Default What's the diff btwn the downloadable client and the software you buy?

I'm not sure how this works so what's the difference between Prophecies which you buy in a store and the client you download? Are they the same thing? I think they are so in that case, what you're paying for is just the key, right? What about Nightfall and Factions? I was told all 3 games are stand-alone so if you're playing Nightfall or Factions does that mean you don't need to download the client or do you still do that?

Thanks

The client for all of them is the same. So if you have guildwars installed, youll have nightfall and factions installed as well, its just that you wont be able to access those two continents. You need the client to play any of the guildwars.

Now the downloadable client and the cd client are the exact same thing. However when downloading the downloadable client, you will have to allow guildwars to download many files to your computer (The entire game actually) after the game is installed. I would suggest leaving the client on for a night or using the -image command (You can find guides for this if your really interested and not the least bit confused).

The cd client has more files on the disk so the amount of files you end up downloading is less then if you downloaded the entire client. I would suggest isntalling the game via the game disk then allowing the game to update by doing any of the two things i suggested in my last two paragraphs.

Note: While you can immediately play you will have some lengthy loading screens as they load files. If you download the client then the load screen will be atleast x10 longer then if you installed it via the cd disk

Yeah, You are paying for the key so in theory it would be the same game

No, you don't need to download the client to play Nightfall or Factions on the Downloaded Prophecies client.. I think..

Prophicies disc only have the prophicles content (The old Tomb Map, no SF)

Factions disc has prophicles content as well as the factions contents.

Nightfall disc has all 3 chapters contents.

The game client will automatically download all the latest contents for all 3 chapters but the initial game client size is around 2.4-2.7 GB (without the maps) You will have to either image the file after you finish dl-ing it or download the maps when you need it(auto).

By using the game client on the website, you are starting with 0 data. However from the disc, you will get 1+ gb data from proph, 1.4gb data from factions and 1.8gb data from nf. That way, you can skip dl-ing 1++gb that come with the disc.

The system will dl all contents from all 3 chapters regardless if you own them. The game will only download the Maps when you access them though.

The game .dat file is around 2.7-3.2gb (Full version with all maps)
