why? cause it actually doesn;t sound like title grinding to me. it has purpose and i certainly would love to be able to tell if people had super monk healing or a super pvp killing record.
basically, some of the current titles are more grind and have no real value in game. i feel that sometimes GW is all about showing off titles rather than playing. but achievements.... now that sounds more fun and can be done without spending too much money or having to join an elite HA or GVG guild.
edit; actaully, instead of title names, perhaps you could even display the number of people you have killed etc etc.
eg:
- I have resurrected 1367 people
- I have killed 467 Rangers
maybe it could be something that we can manually configure ourselves. A setting that we can choose to track certain activities and dispay them ingame. i dunno... the same way a Laboratory Information Management System can be configured to track the number of samples that have been exported and marked complete in the last 24hours. etc etc.
it would just be a Userfield in the database against a character or account and some .Net variables and maybe some scriptable rules etc etc

This should be the only title or achievement. Achievements are pretty much the same as titles. Titles and achievements do not add replay value to a game for the last time.

As I stated in that one, I don't like achievements when it was implemented on the 360, and I certainly don't like them now. Why? Because there's no reward for doing it except for bragging rights.
I am heavily reminded of a Red vs Blue PSA that was shown recently...
*pictures Caboose in Guild Wars (although much different), going "Beep-boop" after reaching Lion's Arch and a popup stating "Achievement unlocked: Reached Lion's Arch", but said popup is obviously poorly drawn*

The reward is doing it. Part of the problem with this game is all the new people want rewards for everything which is sorta against the core point of Guild Wars. Everyone is locked into a certain power maximum (level 20) and now we have to grind even more to be more powerful. They shouldn't confer any reward, because that makes it forced grind, which is against the core design philosophy of Guild Wars. Just cause ArenaNet likes to go against it doesn't mean I will.

READ THE OPENING POST.
I said there would be ONE title maybe but it wouldn't even count for KOABD (which defeats the purpose of maxing it for an "easy" KOABD title). Jesus christ. A title and an achievement is different, I went over that, and you're pretty terrible if you didn't even read the first 3 paragraphs. This isn't me asking for more titles, it's me asking for an achievement system. They are different in function and while similar in implementation, also different in it as well. These aren't titles, and if you took the time to actually read everything and figure it out, it's pretty obvious that they aren't and why.
Tho I agree with the people not signing it for not a seamless transition, that's because I didn't think up menus etc, just the base idea. I can always do that later, I guess. But I was thinking an Achievement tab in the H menu, I'll make some mockups etc later.
lol

For you.
There's already been a ton of people in this thread who say they play X game or Y thing for achievements because it gives them a series of mini goals to do. Just because they don't add replay value for you, doesn't mean they don't add replay value.

I, having an XBox 360, love to get achievements and see my gamer score go up
It would be really awesome if Anet did something like this, along with something similar to the "gamer points" on the 360
though I didnt read all of the achievements, I saw that you spent a lot of time working on this and U did a good job =D

The other issue to keep in mind is that for every stat a.net has to store for every account in the game, that takes up more server space. Granted, it would be a minascule amount of space for many of these, but if all or even half of those were implimented over the entire GW population, it would just be a lot more data for a.net to have to store.

The only thing I can see myself doing, really, is to add things to my Hall of Monuments. I mean, there are Achievements in the game ALREADY. For example, clear the Fissure of Woe or even complete The Deep mission. Those are Achievements, AND they add something to the game: A spot in the Hall of Monuments.
Still, for someone who doesn't like the Achievement system sure loves to add things to his Hall of Monuments... :-/

achievements r cool
but most of teh ones that u came up wit were pretty lame
and im certain would be too annoying to program (especially teh class specific ones)
btw titles and achievements r the same thing
jus a diff name
gw's "achivement system" is its "title system"
ur use of achievements is ripping off 360's "achievement system"
especially with its lighthearted and quirky themes
that would be nice to have
cuz most of gw's titles r boring grindfests
but boring grindfest is -not- a disadvantage of the "title system"
its jus wut anet chose to give titles for
do we really need both systems?
they already gave us the "hom system"
a 3rd "achievement system" would be 2 too many

you forgot time my warrior get owned by elementalist in a melee combat. :P
and time i use dinner as and excuse when i've gone afk or my mom made me do stuffs so I have to go afk :P
some are good, some will create conflict, like vanquishing and map 100% of the area without leaving said area... this is going to create 100 qq thread asking for it to be removed. since I for sure can't do that cos I already did most of those things and there are severals that is un-achievable because players already done it.
so, i am gong to sit on the fence with this one and also like to mention, i also rather have more content and mission/story added then things I'm already doing.

in all honesty i was about to just say not signed after seeing the word titles.
but really as long as these are only for show and give you no bonus, i think this was Anet's version of titles done right.
granted some of these have to be set a bit higher some lower, but the basic idea of it is what we needed not the current title system.
the only problem I see with it tho is that all the information for some of these to be stored, even account wide, would take a lot of server space.
if titles are in gw2 lets hope they use something like this.

I'll /sign for some of these as long as you can't list it like a title and it's just for your own amusement. (I know that's what the post stated, but it's worth repeating)
And in the spirit of ressing with other ideas:
"WTF hax?" (PvP): Dshot 100 skills while playing a monk

GW needs more to do in it, not one-off content (Like MOX, whose quest has a one-time fun factor then it's just a slog), so I agree we need something to do. Stealing the 360's Acheivement system however really doesn't feel the way to go imo. If, however, there was a /heal similar to /deaths where you can see "You have healed 259,830 points of health over the last 14 months" or something, it'd really give you some sort of gauge.

The 360 wasn't the only system that used achievements. I even think that they've done this on Runescape too. The achievement system is nothing new.
