Exempt Trophies From Loot Scaling
Hey,
Bit of a rant but oh well.
I've recently been gallabanting all over guild wars getting all kinds of trophies for 20/20 offhands for my characters.
The time it takes to get these things is ridiculous these days, about 1 in 30 drops their trophy and as you all know you require 5 for (most) collectors. It took me 3 hours of game play over several days to get 5 encrusted lodestones.
I've tried buying them from other players but it is very rare these days for people to keep hold of collector items and finding said players takes very long.
As title says i'd propose that they become exempt from loot scaling, it's in no way game breaking, doesn't touch the economy, and would be nice!
I also propose you go out there and see how long it takes you to farm 5 of said items, excluding the very easy ones (stone summit emblems/mountain troll tusks etc).
Thoughts?

The main problem here is that the 20/20 inscript/core for the offhand rarely drop compared to other mods. Anet should fix the drop rate and the problem would be solved.

What do people do with trophies they don't intend to give to collectors? They vendor them to the merchant. Thats touching the economy.
Simple solution would be to group with someone and ask/pay that all such drops be given to you.

Let's see... Speed in getting certain items, considering their cost...
/bonus items. Are the fastests way.
Bonus Mission Pack Items. Are very fast too.
Collector items depend on trophies. So they may be fast or slow depending on the creature that drops the trophie.
Crafter Items are really fast if you have gold, otherwise they are the slowest.
Green Items are very variable, from very fast to very slow.
Making Trophies fall under the lootscaling makes the crafter weapons still a choice. The fastests choice for those that have gold.
So Trophies are just fine.

Most of this stuff seems to drop more the more you over farm an area. I wanted mantis pincers today and the first two trips I got none then on the third trip they started falling... One reason I get so many decayed Orr emblems.

The only way for this to work in the current economy model would be if they changed the value of the collectibles to 1g and the weapons you get from them to 4-5g ... ( you still need to be able to sell them hence the 1g price ).
This way the lesser price would balance the increased drop rate.
in that case

Oh, I forgot. The only exception I would add is when a certain Trophy is VERY rare and it is required in an event, like that Nightmare residue in the Canthan new year, that only 6 monsters in the WHOLE game drop, separated in three spawns of two of them in 3 different spots of ONE single mission.
In those cases, drop rate should be increased.

I guess. Though it's not that bad if you can get the target monsters in decent numbers. Go solo or 2 man with a hero. Plus, not sure 3 hours is that bad for a 20/20 focus. I know it can take that long looking for the damn mods in trade chat sometimes.

How about making CERTAIN Trophies and Collectectible items NON-SALE Items ? This way, Drop rates can be raised, players who want to use them, ( Probably for Heroes, or wanting to customise cheap sets effectively ), will be able to do so. Players who don't can simply just trash or ignore picking them up.
This way, in game economy will not be affected, as ONLY players who DO use Collectibles will offer a price.

/notsigned, sorry but its fine as is. For those trophies that only drop from few monsters in limited areas i agree with increase drop rate, but that will never happen. 1 in 10,000 ideas might get accepted by anet. Because anet is the

Chill out, avatar. No need for triple post. It's too annoying getting trophies after loot scaling.
