I was thinking of the same idea so I searched it up and found this.
I want to elaborate more about my ideas.
In the Logistics business (Transport) we have, in the Transport chain, certain people called Forwarders. They accept Orders from clients and then process them to the Customer. Simply said, a Mediator.
Ok lets put this ingame.
A Mediator, an NPC (multiple would be better) standin in cities. Like CRAFT (the beginner of this post) said; you DROP your item that you want to sell at the Mediator, and he will sell it for you! YOU, the seller, will set a minimum, maximum and buyout price for the Mediator to follow. Then the buyers go to the Mediator to check if the item they want is being sold.
The original seller's name is posted with the item being sold.
For example.
I want to sell an Ecto. but I have trouble finding a buyer.
Another person wants to BUY and Ecto. but has trouble finding a seller.
We then both go to the Mediator, or Forwarder, drop off item or buy item.
This solves:
-Trade spam
-Wasting hours and hours of spamming lol.
Plus points:
-More time to enjoy the rest of the game instead of buying/selling.
Why? Because the Mediator is selling it FOR YOU!
So instead of WTS WTB spam in the cities, and Auction House idea stealing from WOW, Guild Wars will have their own original way of selling/buying, by being inspired by actual Real Life Logistics:
So just like the Xunlai being an NPC guild. You will have:
The Guild Of Mediators.
What u guys think

The auction house is the simplest, most effective way of trading, period.
And guess what : it's not a WoW patent, nor any other game's, since it was first used in REAL LIFE.
so the only trading system I will ever support is that of an auction house.
if this thread's idea is supplementary to an auction house then

...unfortunately ANet has already stated there will be no auction house in GW.

He meant 'imagined', not 'seen', XDD.
The only thing GW needs for 'dee ecomoney' is the Xunlai Markeplace.
Just that, as it was imagined by those reading lines in the gw.dat. And maybe a better customization system or requiring customization to equip items, but nothing else.
