Mad King
Please make it to where you can see what event NPCs such as Mad King
is saying even with local turned off.
I keep local turned off for a reason but to play the mad king games I have to turn it on then watch local get flooded with people telling lame Chuck Norris jokes or calling people noobs or especially peopel spamming "WHEN DO WE GET THE MASK" over and over.
Sometimes it gets so bad that I miss what king says and miss one of the commands.
And yes I know some people dont want to listen to King when you go into town so an optional choice would be nice.

Well, his speech pops up on the screen and lingers for some time, so you still have the opportunity to shut off local and not miss it. If you want to play his games and you're paying him even half your attention, you can still do it.

I agree completely. I would like to see the Mad Kings chat in an admin channel like Gaile's chat used to come up in.

it's not gonna happen, so try reading the speech boxes that pop up when he talks.

I dont get this thread, you can already see what he says when he talks with both local chat and emotes turned off , a huge box appears at the top of the screen that shows what he is saying ?_?

I think they should just add a pop up box in the middle of the screen that shows what hs is saying. In fact, they could even help people out by making all the emotes you need to do be in BOLD letters.
Oh, wait..... they already did that.....

Or they could do what they did with other finale NPCs (i think its the Wintersday ones) and make them talk in team chat rather than local.

Or they could just put it in team chat or something like that and you can stop being a ...I wont finish that.
Oh and fyi I'm in kamadan right now and he does NOT have a textbox above him so I have to have local turned on. And as far as the bolded part perhaps you did not read all of it like usual. people SPAM alot and shoves the text off the screen. How would this hurt anyone??? It wouldnt.

It might be nice to give him a special color, orange perhaps. But it is rather fun having other Mad Kings goofing off and giving the wrong instructions during Mad King Says.

For some it may be fun and for those people they can leave local chat on.
this wouldnt effect anyone that likes it the way it is right now but it would make it better for those who think those goofs you speak off are just annoying and would rather not have to see what they say.

Nothing more is needed. ANet did this from the start. I've always had local and emotes off during Halloween, yet somehow I never had trouble seeing the giant pop-up window in the middle of the screen. I mean, the text in the pop-up is: larger, easier to read, it doesn't share any space with any other server messages, i.e., favor, Halls, screen shots, trades, etc., and it's right in the middle of the screen. Unless you've gone into options to disable dialogue widows, which I'm not sure will effect the Mad King, there should not be a problem seeing what he says. I voted "yes," because ANet did this already.

Perhaps you did not get it. There is a HUGE BOX in your screen with what Thorn says, just like NPC dialogue boxes. He doesn't mean the speech bubble on top of his head. How can you miss the dialogue box? In addition, I've been to several events and with emotes and trade turned off there is more than enough time to read what he says before it gets pushed off the chat screen. Death occurs before his chat disappears. Anyway, just watch the DIALOGUE BOX.

Most people are too focused on their own characters or the chat box that they completely miss the announcement/mission dialog boxes that pop up in the middle/upper part of the screen. That's not Anet's problem though...pick your head up and look at the other 50% of your screen and you'll do just fine in events like these.

To tell you the truth I forgot about those dialogue boxes ive had them turned off for a couple year.
But still it wouldnt be that hard to do this anyway. They do it with other events. in big blue writing even with local turned off during the Dragon Festival they announce that the emperor is coming. Wouldnt be that difficult to do that.

It would be nice if he got his own private admin text, or even just team chat like they have for all the other festivals. This strikes me as a holdover from Halloween being the first ever holiday event.
