Background:

Prince Rurick and his followers were not the only Ascalonians to leave their homeland in order to survive imminent Charr invasion... There was a small group of outsiders living in the southern portion of Ascalon during the time of the Searing. They called themselves the Cignatus. They had miraculously survived the Searing under the leadership of a man named Danilos Sargeta. He then took charge of the Cignatus and taught them a new profession. It was originally known as the Gambler profession, but the people decided to adopt their own name as their profession title. Danilos ruled over them with a steady hand and strict principles of devotion and self sacrifice. However, some of the people, led by a man named Nalteck Aldos, became unruly and frustrated by the strict leadership Danilos offered. They began to have public displays about their unhappiness with their leader and soon began to gain followers. They practiced their skills as Cignatus day and night, becoming stronger and stronger...

About two years after the Searing, the group of individuals raided Danilos' stronghold, quickly killing the guards with their sharp and refined skills. The entire fortress was cleard of guards even before Danilos was awakened. Two hundred men stormed Danilos' chamber, killing all the guards posted there, and dragged their leader out of his resting chamber. With a knife at his throat, Danilos was told to worship Nalteck as his leader, and to bow to him. However Danilos was steadfast in his belief that Nalteck would never be his king. When the group heard this, they tortured him until he died.

Two months later, Nalteck was crowned king. Danilos' killer was unknown. The colony of Cignatus slowly deteriorated under Nalteck's rule. He neglected the needs of the people, and focused solely on his own personal gain. All hope seemed lost when the once solid borders of their homeland crumbled under Charr raids. Then, when all that was left of their kindgom was the capital fortress, a miracle occurred. The goddess Lyssa came down upon the people and killed all of the invading Charr. She came to Nalteck, praying for his life in Danilos' old chambers and said to him, "You. You are the evil one who has brought this curse upon your homeland. It was you who killed Danilos, you who neglected your people, and you who wanted nothing but personal gain. For this, you shall be punished for all of eternity. Your mouth will never be quenched again, and your stomach never filled. Your body never sleeping, your feet ever walking. You will be stripped of your power, and never again use if to bring sorrow upon this land. You shall be chained to the highest mountain, always wandering, looking for a way out." At this the goddess disappeared and Nalteck was transported to a mountain, high in the Shiverpeaks, where he wanders to this day, trying to escape, but always being transported back to the summit of the mountain. There is no snow on that mountain, no food, and the ground is scorching hot. Only monsters roam on Mount Cignatus, and only the occasional dragon.

In the Cignatus homeland, the people moved from their burnt and broken buildings and migrated to the Crystal Desert. There, they roamed for months on end, until they found suitable grounds for a settlement called Amnoon Oasis. They continually create new outposts, but none of them last long because of the relentless winds and ever shifting sands of their new home.

Attributes:

Shuffling: (Primary) For every 3 ranks in Shuffling, shuffling your cards takes less time than normal.

Card Mastery: For each rank in Card Mastery, you do more damage with cards, and your attack skills in this attribute increase in potency.

Exposure:No inherent effect. For each rank in Exposure, your skills causing conditions and hexes and that help you regain energy become more effective.

Shillouette Magic: No inherent effect. For each rank in Shillouette Magic, skills that help you survive in battle become more effective.

Suffling Cards and Points:

Each Cignatus starts out with a skill called Shuffle Cards. Using this skill earns you 1 Shuffling Point. Other skills give benefits depending on how many of these points you have at the time of use. Shuffling could be a system much like adrenaline, but you dont have to hit your target to gain Shuffling Points (may need another name). These points go up to 10 like adrenaline, maybe 8 if you would rather it be lower. Once you have enough Shuffling Points to use an attack skill, just as in adrenaline, you may use them. However, differing from adrenaline, you can still use attack skills even if you dont have enough Shuffling Points. But, your points, posted next to your skillbar, will become red, meaning they are in the negative. While in the negative, your Card Mastery attribute decreases by 1 for every point of shuffling that is negative, and it takes longer to get your points up to where you need them. Basically, it takes two shuffles to get 1 shuffle point while in the negative.

Skills:

Shuffling:

Shuffle Cards: Skill. 5e/0c/5r
Shuffle your deck of cards once, giving you 1 shuffling point.

Draw: Skill. 10e/2c/20r/3sp
You gain 3...8 energy if you have more than 5 Shuffling Points. This skill uses up 3 shuffling points.

Slight: Spell. 10e/1c/20r/2sp
If you have more than 6 Shuffling Points, target foe loses 15...65 health, which is then transferred to you. If you have negative Shuffling Points when you use this skill, you gain 1 Shuffling Point.

Card Mastery:

Slicing Ace: Card Attack Skill. 5e/6r/1sp
This card attack deals +8...20 damage.

Pair of Queens: Card Attack Skill. 10e/8r/2sp
Throw 2 cards that strike for +10 damage each. If either misses or is blocked, you gain 3 energy.

Full House: Elite Card Attack. 10e/6r/3sp
Throw 3 cards. Each card strikes for less damage than the last, the first one striking for +10...14 damage, the second for +8...12 damage, and the third for +6...10 damage. If any of your next 0...4 attacks is blocked, target foe begins bleeding for 6...14 seconds.

All In: Elite Card Attack 15e/2c/20r
Lose half of your current energy and all of your Shuffling Points. If this attack hits, target foe loses 10...20% of its current health. You are dazed for 5 seconds. If this attack is blocked, evaded, or misses, you lose 20...10% of your max health.

Four of a Kind:Card Attack 5e/6r/2sp
Attack target foe twice. Each attack deals 25% less than normal damage, but if either is blocked or evaded, you throw two more cards that do not count against your Shuffling Points.

Joker's Wrath: Card Attack 10e/12r/2sp
For 4 seconds, your next attack deals 8...15 more damage if target foe is under the effects of an enchantment.

Ace of Spades: Card Attack 10e/1/2c/25r/1sp
Throw a card that interrupts target foe's action. If that action was a spell or chant, that foe is blinded for 4...12 seconds. If that foe's health was below 50%, that foe gains 3 energy.

Fresh Deck: Enchantment Spell. 15e/1c/60r
For 8 seconds, your regular card attacks deal +4...12 damage, but you also have a 15% chance of losing 30...15 health every time you attack.

"You Will Lose it All!": Elite Shout. 10e/45r
If there are any nearby foes, one of those foes begins bleeding for 10 seconds. If there are any adjacent foes, 2 of those foes become crippled for 10 seconds. If there are any foes in the area under the effects of an enchantment, 2 of those foes suffer from a deep wound for 10 seconds.

Exposure:

Seeping Joker: Hex Spell. 5e/1c/18r
For 5...14 seconds, the next card, spear, or bow attack dealt on target foe also inflicts bleeding for 5...12 seconds. If that attack is blocked, target suffers from a deep wound for 12 seconds.

Ace of Doom: Elite Hex Spell. 10e/2c/25r
For 7...10 seconds, the next attack skill requiring 2-3 shuffling points causes the target to be crippled for 10 seconds. If this hex is removed prematurely, the foe it is removed from loses 1 energy for every second this hex was active.

Slots: Spell. 15e/3c/30r
Target foe suffers from either bleeding, crippling, blindness, or deep wound for 3...13 seconds. If they are under the effects of an enchantment, nothing happens.

Lottery: Elite Hex Spell. 10e/1c/30r
If target foe is using a skill, that foe and all nearby foes are hexed with Lottery. One random skill is disabled for each hexed foe (this has a 10...25% chance of occuring). If this doesnt occur on any foe, your skills are disabled for 6 seconds.

Deuces Wild: Hex Spell. 5e/1c/15r
Target foe is hexed with Deuces Wild for 4...10 seconds. If that foe uses a skill while under the effects of this hex, that skill is disabled for an additional 8...14 seconds. If this hex is removed prematurely, the foe it was removed from loses 3 energy.

Blackjack: Elite Hex Spell. 15e/2c/15r
For 20...8 seconds, target foe is hexed with Blackjack. If target foe takes damage less than 21 times in this period, that foe loses 10% max health, and if that foe is under the effects of an enchantment, you lose 2 energy for every recharging skill you have.

Insightful Spades: Hex Spell. 5e/2c/30r
For 6...18 seconds, each time target foe attacks, they have a 25% chance to miss. Each time that foe misses, they also have a 25% chance of losing 2 energy.

Sideswipe: Elite Skill. 10e/1/4c/15r
Target touched foe's action is interrupted. If that action was a spell or chant, you gain 3 shuffling points and target foe begins bleeding for 4...18 seconds.

Deathly Grasp: Skill. 5e/1c/8r
Target foe takes 0...3 damage for every shuffling point you have. If target foe is under the effects of an enchantment, that foe takes another 22...65 damage.

Sillhouette Magic:

Gambler's Blessing: Spell. 5e/3c/30r
For every Shuffling Point on you, you gain 1 energy.

Wit of the Gambler: Elite Stance. 10e/45r
For 7...16 seconds, you have a 50% chance to block the next 2...10 attacks against you. If you come under the effects of a condition while this stance is active, this stance ends and all adjacent foes are blinded for 2...10 seconds.

"All or Nothing!": Shout. 10e/1c/20r
For 12 seconds, your next 5 attacks deal 1...8 more damage if you are under the effects of an enchantment.

Russian Roulette: Enchantment Spell. 15e/2c/25r
For 5...16 seconds, you have a 10...40% chance of gaining 2 energy every time you attack, but you also have a 50...35% chance of losing 5% of your max health every time you attack.

Binding Slots: Enchantment Spell. 10e/2c/30r
For 5...10 seconds, the next time target ally is the target of a hex, that hex ends and is disabled for an additional 8 seconds.

"Long Live the King!": Elite Shout. 15e/2c/45r
For 7...16 seconds, all party members within earshot and under the effects of an enchantment spell gain double adrenaline.

Blessing of Wastrels: Spell. 10e/2c/30r
For 3 seconds, this enchantment does nothing. When this enchantment ends, all foes nearby target ally begin bleeding for 8 seconds, and if target ally is not nearby any other allies, that ally is healed for 10...25 health for each nearby foe. This enchantment ends prematurely if target foe becomes effected by a hex.

Notes:

- All credit for this Concept Class goes to myself, and those people before me who posted about a Gambler profession.

- NOTE: Cards are now considered 'metal.' This makes them stronger and allows for a more realistic in game concept than someone throwing a paper card and inflicting a deep wound or bleeding.

Please give me your thoughts by either posting or sending me a PM.

The card system...dont like it. I love the concept but the system isnt right. I mean a different fight system for one class, does seem a bit 'out of the way'.

Actually. I agree with Pwny. Think of this as a secondary, that'd be very confusing. I'd just keep the fighting system as is and maybe make skills such as:

'Draw' - 1sec Casting, 5sec Recharge.
Skill. You gain 1...8 cards. Att: Card Mastery

And then from there the skills could work sortof like adrenaline, but without the hassle of having to 'hit' things. Intresting Idea. Work on it more so I can keep critizing ^ ^

well, my original idea for Shuffling was this:

Certain attack skills require you to shuffle your cards up to 3 times. The main skill for this would be Shuffle Cards, but you would also have Healing Shuffle and Energy Shuffle. For these two, the description would be: The next attack skill that requires you to shuffle your cards to use it heals your for 20...60 health/3...7 energy. This effect can only be applied every ten seconds, but this skill recharges in 0 seconds. (Therefore, you can use this skill like a regular Shuffle Cards, but the effect will only be applied once every time you use an attack skill that requires 2-3 shuffles).

However, this seemed very complicated, and I felt it might confuse the readers, and no one would like it, however, i will post this as an alternate idea for Shuffling.

All In: EliteCard Attack Skill. (25e/5c/60r)
Lose all your energy, adrenaline and cards. Target foe lose 25%...50% of his health. If this attack is blocked, evaded or missed, you lose 30%...55% of your health. You become dazed for 5 seconds after this attack. (Card Mastery)

Black Jack: Nature Ritual. (10e/5c/60r)
Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For non-Spirit creatures within its range, cards strike for +3...8 damage. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds. (Card Mastery)

Slot: Spell. (15e/3c/20r)
The target foe suffers from one random condition for 3...13 seconds. (Exposure)

Lottery: Hex Spell. (10e/1c/30r)
If target foe is using a skill, that foe and all foes in the area are hexed with Lottery. 50% of hexed foe's skills are randomly disabled for 2...5 seconds, and all of your skills are disabled for 5 seconds. (Exposure)

Thats all well and good, but this class doenst deal with nature rituals. However, it is a good idea, but wouldnt fit for this prof.

Lottery is kina overpowered, should be more like:

If target foe is using a skill, that foe and all adjacent foes are hexed with Lottery. One random skill is disabled for 8 seconds for each hexed foe (this has a 20% chance of occuring). If this doesnt occur on any of the hexed foes, your skills are disabled for 5 seconds.

Slot should be called Slots, and the description should be like this:

Target foe suffers from either bleeding, crippling, blindness or deep wound for 3...13 seconds.

I like All In, nice combination of damage output and sacrifice. However, it should be a little less overpowered, since PvP has so many blocking skills nowadays, and you would lose a lot of health that way, also, Cignatus' dont have adrenaline. Should be more like:

Lose half of your energy and all of your cards. Target foe loses 10...20% of its current health if this attack hits. If this attack is blocked, evaded, or misses, you lose 20...10% of your current health. If it hits, you are dazed for 5 seconds.

Thanks for the input though, ill implement these now.

Rating:

6.85/10

Suggestion:

Trap Cards
Secret Enchantments which would Trigger for a Conditional Effect.
-Enchantments you use on an Ally if that Ally is Harmed or Buffed an Effect would Happen.

Tarou Cards
Cards able to Support the Future happenings of the Battle.
-Spells able to Buff or Hex, Allies or Foes for the Upcoming Turn of Events.

Gambling
A Game of Chance, You and You're Allies take the Penalty or You're Foes.
-Gamble the Game to Win or Lose.

Monster Cards(Not really sure if this would go, Check my Sealer)
Monster Cards have the Ability to Trap Monsters and Summon them in Battle.
-Trapping Creatures of Nature then Release them to Aid you in Battle as Temporary Pets.

Shuffling(I may sound a Hipocryt but this sounds like a Preperation)
This is When Lysa decides
-Shuffling is used to Refresh you're or allies' Skills or Status.

Example:

Tri-Edge Shuffle
-Shuffle you're Deck, Three Cards are Randomly Recharged, If 3-1 Card/s is a Card Attack. Three more of you're Cards are Recharged.

But I do like you're Shuffle Idea Better that mine^^.

I would send you a Suggestion CC^^.
If you like, I'll wait for you're Reply^^.

That isnt what im trying to get at though, what you posted it more like a anime game of cards in a character. Im trying to get at a class that uses POKER cards to attack, hence the names of the attack skills. Plus, I just dont like Anime stuff. That idea doesnt fit in with what I had in mind. Also, why the 6.85?

Heres my thoughts on those attributes individually:

Trap Cards:

How would there be secret enchantments? This is basically seeming like Exposure, except Exposure uses hexes to create condiditional contions.

Tarou Cards:

Support the Future??? If ur thinking of a support line, thats what Sillhouette magic is.

Gambling:

What kind of party would want a person who has a chance of seriously hindering the entire party, hence some of the card mastery skills that hinder only YOU.

Monster Cards:

I dont want Yu-Gi-Oh..... That jsut wouldnt fit into the current gameplay, and probably wont fit into the gameplay of GW2.

No thanks on the suggestion CC, no offense, but i dont want a profession using Anime style stuff....

I wasn't thinking of Yu-Gi-Oh I was thinking of Sakura Cardcaptor^^.
Oh sorry^^.

For Tarou Cards it was just a suggestion for you to use Tarou Cards^^.

Trap Card Example:

Binding Curse Card
-For 5-9 seconds, Next time Target Ally is Struck by a Hex, The Hex would be Negated back to the Attacker and the Attacker's Hex will be Disabled for 3-9 seconds.

It doesn't Deal Conditions. Condition Dealing is the Job for Rangers.

For Gambling I was thinking of FF Slots or Etc.

BTW I have Eddited my Last Post^^.

ok, now i see what you menat and i like it better, i like binding curse card, but i think it should be called Binding Slots and change discrption to this:

Enchantment Spell

For 5...10 seconds, the next time target ally is the target of a hex, that hex is disrupted and if the foe casting that hex is under the effects of an enchantment, that hex is disabled for an additional 5...12 seconds.

Also, what do you mean by "It doesnt Deal Conditions?"

Lol, srry for shutting all of your ideas down so quickly, its just that i basically already have Tarou Cards in the form of Shillouette Magic and i dont want to copy something(Sakura Cardcaptor). But nice ideas, and please vote on which shuffling idea you like most.

I Like Alternate #1^^.
I meant It doesn't Deal a Condition(Burning, Poison).
It deals Hexes but if you want you may also add Conditions.

lol, i wasnt saying that Shuffling itself deals conditions, but the attacks the Cignatus uses as well as hexes that sometimes cause conditions.

Or were you talking about your idea?

In general, I think it's a bit confusing and unwieldy. The concept I like, but the attack system, I do not.

Instead, I would let them have unlimited ammo, like Rangers and Paragons get anyway, and make "Shuffle" an Elite Skill that recharges all your Card Skills.
