would be nice, but that means they would need to rework the whole chat system.
In other words=N.O.

I'd like it aswell, but it's probably to late into GW, and it'll take to much time for it to be worth it =/

Wow, you guys should just not of posted if you're going to be like that.
I know exactly what you mean, only I don't want it for the same reasons.
I'm sure this program would be easy and simple to make (for a skilled programmers ~_^)
Just make it so it connects to Gws just like we do to play.
Everyone else here fails, the point was to keep it in game, why would you ask or force you friends or guilds to get on vent, mirc or any alternate program or site.
Not everyone can speak at certain times, most may not even have mics.
Not everyone uses vent or ts in the first place,
In game chat is perfect for in the game. because it's a game..
And this person would like to utilize that, I'd like to see you get everyone of your alliance, guild and local chat, etc into a mirc channel or vent!
And if you don't have gws installed or whatever you're doing, being able to run a small program to get into gws chat would be awesome
Or can't run or doing something else, being able to hop into gws game chats without being in game would be the best.

www.xfire.com For all your chat needs.
Yes, my entire guild does use it. Yes, we do talk there all the time. You get the general idea. They're not going to waste resources on such a thing because there are many other options to do that for you.

If you want to chat, use IRC or an IM client.

you are not understanding the concept... im referring to creating client to read and respond to the in game chat..... whether it be alliance/guild/ or pms....
this would help guilds be a bit more organized for people who may be at work... or have access to mobile internet.

I always had the mindset that if people are at work, they should be doing work. Silly me.

On the contrary, I think that he gets your concept exactly.
Do your work when you're at work; if you don't have access to a computer game, in any situation, then there is a probably a good reason. Play games in your off time. If you have sudden inspirations and insights while you are attending to other business, write it on a sticky note and put it in your pocket.

There are many solutions to your problems without having devs rework the whole chat system.
Forums/Message boards/web site
IRC
XFire/other IM service

I have a feeling that even if GW used a chat client like you want, it would be frivolous.

don't know about work and vent woes....but using the irc would be no different than using a GW chat service...other than the name...
"it's o-ka-lee-dok-a-lee boss, it's just the GW chat i'm using"

I think this would be an interesting idea for GW2 actually, but possibly out of Anet's scope of manpower. A lot of the time, I just get on GW to chat, and I'm not actually doing anything but chatting. Seems like a huge waste of system memory to run an entire memory intensive program as another MSN or AIM. A low-memory usage version of GW would be pretty cool.
Sure forums work, but how often do you get wonderful alliance drama from forums? Vent is great for telling my guildies they can call/bug me for GvG or whatnot, but being in a small guild, there are a lot of others outside my guild that I talk to. IRC is bad
I'm not entirely sure how xfire works, but if everyone I talked to had xfire accounts and stuff, I might consider that.
Maybe if they made part of GW2 open source or something, the public can develop a lot of cool things that Anet simply doesn't have the resources to.
