Steelhand is an assassin boss that hangs around Nika in Bukdek Byway. He has the skill [skill]palm strike[/skill] and Kenshi's Butterfly Daggers
/signed. As said before, since you can spend the money and get a customized weapon of your choice, anyway, all they would be doing is allowing you to name it. As long as it was limited to one per char and customized, the "all-holy economy" wouldn't be affected.
It would be a great idea for GW2, and might even keep people interested in getting all the games just to have that "Grobnar's Hammer" to take with them to GW2.

It would make a much nicer addition to the HoM than these Destroyer things.
I would not limit the req to 9 however. Hassini Softshell has a req 0 AL 8, +20 Health shield. If a Ranger wants a Req 0, AL 8, +5 Energy shield - why not. We still need Ranger wand and focus/staves for Druid Beast Masters. (req Expertise, damage Elemental of some type).
However, for the most part I would be generally inclined to promote items within their classes specific lines. (I merely feel the ranger Beast Master has always been slighted by having to use everyone else's staves and foci.)

Make them not allowed in PvP or give PvP characters the same ability on the weapon creation screen.

Well it's certainly an option, though I wouldn't know how difficult it would be to give one line of weapons "This item can not be used in PvP".

As for people moaning on about it being "imbalancing PvE"...can I take this opportunity to remind you that ANYTHING is overpowered in PvE these days, and skills like Ursan Blessing already made PvE a big pile of imbalanced lulz. Is a green weapon with existing mods and a unique name going to further imbalance anything? More to the point, would any (sensibly designed) new mods actually imbalance PvE in the slightest? I highly doubt it. There is still a price for the weapon, there is still a limited number of ways of obtaining it...One per character has been suggested. That would be enough.

I dont understand the PvE only thing. If you unlock everything and I have unlocked alot, you can already do this. You build the weapon you want with the mods you want. the only difference is with Beavers idea you get to choose the skin it uses. And it has your name on it. So whats the problem?

i know this is a semi-old post, but i found it and i think its a great idea, but limitations of course. It should have different customizable options for a skin, and certain ones cost more (categories of ones with high prices, or everyone will have same expensive one). Different prices for dyes and stuff, but it shouldn't be as easy as finishing the game. You should need all three protectors, or even Legendary Guardian and then complete EOTN to craft it.
but still /signed

I have an idea on a slight change to this, and I did not read through all the posts, so sorry if it was mentioned.
Instead of creating the name of a weapon and your name on it, how about just being able to put your name on any non-green weapon? It would take out the choose your req thing so there wouldn't be aby req expertise weapons, which I noticed some1 said they would make. So it would be an existing weapon, with existing mods, and existing name, but just with your name in front of it, and of course customizing the weapon when your name is put on. an example would be Azazel's Tormented Daggers, and whatnot. But the original post seems just as good, thought i'd put my idea in there too.

Whats the worst that can happen? You say 2k to buy all the mods?
If your hero goes down in history, he should go out with a BANG!
And I always wanted Shiro's Blades without the vampiric effect :P

I did not read the whole thread, but this would also be VERY nice in GW2 from the HoM. Your hero's lengendary weapon.....that your desendant gets.

just had a thought, how about you can only get it once you max out your HoM/Monument of Valor. like how the rainbow pheonix only appears when you've done certain stuff, when you meet the specific requirements some ghostly weaponsmith dude appears and offers to craft you an ultimate weapon for a pricely sum/after you do a special quest for him.
or how about when you beat all four games in NM/HM and/or max HoM the avatars of the gods appear in your HoM and you go to the god of your profession (eg. warrior -> balthazar) and they offer you a mighty weapon to show your deeds or whatever.
maybe even a mini-storyline similar to the scavenger hunt where you have to run all over the world to the hardest to reach places to fetch the different materials and stuff to get the required mods on your weapon.
would make them near-impossible to get so would stop the whole "noobs getting them an giving then silly names" thing, and probably wouldnt be too imbalanced.
also, if you get the God Walking Amongst Mear Mortals title, surely a god wouldnt be using some other dude's special green axe would they? if you were a god then you would have your own super weapon.
