DYE mixing
Hi,
so i was thinking it would be rather nice if this option would be RE-added to the game , since i just saw a guy selling a mixed dye( i was not aware of this i started playing gw on factions release) i was like wow this seams really nice.
also, it seams this option was removed due to scamming ( but the dye it self reads dye mix: this and that color ) so i wouldnt think people could get scammed unless they cant read .
so why am i asking this because i want my bags whit dye combinations, might be stupid but i like some customization.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mixed_Dye
thnx for reading hope people like my idea
(and who cares if people cant look at your inventory bags ,lol)

The only reason to change the system back is for this. Past that, the system we have now is far superior. Plus, dying bags is pretty much useless, so I doubt any adjustment is coming.

Based on the principle if it aint broke don't fix it a partial return would be a back step forward, both in terms on improving the range of dye effects and pleasing players.
Back then what was needed was a way of seeing the dye effect before it was applied, we got that, along with a white dye.
What we lost was the added effects of mixing dyes and the effects of throwing dye remover into the mix.
I have also heard players say that black dye doesn't give as pleasing an effect any more.
Guess we should be careful what we ask for, because we might not be that happy when we get it.
Probably the best way to have best of both worlds would be to have a few master dyers as npcs you go to them pick a colour and he quotes a price and materials needed.
After all a professional would know what's needed to effectivly dye the various materials.
The very idea of the average character dyeing their own clothing is pretty bizarre.
Hopefully there will in gw2 be elite armours but also elite dyemasters who will for a price give you just what you want.

Bringing back mixed dyes would bring absolutely no benefit. Whatever one person can mix another person can mix the exact same way. You really don't want the old system back where you had to try many times to get the colour you wanted, wasting a lot of money and dyes in the process. Also with so many different armours that dye differently the whole idea of trying to sell mixed dyes would fail on so many levels. The only reason there is any market at all for mixed dyes is because they're rare items that can no longer be acquired in game, not because they're better than the current dye system.
There was never a market for mixed dyes other that some fools trying to sell gold dyes to noobs. Fools gold, literally. And you want to mix a white dye? Just USE a white dye! Your reason is only that you want to save a couple of plat while dying your bags. Sadly, you'd probably end up using just as much money testing the mixing of dyes just to get it right.
Dye remover was replaced by grey dye, and with the improved dye system there is no need for a remover since you can get your dye mix right first time or decide not to use if you prefer the colour it is to start with.
Talking about preferring the old black to the new black, the old black effect can be made with a mix, but I think you'll find very few who would mix a black dye with a grey dye. I'll give the example of my monks Sacred armour. I dyed it black years ago, then when the update came and there was the new black the old black looked very close to the current grey dye. The old black looks very washed out on most armours and it was at the request of the players that it was made to look more black than just a darker grey.

Although I liked more the dye result of the previous system, I like more the new way of mixing.
Bringing back the option to dye bags would be great, tho.
I used to dye the bags of each profession with their profession skill icon colors: E:red, W:Yellow, P:Orange, Rt: Cyan, etc...

I and a good few other people i know made some very nice profits from this, you'd be amazed what a white dye combo would sell for, even if it only works on some armors
mixing dye was a way to make money, it just took a little imagination
anyway on topic, as much as i miss messing around with dyes, this isnt needed - it just adds complications to a simple system

I'd rather say the system we have now is far from superior.
The ONLY 1 good thing about the new system is the preview window. Other than that the mixing is terribly bugged and lots of old mixes and even single colors are now completely impossible to reproduce. There have been over 10 threads about how badly flawed the new system is, so I don't want to repeat
Bring back old mixing.
Give us the option to use either system. The game engine can still render the pre-nerf colors perfectly. You should have the old code somewhere. Reapply it with some interface changes to allow single old colors as an option (maybe mix 1 color with a new Vial of Dye Enhancer or something)
