Norn tournament PVP-style
I had this idea while looking through all the common armors and seeing the crown you get for 5 Bison championship tokens.
It's true that you never know who you'll be up against in the Norn fighting tournament, but it's the same aspect pretty much - fight through five or six NPC's to get to Magni. But you know what skills the NPC's use each time, and if you don't, you can Wiki it.
Some people say this game is too easy, so I had the idea of making a PVP-version of the Norn fighting tournament. Have the same concept of fighting five or six people to get to Magni, but you'd be doing it against other players. And, of course, whoever wins gets to move to the next round, and the last one gets to fight Magni. Same thing only with players instead of NPC's. But of course, leave it as a choice between choosing NPC's or players.
Since Norn are in Guild Wars 2, this could probably go in there instead of the current game.

So you want a PvP tournament, with the final fight being a NPC? Who would want to waste their time with that?
1v1 in Guild Wars is fail. People would be running dumb griefing builds, which would get dull very fast. It wouldn't be fun, and there's no real reward suitable for it.
Dumb idea, /notsigned

GW isn't really balanced for 1v1. For that, ANet made Hero Battles. 1v1 would just be degenerate play, like perma-shadow form griefers, or whatever.

As much as I'd love 1v1 fights, MisterB is sadly right. If you removed Elite skills, that would be a different story though.
/sign only with no elites with the PvP version. *magni would have to be a tiny bit easier*

it already is fairly random its people who use cheap builds to win so easy. The samething would happen with real people. Like Mister B said bunch of perm shadow form griefers etc.

Dwarven Brwaling tournament?
Maybe, why not?
Norn tournament? That would be exactly like 1vs1. And we have already stated that such a thing is not possible in GW.
PRESICSELY knowing the skills you may find is the key to win the torunament, without that it would be just luck and nothing else.

I like 1vs1. I think it would be great to have a tournament, but I'm afraid it might get imbalanced, as previously stated. Though, perhaps you could get a special set of brawling skills more or less suited for your proffession and/or race which were more balanced.
If it hadn't been for the fact that some people have better PCs than others, 1vs1 battles in which people used mostly interruption-, shield- and a combination of slow/fast attack skills with suitable, balanced damage would be great. I like the whole time-it-right with duels, and if you're playing against a human brain or an NPC it could vary in difficulty.

This modified idea looks like it might be fun. 1v1 set skillset competitive missions ala brawling or BMP type missions. Imagine playing "shiro v kunavaang," "gwen v a single charr," "cynn v mhenlo's mistress," lots of possibilities...

This is a dreadful idea, as Gw really is not balanced for 1v1's as mentioned above.

Call a friend to do 1vs1 GVG and see the result with testings on different professions.
this testing can tell such idea would work or not.
I personally did this before, but I also have noticed the skill imbalance for 1vs1 environment.
I have no comment on this because the only pvp I do is alliance battle.

the idea of 1vs1 pvp has been suggested countless times....and been shotdown countless times
maybe you should learn from the flaming of others and stop suggesting 1vs1?

pvp blows, there is no point to it and should be done away with because of balance BS and such, maybe make it like an FPS where you use weapons only and block skills, three to four hits kills, with no healing, then maybe PvP will have balance and be worth doing 1v1, until then enough already.
