Please MERGE the Storybooks together
With the November 13 patch, total amount of Storybooks was increased from 4 to 11. If you do lots of events with friends and guild, you will probably end up with a whole lot of books not to lose any log entries. But 11 is far too much!
I do have a concrete suggestion on how to improve this. Create a "Compilation" covering ALL books, with each Storybook covering 1-2 pages. When you wish to turn in some pages for a reward, simply clear the entries from the book.
I can't see any disadvantages with that. Anyone who disagrees? I hope as many as possible can /sign this idea.

You dont have to carry the mission storybooks with you, all you have to do is pay a small fee for the entries if you dont have the book, I think ^^

Sorry, but they CANNOT merge them.
Book items, like 11 items you posted, and the Incubator, and Zho's Journal, and M.O.X.'s Manual, can only hold 18 items - or pages. The Dungeon Books and Prophecies Book already hold 18 items.
So, sorry, you can't.
Besides, why would you want to merge all 4 mission books into one? Then you would have to do all 4 campaigns per book you do.

Not merge. Just create an incubator-like item that holds books instead.

Well I already explained that in the first post, but I will quote myself on this:

So if you turn in the rewards for Hard Mode dungeons, only the hard mode-related pages are reset just like a new book, while rest of the pages remain unchanged. That is.. The book is never lost, only selected pages in it.

That's very close to what I suggested, just with a different appearance. I called it a "Compilation", you called it "an incubator-like item". Basically a book holding lots of books. Opening it will allow you to read each book's pages, appearing as one large book.
But yes, a "collection" to keep all your books in would be very useful. And while at it, might as well do an "armor" kit as well ;-)

I just don't understand why we can't "document" our conquests when we get to a town without paying a dude to fill in our book. If our book gets filled out during a quest/mission/whatever I assume our character is busily filling it out.
Give us a little library tab in storage that shows your current character's collection. Open up a book, press a little button to update, and you can put it in your backpack to take to the respective NPC.

I don't think it works like that, because the way they implemented the books is RIDICULOUS ("Oh, you already completed ___ and want to retroactively fill out a book? Well **** you, you have to do the whole thing over for some reason.").

Why they find the need for us to hold books in our inventory is beyond me. Just make it part of the GW interface.

I think it's funny that you think you need to carry around 11 books when only one is going to get filled.

We need book storage. We also have the BMP books now. I don't mind the merge idea, but personally I think a bag just for books wouldn't go astray.

This is... the most brillant, simple idea to fix this problem ever. Why didn't I (or a.net) think of this?
And Sayne Hawke, just because you only need to carry around 1 book at a time while doing the mission, you still need to put those books somewhere (ie storage). Otherwise, the only thing you could do is only play one game at a time and only keep one book active. Got a guildie that needs help in Factions? Oh, no thanks, I only want to use my NF book right now. Limiting game play options/content in a game that already has fairly limited content for an MMO isn't a good idea.

Exactly.. if you only play solo or with a few friends doing things together, then there's no problem. But if you're in a guild with many members, you *will end up with a whole lot of books even though you only need to bring one at a time. Either that, or say "no thanks" or simply ignore the book.. but then what was the point of creating them in the first place?
I don't care how they solve it, but I do hope they find a solution. Either..
- A Compilation (A book of books, each book covering a few pages)
- Book bag (ie. like Incubator bag only storing books)
- Storyteller NPCs remembering your progress without the need for books.

If you don't need to carry them to complete them, why do you need to store them until you complete them?
Just fill them by paying the NPC before giving them.

Doesn't work that way Mithran.
Try it, do a few missions and then talk to the NPC. He won't give you any offer to fill in any missing pages. Only EOTN books do that, and only one time I belive.

They make that anytime.
If the Campaign books don't do that, they should.

Fact still stands that books cannot contain more then 18 "pages."

The Incubator is in fact the same type of item as the books. And Variable-holding items cannot hold Variable-holding items.

This is the only way to create more space for books. Simply make a "Book tab" in the storage.
Of course, I'd rather have extra whatever tabs like the 4 I already have.
I find it funny how people managed with just 1 tab (even before material storage) but now people are having full storages with 3 times the pace and the material storage.
Also funny how there are 4 threads on this. Merge please.

I still don't see where that wild speculation is coming from. Supposedly it is some sort of limit to the amount of data stored per book, but that's just... incorrect. Its just dumb speculation by people who think they know how computer programing works, but don't.
There are way more the 18 bytes of data that can be stored per invintory slot, since if you think about it, weapons and armor that take up 1 slot have just as many (if not more) permutations as a book. An helm for instance has to store a) what type of helm it is b) what color it is (which can be a combination of 4 different colors) c) what rune d) what insignia e) infused or not f) the name of who it is customized to. That's just as much data as page 1 - yes, page 2 - no, etc.

From a programming standpoint, it makes absolutely no sense they would pick the number 18 as a limit. 250 for stack size I can belive because it's a nice round number close to 255, or 8 bit number. Besides, if there was a limit to max 18 "pages" as you say, it's simply in the software and the data. For a programmer, that's easy to expand, I could do it in my sleep and I can't create a massive game like GW. So surely Anet programmers could do that as well.
