If you want a rank that bad join some unranked rspikes or hway teams, It isn't that hard to get fame

Not signed.
The first 180 fame points are far far easier to get then the remaining points needed for R9+.
If you need to exclude anyone over R3 from double fame just to get your bambi, you are worse then the elitists.
A better suggestion - add a new version of HA that can be H/H'd with an uncapped number of AI, limit fame gain as follows:
First two wins - 1 fame each
Next three wins - 2 fame each
Over 5 wins - 3 fame each.
Or award a single fame point per win in Hero Battles, and a single fame point for every 5 wins in arenas.

the idea of "you need rank in order to be allowed to get a rank" seems a bit silly to me. if a player wants to get somewhere in PvP, he has to grind at least g3 in RA in order to get into ANY organised team.
i can completely understand the position of high-ranked pro players, who rly dont feel like wasting their time with PvErs in desperate need of spamming bambis, who arent able to follow the tagret calling
on the other hand, there should be a way to get to serious PvP in a different way than after thousands of hours trying to get paired to a team with more than zero monks and less than three assas in RA

How about unranked players learn to play and PUG around a bit instead of trying to get ArenaNet to cater to their inability to do what everybody who has rank probably already did? I went from R0 to LOLTIGERCOPTER by joining random groups of scrubs and playing shitty builds to make connections that later got me into better groups running better builds which subsequently earned me more Fame which led to me being able to flash shiny emotes at people in PvE outposts. Anybody can do it. You just have to actually put the effort in. PvP isn't PvE, you don't get shit handed to you on a silver platter and pat on the back for running around like a chicken with your head cut off mashing random buttons.
TL;DR less QQ moar PEW PEW.

I held halls twenty consecutive times yesterday, and find your comment ignorantly offensive.

Rank is somewhat of a a replacement for knowing players.
I don't know you, but considering you have Rx you must know something about this. But... I'd rather play with people I know to be honest
Why this friend/rank filter? Because I want to get things done.
And about having no life when you can play about 2 hours continuous....
I've played long enough to be able to form a decent team for the things I want to do (not HA, don't PvP that often). That's because I know people and formed a nice group of players, some in guild, some friends in other guilds. Get them together and we get things done.
Same for HA, if you can get an experienced team together there is a fair chance you will be able to hold.
Message here: if you want to succeed in high end GW (if that still exists...) make sure others know you.
So all I have to do is find a spot where I have at least two hours and the others also have. If you can't make room in your weekly schedule for 2-4 hours continuous play, I'd say life is living you instead of you living life!

nice to see you again, but thats how it was maybe back in 06. the game is so dead right now that the highend pvp (ha/gvg) knows, well, everyone. just by looking at the name, youll know his rank, current guild, and last 2 guilds he was in.
if you dont know this random rank9+, good chance its ebay. no one just magically gets rank anymore without someone knowing who it is, at the least, seeing the name around in the HA post.
I dont do anything but Friends List HA, ill get a couple dozen whispers asking to monk for so and so for HA. For people who are unranked, and only want a rank to emote. go hway, rspike, rtspike, castigationway.
for people who want to have some good laughs and play pvp, then make friends. I know what avvare is saying when he said holding halls, every night my team will see [mad] and a few others, and we find more enjoyment ganking a team we know, because in 16 mins time, they will be right back in halls ready to gank us.

Been a few months since one of these QQ's popped up.
Little fact for the low ranked folks, those high ranked people, they got high ranked without and special "low Ranked HA Weekend" or a "whole seprate HA for Low ranked" and they all started out at ZERO fame, just like you and me.
Know what that means?
It means you should go and TRY and not beg ANet to hand you things, l ike they do in PvE land. You have no one to blame but yourselves for not having a high rank. Just give some effort once in a while, you'd be surprised what can happen.
P.S. I'm rank 6 and I'm rank 6 because I tried to get fame and did, then got bored and stopped in HA, I'm not rank 10 because I don't try, I've no one to blame but myself for that but you don't see me running around begging ANet to make it easier for me to get to r10.

Listen, the point of this thread wasn't just about extra fame for lower ranks, it isn't about "giving handouts". The point was to spark discussion on ways that would encourage people to PvP more outside of things like RA and AB.

And you think taking the ability to earn fame away from players that have put in the time to earn it for a weekend is going to encourage that? Really? I guess maybe it will, considering the only people who will bother playing are the people that cry when they get stomped by teams of good players that know what they are doing. Because the good players won't be playing. There wouldn't be any point in it; there is no "for fun only" in HA, and hasn't been for over a year and a half. It'd be a weekend shitfest of bad players beating up other bad players, mashing random skills on random terrible bars (or things that some brilliant PvE scrub picked up from PvX HURR DURR BEST SITE EVAR AMIRITE GUYS?!!?1) for what is essentially free fame. They won't learn anything. They won't gain anything, other than free fame for shiny emotes and chest drops that normally take at least some mediocre measure of skill or wit to attain.
Which is, in the fancy land of GW rainbows and sunshine, a handout. PvE players who want PvP rewards should learn to PvP instead of asking for it to be made easier for them to get the rewards that people who know what they are doing put a lot of time and effort into obtaining. I did it, Racthoh did it (except he went back to PvE after getting his gay Wolf whereas I was a manly man and stuck to the TRUE WARRIOR'S PATH), who knows how many others did it, and you guys can do it to. Just, you know...
Less QQ, moar PEW PEW. Go roll a Necro and join an unranked gimmick PUG or something, farm Underworld for a few hours if that's the best you can do. It's not hard.

Hey Shizno, been a while.
I know that the group of high end PvP players is small.
LotU had a small PvP episode back in 07 and got help from a former member (Ryan) a couple of times. At that time I had done about everything in PvP and was thinking of moving more to PvP. Our GL decided to abandon the PvP track and focus the guild on HM, which was about to be introduced. But I know from the few encounters with Ryan and some others that already at that time the high end was small. Enter HA, only to hear on TS or Vent: "that's that guild, they run X, expect to be whiped in a couple of seconds" was .... well ... enlightning.
My main problem with specially HA was that I didn't want a stupid emote, I wanted to learn how to become a better player.
And a lot of the people I teamed up with were just the kind of "I have Bambi, I'm king of the world" types. Well, nice for you but I know I'm not king of the world, don't care about gimmic-way and don't need an emote to show I'm better than anyone. I just want to learn to play better and gimmics or feeling better than others don't help.
That's also the problem with surgestions like 'low ranked HA weekend'.
Low end players consider losing from high ranked 'non-fun'. Why? They want loot and fame, not to learn how to play better. I think the best way to learn things is to understand why you fail and improve that. So learning means failing a lot.
And not just blaming others, it's a team effort.
But then, I'm afraid that it's too late for me to get into PvP in GW1. I might be able to learn the basics but it will take a lot of time to get rid of my PvE habbits and to learn how to read the field. I'm also not able to join a focussed PvP guild, so teaming would also be somewhat difficult. But who knows, perhaps you can /rank on me someday while I'm trying to figure out what went wrong
Edit: agree with Faer, who's posting I read after I posted mine

What if someone got into a r6+ team a year ago (when most of the F list was online...), proved to be more than skilled, but just couldn't grind e-peen titles? Does this mean I'm a bad player? Or that title means ANYTHING? Nope.
Or just doesn't want to lower himself to the level of a pug FotM for dummies with IQ 75.
Imo a weekend when Hero titles can't be shown and /ranks don't work either. This was people would maybe stop looking at few digits under someone's name and notice that a lot or r0-r3 players (well, I'm r3, but still...) just don't find it fun to grind HA non-stop for 5 hours to get few faction points.
For me, HA IS FUN, but only if I don't have to think "omg I still have few hundreds of points to grind in order to play with someone equally skilled or at least almost as good).

If you're skilled, go play with other skilled players. If you're not, go play with scrubs and learn and/or earn the skill you need. Really, really simple concept. If you want the rewards, but don't like the way you have to get them, then tough shit. HA isn't PvE. Either play, or don't play.
QQ, or PEW PEW. Your choice.

Why should you do it any easier/faster/more-level-fielded way than everyone that's already done it?
Agreed the rank setup/discrimination in PUG's is stupid, but it's really not the that hard to get your craved bambi and beyond. Get to know some people who HA or just play with friends.
If you can't do it you're doing it wrong, or may just have to face up to the fact that your bad.
