i got an idea.

quit being stupid.

at least farming is entertaining, trading is so boring it isn't even worth it if you play this game to have fun.

the real problem is people who can sit around powertrading and not get a horrible headache looking at the little yellow lines of text go by. they have an unfair advantage against me. fix it. [/somewhatsarcasm]

join 'em or lose. sorry.

There are many players that would agree with the exact opposite of the above quote.

There are many facets of GW that certain players like that others disdain...but it doesn't mean that one needs to be eliminated to please the others.

First of all, Welcome to Capitalism!! Let's take farming (crops) for a very basic example:

Farmer plants, grows, & harvests his crops. Then he sells them to others (traders) to manufacture and sell on the market to the consumers. And the traders mark up the prices to make a profit. Is this wrong? No. Are all the parties involved always ethical? Of course not.

I suppose we could have a more Communistic approach -- everyone throws all their good drops into a communal pot and then they all get split up equally. So whether you farm ectos 8 hours a day or play GW 1 hour a week, you still get an equal amount of ectos (maybe 2 or 3 ever). This approach leaves NO incentive to do anything more than just beat the game. Who wants to continually work at the grindstone unless there's a reward for their troubles?

Which leads to my second point. When you tell people what they should or should not be doing when playing a game, you limit creativity & resourcefulness. Sure, I'd love to get a set of FoW armor, but ecto farming drives me nuts because I can't seem to get drops. So I like the ecto farmers. Also, I don't like standing in Kamadan or LA for a few hours trying to sell my wares in the Party Chat. So I appreciate those people who will do that. Cutting out these traders would limit the availability of ectos to people like me. The more restrictions and rules that are set up, the fewer freedoms we have (in RL too, but that's another story). I like to be able to decide how I want to play this game and not have someone tell me what I can and can't do to have fun.

without traders who would buy your "hard earned" items, and no less buyers would not make your stuff magicly cost more...

to the op,

what do you think you want the money for? vanity items that work the same and have the same stats as white/collector items? 700k armor that protects the same as 5k armor? gw is a game where money does not really matter. you need some to outfit your character, 50k at most, and thats if you don't use collector items/armor. anything beyond that is just for vanity. so please enlighten us as to why this matters at all.

Although I despise farming, sometimes I farm Vaettirs for big numbers when I feel mad.
