Master of 'kick my butt!'
Disclaimer: Read thru the list at the top- saw no reference.
Disclaimer2: Glanced thru the first 2 pages here, again, no reference.
So, we have Master of damage. What a great addition to the game. Really, a very nice add to allow is to tweak our builds.
But, what about an offensive counterpart?
I'd like to see a 'master' for each profession on the isle.
For instance, I'd walk up to 'master of necromacy'.
I'd click on him and select which skills/spells he'd have and let him attack.
Simple as that.
What I'd get out of it is:
Ability to see just how much of a benefit that extra armor/shield is giving me.
How each prot enchantment is really protecting me.
I've been working on a 600/smite template. I'd like to see the benefit from having life barrier and protective bond on me at the same time. Do they overlap? Does one cancel the other (by design)? Does it matter if one is cast before the other?
Those types of situations. Sure, we can do this in the field, but it's not as controlled.
Anyway, hope I haven't taken anyone's steam.

There is already some of those. Like the master of hammers.
But they could be customizable.
They could have a monster skill to fully copy your first hero's build, so you could pick a hero, set the build you want the Master of Hammers to have, flag the hero near the master, the marter copy the build, and ding, you flag away the hero and go near the master to try your build against it.

I love this idea really. I'm always bothering guildies of mine to waste time doing 1v1 scrimmages when i want to test things out like that... the latest one was just for fun, an 884 damage Aneurysm, haha.

There are a lot of times when I've come up with new buillds or Armor/Rune combinations, and I want to see how they work with my character and whether I should change them.

Probably not something I would use (really should learn to use the isle of nameless) but why not.

Master of Defense would be beneficial, might opt to have a healer nearby for you though.
Can't forget the Master of Puppets! /headbang

they should have an adaptive AI master of... NPC, one that reads your current skills and develops a skillbar to counter it completely. This can help in devising new tactics, as well as be able to find new ways to destroy the metagame so things stay fresher...longer :P

I couldn't even begin to imagine the AI programming that would go into this. There are enough problems with hero/hench/mob AI already to make me think that this isn't something that Anet would want to dive into.

Not sure I'd go for this...I'd rather they left the skill bar open and let me select which skill at which time to trigger.
Maybe even allow us a hero to configure and then 'turn them' against us. Kind of like a Magni tournament.

Perhaps it would be simpler to add something/someplace where your hero(s) become hostile to you. Then you could choose their weapons and equipment, and test your defense against the build you gave them. Barely any new functionality or AI required.
Edit: Duh, didn't see A. Noid's post above me, til too late.

How interesting... it's like a pseudo-doppelganger!

This combined with that one suggestion about allowing us to change skills while in the Isle zone is definitely FTW.
