I agree, with the recent patch where your drops now show up as purple/gold, simply making the text show up would be awesome. Green text for a green item, gold for rare, purple for uncommon.
But what would be done for collector and common items?

Anyone have any ideas for what they should do for collector and common items? Sure, they can be shown as blue but that might get a tad confusing.

Green text is used for Guild Wars announcements, such as "A new build of Guild Wars is available...".
Purple text is used for Gaile Gray when ever she talks.
In my opinion it's a bad idea, because it is just a way to allow people to show off there weapons.
Guy1: "Im wielding a Rare Poisonous Recurve Bow of Marksmanship!"
Guy2: "Im wielding a Collectors Poisonous Recurve Bow of Marksmanship!
Guy1: "lol my bow pwns ur bow"
Guy2: "I paid less for my bow and its exactly the same, you wasted money"
Guy1: "tht means im rich"
Guy2: "Who said I wasn't rich?"
*Arguments ablaze*
*Things turn ugly*
Guy2 has left the game.
Guy5: "Great now we need to warp back to town and geta nother member!"
Guy3: "This new weapon rarity label system causes a lot of hassle"
Guy8 agrees.
Guy7 dances.
Guys 3,4,5,6 & 8 have left the game.
Guy1: "nubz"
Guy7 agrees.
That maybe a bit of a bullet-in-the-dark situation but I see it creating arguments between players. I dont approve.

Well, they added colors for sending templates for chats. Are they too lazy to add in weapon color text when you send your weapons/etc to chat? Seems so.

Actually, 'system' lines are not 'green'(like unique weapons), they are 'pistachio green'.
We have:
- White: Events, emotes, monument statues and common items without properties.
- Pistachio green: System lines (loot, rewards and certain events)
- Light Blue: Players without party in outposts. Common, crafter and collector with variable properties.
- Dark Blue: Players with party in outposts.
- Pale Violet: Uncommon (Is not the same as GM's purple).
- Bright Purple: Gaile talk.
- Limegreen: neutral NPC names.
- Green: Unique items and allied names.
- Yellow: Interactive objects. Frog talk.
- Orange Gold: Rare items.
- Red: PvP rewards.
- Gray: Items do not assigned to you.
As you can see, many colors are used not only of items or talks.
That leaves for items:
- Pistachio green: Senseless, they are system lines, most people unconsciously filter those.
- Limegreen: Maybe for Crafted items, but again not a good choice, since there are a lot of neutral NPCs in explorables.
- Yellow : Not very good, since there are a lot of interactive objects in explorables. But a good choice for crafter items.
- Brown: Something to consider for collector items.
- Dark Blue: PERFECT for either crafter or collector items.
- Bright Purple: Nah. Leave it for gaile.
- Other would be too similar to existing ones, like a dark yellow would look like gold.
That makes:
- Collector: Brown.
- Crafter: Dark Blue.
And then make then show names with colors. And done.

they could just make the weapon text color appear in the ping, then it would make golds more worth it over purple inscr's and people couldnt say oooooh check out my leet q9 dwarven axe (that they bought from the trader)

This would be abused and become a reason to ridicule other players. Like if I showed my Sundering Crystalline Sword of Fortitude, someone would surely pick on me because it's purple and req 10. No thanks, there's already too much exclusion because someone is not /rank 10 and such.
