The Radar and Kids
Ok, this suggestion is based around trying to improve a problem myself, my girlfriend (and many others I know) have experienced issues with - radar abuse.
Typical example, I like to perma sin in FoW to unwind and have fun, with my good girl in the team too. There is nothing worse than trying to group the foes up and some idiot (or idiots) decide that either scrawling crude images/text on the radar (or just going Kindergarten with scribbles) makes aggroing and dealing with things that much harder. And invariably leads to party issues (as we experienced way too much for our liking).
So a simple, yet effective, method is to grant each party member's slot a colour. 1 through to 8, each of these is designated a simple colour. I would even say that the ability to ping on the radar is given this colour too. This way, all the party know who is doing what and the last part of the interface stops being anonomous. Ok, granted, there is not much people can do about whoever is abusing it but at least the person is identified and, maybe, a reporting option could be delivered/used for this type of abuse. The party bar could also be customised to display this colour (or leave red, dependant on the user's perference).
I know its not much, but at least it would identify people doing this and direct the party's frustration on the individual(s).
* If this has been suggested before, please delete or merge with the appropriate thread, couldn't find anything much though *

/signed if you can also toggle on or off a specific party member's scribbles (this would of course be only invisible to you).

Could just not do PuG's, I'm sure you can find 8 people you'd actually like to play with and would do it with you repeatedly.

I think only the party leader should be able to draw on the compass.

Only way that would make sense. Otherwise what are you going to do, yell at the kid making the drawings? That would be like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.
And /report'ing it just seems silly.

what if he/she doesnt know what they're doing?
ive been in many parties where the compass is used constructively, offing suggesting, pointing out routes, showing mob patrols and so on....

I would say the party leader can draw and ping on the radar and can turn on or off the ability for the party to do it.
Colours might also work but could be more complicated to program.
Would go for that if they ever allow AI replacements for missing party members.
Then you could id them and dump them.

Color would be an issue. I wouldn't mind having different colors for each member of the team, as it would allow for some nice communication. However, when the radar already shows a red dot for enemies, green dots for NPCs, etc. and you have a player with a similar red/green color - how do you know what is what? The radar uses a full spectrum of colors for the actual map, so what happens when you are in an area with a ground texture very close to your own marking color?
Easier to team up with people who know how to play with other people than to send the DEVs on a hunt to find a way to make this work.

no ping sound
no ping
no scribble

I'd love to have separate colors for radar drawings.
Even without the concept of obscene drawing, several times I've wanted to ask "did you want to go this other way instead?" So I draw a line pointing out the alternate path... and while I'm typing up the question, people start heading off in that direction, thinking that the party leader was the one to draw the path. It would be nice if we could say "ignore the blue lines, those are from nkuvu who hasn't done the mission/quest before. Watch the red lines, those are from Fearless Party Leader."

The root of the problem is not ability to draw on the compass, the root of the problem is that you are grouping with morons.
Even if this gets fixed, you are still grouping with morons and they will still find a way to annoy you.

What about something like this? Just expand that part a little and make it so the numbers show up depending on who is pinging/drawing. Would require a bit o work, but it should have been done a while ago.
