Personally, I think have very rare green armour piece drops from certain bosses would be best. However, I think that for things like White Mantle, you should be able to make a full set of armour. The armour could be made at a special crafter in a town corresponding to the campaign and things being killed. Of course, the green armour pieces would only drop from bosses who have elite skills, as they are usually more difficult to kill/find.
Really, who hasn't at some point wanted to wear this armour?

You're missing the point here.
Let me bring up another issue...
Auction Houses...
Wow has it and has made it sure that GW cannot copy it.
How? By Copyright features.
So think twice and you'll come to the conclusion that they'll probably have Copyrighted this as well...
Don't you think Anet would've even remotely considered this?
So starting to shout and call my comments silly does not solve the issue.
Armor Crafting is good the way it is and it shouldn't change.

Copyright is eeeevil....
I can tell you the most popular armor types would be:
anything endgame.
anything evil looking.
so, we'd wind up with a bunch of overly-eager whammos with Shadow Warrior armor tanking shit. No thank you.
Or maybe some Shiro-ken armored eles tanking? Whoo?

You could make the same statement about any and all suggestions made in guru. Just because there are other more important issues inside GWs which need fixed, doesnt mean other ideas shouldnt be suggested.
I wasnt suggesting that Anet drop everything their doing and go with my idea. It was more something they would do on the side lines and bring out with the next campaign as a game wide update.
And they avoid the AH idea because if they used it, it would be far too similar to WoW. MMOs and RPGs are all going to be very similar because there is a set way to do them, such as skill bars and maps and weapons and armor etc etc. But some stuff is unique between all the games and WoW has found a nege with their AH.
If Anet copied it, it would kill GWs.

Then dont make them tradeable. The only players who would chase after this armor, would be the elite, hardcore players. And it tends to be the harcore players who are the rich players. If they are distracted with farming to get rare armor drops, then they wont be pumping huge amounts of gold into the market and prices might fall.
Thats just speculation mind.

That is very true. The green weapon market is saturated now. There are far too many of them, plus the trend to make green weapons in new campaigns better then previous greens makes old ones redundant and crap!
We dont need new green weapons.
If we made green armor unique to the new campaign and gave it stats similar to green weapons; such as buffs on armor, energy, and certain spells and skills, then people would have something new and interesting to focus on collecting.
You could then combine it with the green weapons from previous campaigns.
Result = insentive to buy the new campaign and insentive to play old campaigns to get green weapons.
Idea to add a sales pitch for Anet - green armor in the new campaign, in the same fasion as Heroes in NF.

Oh i beg to differ
How are ANet dodging things they've never said are coming? they, like the 6 month release schedule idea, are community rumors that have gained a life of their own
Oh and like I said in a previous post, please remember that there are different teams working on things... and the little things aren't even done by the teams (like recconects being done by a coder on his lunch breaks)

i dont think it would mess up GW economy at all. runescape (as said on another thread, somewhere) has a great economy, and armor is dropped a lot. dont make it customized instantly if drops are only for that profession. or, make all unique armors wearable by everyone. you see, for example, monks wielding swords, spears and shields, but theyre not for their profession. as for big enemes' armor, just make them only salvageable.

i love gws current armor system. knowing i'd have to actually grind to get what could be an armor i want alone makes me say no, let alone all the economical repercussions.

I like the idea but it's not the GW way in my opinion.
Something for GW2? I hope not since i love the way the Armor system works now.
And if it's "Green" in the means "un-modable" you only get a surten stats per armor set, just like the old GW armor system before the insignias. And I don't wanna spend more grind/farming hours on getting a "Green" armor from a surten boss.
So i think it's a step backwards. Like any green item you find ingame to they can't be changed.

/signed...i think this is a great idea but not to look like them eneemy's above but with only a similarity and the drop to be rare so it isnt easy nore can you sell it.
id like the be a craftsman at end of UW with different armor instead of fow you get Uw one such as Ectolasm armor since we have obsidian allready. but thats just something ive queryied about for a long time now weither this will happen idk. so do wish it does for all us fellow guild wars players out there that dont want guild wars to die faster then it allready is.

Adding new armor sets is alright, but no armor should be dropping from bosses. How in the world is that dwarf armor going to fit you?

I'd rather see them drop untradeable collector items that you can turn in to a certain collector for specific armor.
Not a direct system.

Seeing how you cannot sell the armor, I wouldn't mind that being put in. It won't effect the economy at all because they cannot be sold, so they would act the same as the BMP weapons. So no economy dents.
As said, not too challenging for programing, however will be a slight pain for the artists. I would love to finally have Titan armor for my characters, and Mursaat armor would be cool too.
I say that these armors should act like Common Armor, so all professions can drop any of the 5 pieces, and it will fit with your characters. Maybe have like an Elementalist drop the head, a Warrior drop the body, a Necro drop the boots, etc. Only would work that way for races that have multiple profession bosses.
Of course, not all species should drop armor. Maybe the bosses for the main enemies (Stone Summit, Mursaat, Titans, Afflicted, Shiro'ken, Margonite, Torment Demons, Charr, Destroyers, Shadow Army, and Dhuum's Army).
Also, have it so the armor will NOT go into the HoM, as they would act like common armor.
A list of how the armors may look like and where they drop from.
Prophecies:
Stone Summit: Their armor with the spikes, lots of skin showing due to size Drops in Southern Shiverpeaks.
Mursaat: Bosses on the RoF missions, has the armor they wear *no jade floating stone stuff*
Titan: Armor that changes according to environment, like how the Titans do. Drops only in Hell's.
Factions:
Afflicted: Looks like their skin. Drops in Dragon's Throat.
Shiro'ken: Looks like the Warrior/Assassin Shiro'kens. Drops from bosses in Raisu Palace.
Nightfall:
Margonite: Energy arms and the messed-up skin-like armor on chest, leggings, boots, with the Abaddon mask. Drops from any Margonite Bosses.
Torment Demons: Looks like messed up skin. Drops in the Realm of Torment.
Eye of the North:
Charr: Tunics that the charr wear with some horns on them. Drops in the Charr Homelands.
Destroyers: Looks like the Destroyer Gloves, only drops from the bosses in Destruction's Depths, no gloves drop.
Core:
Shadow Army: Looks like the warrior/ranger armor. Drops from Priest of Menzies and Darknesses.
Dhuum's Army: Looks like the Eternal Weapons *ghost-like, due to how The Fury and other "riders" are ghosts*. Drops from The Fury and Emissaries of Dhuum.
The Core ones would be hardest to get. Possibly also be very rare drop from normal creatures in Hard Mode, due to the few amount of bosses. Those are just my thoughts.

heh this could give a new vibe into the game but i'd think it could only work if it dropped on human bosses or humanoids like white mantle, kournans... you get the picture those pretty much already have the models of the characters we are able to use
