Sounds cool. But it should only be known to people who aren't on your ignore list.

Wouldn't it just be easier to pm them and ask? This would only be useful for people set to "do not disturb", and tracking them down.
I think with proper usage, and settings put inplace to avoid abuse, this may or may not become handy in GW2. But i doubt it is needed here.

Would it be /whereis ______ since we know WHO it is? Anyways, if you know the person I would just PM them. But what about typing in something like /whois _____ to find out what other character they are on or what characters they have on the account. I would find that more helpful.

first off i put a poll so you wouldnt have to put /notsigned. secondly i for got to ad that it would only be people who dont have you on ignore and are on your friends list. 3 it already works on battle net, and people dont have a problem with it. lastly if people call you a scamer then you probably are.

Whats the point just pm them and ask them what dis to meet up in...
it works in bnet cause thats a rts game and is limited to the info that is given (in game or in channel XXX) wheras in GW u got the whole world to stalk.

I would consider Diablo (also on Bnet) an RPG, but yeah, same thing. You're either in Game "Baal Run - 32" or in Channel "XXX". It's not going to say "In Rogue Encampment" or anything specific, so this really can't be compared like "Well, Bnet has it and it's not a problem" because if someone is stalking your games, just go make a passworded one and they won't be able to follow you, you can't password your district in GW.

I think it can be a really handy idea, if it has rules attached to it.
You could probably limit it to guild mates/alliance members and your friends list. I know sometimes you are trying to meet up with someone who isn't the brightest bulb on the x-mas tree, and your in int dist 1 and they are in am dist 1.. it'll also clean up the chat a little bit (since it is not streamlined or large enough).
they could make that /whereis and use a /whois option to display something like a bio of the person and all of their char's and char's stats. would be cool.

Cool idea. Also, there is almost nothing a stalker can do to you in GW. All they can do is follow you around, other then that... nothing. Ignore them and turn off all chat, and it won't be a problem. Another idea, is for it to work, you would both need each others names on your friend list.

Add that both the person typing and the person being search have to be on each other's friends list, then I might /sign
Until then, /halfsigned. As others said, too much stalking. But if it's for finding where friends are, then it's not as big of a problem, as it can get annoying asking where people are for various reasons.

The only time you should be able to find someone is when you PM and ask where they are. If they won't tell you were they are you have no reason to be around them. Unless you want to pm your friends and go "hey guess what teehee I'm in the same town as you!"

Not useful, but nifty. I'm a proud stalker and I would love this feature :P Who needs privacy anyways, it's a game for pete's sake.
It should be limited to friends and guild members though. I'd restrict this to the battle.net equivalent of typing "/f list." It'd be nice to know what your buddy was doing without bothering him. Just something to satisfy a little curiosity...I don't want a reason to ask someone where they are, I just want to know. I've seen this work on plenty of MMORPGs without any abuse.

People being afraid of getting stalked in an instanced game...
Could integrate it with the Guild Window/Friends Window:
