Why do people keep mentioning making the HoM account based?
If we'll be able to transfer items/accomplishments to descendents of our characters, it wouldn't make sense if you could transfer something to a descendent of ANOTHER character at all.

The whole "account based" craze started when pictures of the HoM appeared with different profession's armors on display. Everyone assumed (including me!) that the HoM would be account based because of that, even though I believe the general consensus before the pics was that HoM would be character based.
In short, if Anet had got the coding done and the armor displayed correctly, then the whole "account based" movement would be quelled by now. (IMO).

I agree that HoM should not be account based because there are titles that I will not get with all my charcters.I am just glad at this point to figure out what I need to get things set up in there.I would like somethings changed but I also understand that ANET is also trying to prove that a persons indivudale sucess is inporttant to them to there players.I mean I do not play PVP hardly at all so I will not be geting those displayed in mine.It also make it more personal the way they have it set up in certain ways.HOM means a lot to us long time players trust me and I am not going to be able to get certain titles with my main charcter because I was there in beta before phorphices was called that at all but I will be able to get that title with other charcters now that I know.

I really do hope they change the Monument of Valor (weapons), i think it just sucks that "Only" destroyer weapsons can be added, should be any weapon you like to add in ther, titles should be the same to, all in all i think ther should be no limitation with what you put in the or have a big ranged choice of what you put in ther. really disapointed with the way it is atm.

What's the problem with that? I have 2 parents, 4 grandparent, 8 great-grandparents, etc. If enough time passes, it would be perfectly viable to inherent from all of our GW1 characters.

all your current guild wars characters are from the SAME generation. it is logically unrealistic for your descendant in GW2 to claim inheritance from ALL of them. what is he/she, some test tube baby that is the product of 8 different characters' sex cells combined?!

Anet created a monster with HoM. It's confusing and nothing is specified about what it can and cannot do. For instance infused armor and runes are they in or out. Once you put you armor in and then get an upgrade will the HoM upgrade it or are you stuck. It's a bit daunting that you could be screwing up your future if you do it wrong. Anet wants to kep it's options open. Account based things are more reasonable when you look at how much time it takes to do them. But Anet changed Favor to a title oriented system and now needs you grinding titles on lots of characters. They are a bit mad because we don't want to PvP enough. Believe me if enough people were still playing PvP the Favor would never have changed.

The reason why people want to make it Hall of Monuments account-based rather than character-based is because it basically rewards the players with the least number of characters the most. That's pretty ironic since you'd think that you'd reward the most avid players the most, and not the inverse. If you have a lot of characters and rotate them through the game, then you're only going to have a few titles with each character meaning that your Hall of Monuments (which seems to be tied heavily into your Kind of a Big Deal title track) will be pretty much worthless.
There's also some things that were implemented well after the Title system was implemented. For instance, I have many old characters that had hundreds of deaths because I created them a few weeks after GW launched. A year later I find out there's a Survivor title. None of Guild Wars's oldest characters can ever get Survivor ever again. I personally think that implementing Survivor in the first place was a rather ridiculous title--all it does is encourage people to farm easy areas or get guildies to power-level their characters. Rewarding people for panic-quitting in the middle of a mission when things go bad is pretty weak.
If all of this falls of deaf ears, well, I can say that there's already several Account-Based titles that have no purpose at all except in the PvE environment. Both Lucky and Unlucky titles are completely account based and have nothing to do with PvP. As soon as any of your characters enters the Hall of Monuments, then its an instant statue if you have Rank 2 or higher. These may be characters that never stood a second in the Shing Jea Boardwalk or used a lockpick. What do you call that? So much for an "achievement" based on your "personal legacy".

my only complaint atm is that the Rainbow phoenix is character exclusive. Shouldn't not be able to get this because I chose to max titles on warrior and not ranger. It's like giving a spear for maxing out SS/LB or the like. Pretty much useless except for one class basically.

I think the Idee of weapons(just destroyer weapons sucks).I think the A-net should change it so you can add what ever weapon you want, and not its not going to be customized, which really sux,I have a very rare zodiac staff on my main charr that I wanna implement in my hom,but I still wanna have the chance to sell it if I get tired of it later, and if I want take my crystalline on the hom,I cant sell it cuz the customazing, which really are dumb in my opinion
and for the heroes. I think that A-net should make the change that the heroes can display the weapons that they are using ing,Im pimping all my heroes with very rare golds and expensive ones,I think other do that too,so in that case I think A-net should make that change into hom
Moving onto title section. its very nice that you can have titles shown, 2things that ticks me off is that I made my monk like very short after the launch of GW and by that said, I would like to get Leg survivor or LDOA,but I cant now,I dont wanna remake my monk that I have played 3k h and have stuff for her over 1.5mill thats customized,ye,the armor part, fow, gloves.
So heres my suggestion. A-net should make an elite quest from old Ascalon 4mann party only that you are gonna defend against a charr invasion, both LDOA and leg survivor are in this quest, you can only choose 1,if you die within the invasion your chance of leg survivor dies with you,if you complete the entire charr invasion, you get LDOA,but this for the person that missed the chance at the beginning, since a-net made the titles later after gw was launched
now for the Armor section. I think its really nice, but I have some comments about it,A-net should let the players armor display on the statue, take my for example, I have fow armor, chaos gloves, glasses, the hom only displays the entire fow armor,I think they can add some feature that allows you to show the glasses, crowns, destroyer gloves, chaos gloves into the armor section of hom,
And the pet section, if you add a pet to the collection they wont be customized but you would have to store it in the storage or charr in that case Account based..

Why is Anet so inconsistent with this link into GW2? The GWEN "Silver Eagle" armor for warriors may now be displayed in the HoM, but none of the other 9 classes can display their elite GWEN armor. Is there going to be a fix so that all classes have equal treatment (after all they all did the grind just like warriors)? I also do not follow the logic with what weapons may be displayed - you can display a "white" collectable, but not an end game green weapon from Factions or Nightfall?

I have no idea where people get the "decedents" idea from. Given that you can play as different races in GW2... a Charr for example inheriting things from human ancestors make sense to you?
@Arduinna:
I LOVE that picture.. LoL... dunno why.

I think the biggest fix that needs to happen is certainly being able to choose which 5 titles or whatever u want to show at one time on any of the monuments needs to be fixed. Other than that as far as the title monument goes I think it works well. Only max titles need to be displayed, it would be so much clutter to have anything less up there. I just hope we can reorganize it more, I worked hard to get my "Legendary Survivor", and my "Eternal Conqueror of the Fissure of Woe", too bad I currently can't display them both at once .

I wish we could remove titles that we don't want put into rotation and also heroes, minipets, armors, and destroyer weapons. They could still be customized (weapons) or dedicated (Minis), they just won't be displayed

Personally I don't really care what they do with the HoM. I'm looking forward to making a fresh start with GW2 and I'm not really concerned about what junk from GW1 I can see in GW2. The whole HoM thing is just so that players feel there's some sort of continuity between the two. If you went off to play WoW or LOTR, what would you carry over? (Answer: nothing!)
Woohoo, People Knew Me in GW1 - look, this is the ugly destroyer bow my hero Jin sometimes used - ain't you impressed!

I thought that all elite armor would be displayed in my character's Hall of Monuments, so I bought the Deldrimore armor. When I tried to proudly display this 4th set of elite armor, it wouldn't display. Sadly, that's when I checked wiki on it and found that it doesn't display.
Why oh why is the Deldrimore armor not displayable?! Is this because the Dwarves won't be in GW2 and the Norn, Asura, and humans will be?
Anet, would you please reconsider this? I spent a lot of time getting the money for armor to display in HoM and would hate to see it go to waste. If not, I'll likely end up deleting this armor.

Yeah, I don't get why warriors can display their Deldrimor armor but no one else can. This really needs to be fixed...
