New statue
Hey, me (Runner Hig in-game), my wife (Mrs Amby Hig) and some other guild mates were wondering if we can get enough people together (pikenites) to petition ANet to at least place a statue in piken square (American dist. 1)of Misstress Inferno's (real life name Linda) ele. She was the greatest and the original pikenite dancing ele who passed away the other morning in her sleep. (Nov 29th, 2008) I know some may consider it over-reacting, but many many people knew and were cared for, helped, or otherwise loved by Misstress who passed through piken or came in contact with any of the WuW clan or the RofL alliance. We miss you Misstress, and your hubby One Mean Grunt is in our prayers and thoughts. †

I don't see why ANet cannot make one of the tombstones in the top part of Pikan that you can't get to in Post but can in Pre a clickable item with her name on it.
/signed just to not sound like an ass.

oh, I didn't think about it in Pre-searing. She just always hung out in the right corner of that middle section by storage dancing like all ele's do with everyone, a tombstone is a great idea, if they could put her name and date on it, it'd be great!! I know she wasn't a dev or anything, but it's really impacted the "pikenite" community, and I know piken won't be the same without her, was hoping to preserve a piece of her there.

Sad to hear it, even though I have never heard of this person. Unless it was an Anet employee, I don't see much point in it. Many people have made major impacts on the game. I don't think each one deserves in game recognition outside of the people they played with.

Look at the (hostile and friendly) NPCs that are named after players. It's not unheard of.
The problem is that I don't feel that the game is a suitable medium for such actions. The other players that want to remember the player in question might as well make a webpage dedicated to keeping the memory of that person alive instead.

I have never heard of this person/player.
It's sad to hear but keeping her memory alive by some other type of formal and more personal event for thoes who knew her would be better then just let everyone take part of some event or ceremony that can easily be spolied by other rude players.
A site or guild gathering would be suitable since you people seem to know her.

Actually if you think it is appropriate I think there should be tombs in Ascalon dedicated for such purposes. I think Azazel idea is good. I think if it is done for one then it should be done for all.

Who the hell is this person? Not to be a jerk, but maybe this person would be here today if they spent more time exercising and living than playing a game, yeah?

I agree with upier. Sorry for your loss. I personally have never heard of the person or even "pikenite" for that matter... Better to do a guild-thingy to honor her.

Saying "Not to be a jerk" does not magically transform inanity into words of wisdom.....

Neutral on the subject.
An idea though: Add a ghost with her name somewhere in the afterlife. Some people won't feel comfortable if game is filled with "tombs" of real people... on other hand, NPC ghosts that tell their tale are quite common in GW.

I'm sorry to hear the bad news, but I'm /unsigned on the statue. I will however /sign for a future NPC or wandering character to be named after this person. Having never heard of/met/thought about this person before I just don't think something as massive as a statue is the right thing to do. Something smaller though I would certainly not be averse to.
Or...Add a GW graveyard as a new explorable area with no monsters! That would be a nice way to memorialize many people who have made an impact in this game, whether they have passed away or simply moved on.

I've never heard of her either, or a "pikenite". Judging by my response as well as that of many others my guess is that the Devs and other ANet employees will say the same thing.
Shes not the first person to play GWs and pass away, an unfourtunatly she won't be the last. I, myself, have an appointment to be creamated this afternoon at 6pm (Things just aren't going well for me and the were having a holiday sale, so I figured, why not?)
Valkyria has the best idea, I feel. I assume that her husbund(my condolences good sir) and her played together on seperate machines. Her husband could simply log her in on her machine, set her to dance in Piken and keep her logged in as much as he can for as long as he can. Then perhaps have a guild/alliance memorial there one day soon.

Exactly, the solution for CO2 poisoning is getting out of the house.

I so hate praising one person over thousands of others.
Also, this reminds me of the WoW funeral. I mean, would that person REALLY would like to have this kind of "attention"? "Rest in peace", I think.
Snow - Post something I'm talking about, but faster by 2-3 minutes again, and you will be more dead than Kenny.
