Skills? Please, no more PvE skills.
Title? Please no more titles.
Monument? We already have monuments for the elite areas.
Armor? See weapon.
Cape? GvG players will not be happy.
So what exactly would be awarded, and how? Based on player alone, or guild/alliance? Based on time (ugh, Factions missions were bad enough)?

Limited yes but if they made me glow like bosses do out side of PVP Island I would luv it

Anet doesn't have to worry about not having enough money to give out real life prizes, so they could give prizes to the top 8 finishers in something like the fastest run in DoA/UW/FoW/Urgoz/Deep (without consumables/ursan to make it more challenging), maybe one for each month.

Ursanway does not need to be rewarded. Besides that we allready get a chance on some unique weapons and skins. Think this is a very bad idea.

Make it no-PvE skills only. Problem solved.

This could be very cool.
But instead of an Elite Area, how about ANet selects a challenge mission, disables the use of PvE skills and consets, and the highest score gets it.
That would be easier on the programming side as all you need to do really is set up the banning of PvE skills and Cons-the scoring system is already in place.
As for prizes....not sure what they could offer-maybe a different cape trimming or something that marks the guild for their efforts at PvE.

The problem with current challenge missions is that at least 2 of them are totally broken and rely only on time spent in there, and very little on skill.

People who finish hard areas faster get more drops and money. They are already rewarded. I think having some kind of ladder for missions like in the competitive missions would be cool, but there doesn't need to be prizes. We already have enough worthless crap in PvE.

Prizes does not need to be normal items. There are number of other possibilities.
Note: This are just from top of the head suggestions.
- (Temporary) title. Can't be added to HoM. Does not count as max title.
- Like already suggested: Cape. Probably bad as PvP-ers would not approve of this.
- Statue with winning guilds name for next month in some town(s).

Temporary titles sounds cool.
Does anyone really care about capes? Most people disable them in PvE anyway because they clip horribly.
Statue with winning names is kind of the same as the ladder NPC at competitive missions.
Just don't clutter the game with random useless items that are exactly the same as the other billion random useless items in the game.

It's a good idea. I propose a price!
Winning team for each competition gets one ticket for each player. Each ticket can be redeemed for one PIECE of armor. ANY armor, including but not limited to FoW armor.
Too non-special? Add:
The armor gained in this way will have GOLD color. Wow. Completely useless, but I'm sure someone will love it to death.
If you want a real shocking thing that would make this the most sought-for item in GW PvE:
If you manage to get hold of ALL golden armor, you gain the Boss glow while wearing this armor set in PvE.
Quite honestly I think the bottom option is the best. Sure, it's a huge boon, but honestly, shouldn't actual in-game skill be rewarded?

People who finish the elite areas the fastest are already rewarded in the form of the end-area chest and since you cna do it the fastest you can get to it faster than anyone else. /notsigned

For the right prizes, this would be a nice idea. But I would limit it to a core PvE area, either an existing one or a new one.

Pretty sure when we were talking ingame you were joking but apparently you were serious about this.
Challenge missions were a great idea, but the problem as already mentioned was that in order to get a decent score get ready to invest hours into a single run. Dajkah Inlet and Zos Shivros for example take over an hour to score fairly high, and pac-man I've personally sank multiple hours into one go and still didn't take top spot. Ultimately none of them really showcase any player skill at all, and although that's true for all of PvE, if you want to attach prizes onto them they should go towards players that are somewhat deserving.
A fastest time suffers too much from lag and such. Avoiding that little issue would be great.

And I don't know what programming language "=/=" is, but it's more common to do "!=", as in Elton John != gay.

PvE + Competition = PvP.
So, what you aim to do is really quite impossible. Also, MagmaRed does have a good point on not really being able to have a good reward.
