Um, Am I Crazy or is Holiday Blues Completely Useless??
I am having trouble understanding the move holiday blues. Since the game provides you with a pre-selected build when playing in these wintersday quests, you have no choice but to accept the build, which is perfectly fun to play....except the necromancer only move, Holiday Blues. I see no use for it. It would be awesome, but takes all your health to cast. There is no way to counter the 100% health loss.....that i can see and in the build, there is no rez. So...why is this move in the skill-set??? Again, with no way to rez and the health loss unpreventable, why did the move get added to the build. Can someone please offer some advice about using this move.

Go watch some Snowball ATS in Observer. -20 degen well is super killing power for a team that can snare/KD properly in a specific area.
Don't run it in 4v4 though. By the way, the res times aren't that bad, or this wouldn't get run at all.
Not a suggestion, /closethread.

Yo dawg we heard you like Holiday Blues, so we put a Holiday Blues in your Holiday Blues so you can have -20 degen while you have -20 degen.

umm, you die instantly from using this move, i know that it may have uses in snowball arena...but what about in solo quests like the strength of the snow quest? in the solo quests, the move needs to be cut down....like halve the health cost and half the time of the degen and stuff...and yeah, this belongs in here cause i'm sugesting that the move be changed to fit the needs of the solo adventurer, lol

You seriously want a PvE/PvP split of a skill that only exists two weeks out of a year and is intended pretty much solely for PvP?
Completely unnecessary.

I'm just obsessive, just like to know why these things are done. The one move isnt making solo questing harder, the quests are easy enough as it is, the absense of one move doesnt change that. Just like to know why..that is all.

yeah, the quest runs just fine without that move...just seemed odd that the programmers would not have made the move more useable from the git-go.

Here we go again its the pvp vs pve debate and as usual even when the pvp crowd are wrong they are right.
This game is neither pvp nor pve its both.
The Necro special skill is 100% useless in the pve game and so unusable in any solo quest.
How soon do you think it would take for the pvp crowd to start a thread wanting a change if the position was reversed.
Answer there is no unit of time small enough to measure such a delay.
Where there a snowball special skill that made one character class a nonentity in the pvp part of the game there would be an instantaneous outcry.

The six core class snowball skills were thought up before there was ANY snowball quests. They were created only with the pvp arena in mind.

The very fact that the necro dies upon using the skill is a little much ok so it has a use in team play, is that a reason not to alter it so all the snowball special skills have a use in the solo games of the festival.
My point was that if there was no use for the skill in team play at all there would be an outcry, if indeed it caused the team that used it to instantly lose the game.
Its an anomaly that should be fixed it should have been fixed last year its such an obvious fault that probably no one thought to complain very much.
I certainly thought they would alter it.
Anet created a team snowball fight with team skills, fair enough.
Then they created solo snowball skill missions and the necro skill fails totally.
Its a festival Its also Christmas a time to give presents and be nice to people even necromancers so just fix the skill.

Sounds more like ungrateful children: you give them something to play with and, instead of saying thanks, they complain that it's not easy enough.
Once again, there's no use for Mesmer skill, Paragon, Dervish, Assassin... even Ranger is weak. Why are you only crying about Necromancer? They roll everything already in PvE... maybe it is time for them to not be any better that professions stated above.
It's also time to enjoy your time and not go on forums and QQ about stuff. Btw, is it just people who farm The Strength of Snow that complain about this... where's the "Christmas spirit" in that?

I didn't start this thread I simply support the sentiment.
A stupid useless skill is still a stupid useless skill
Yes I know and have said the whole snowball skill set was devised for team pvp play.
Now there is a need for one of those skills to be made usefull "not overpowered" just usable in pve play.
Yes some of the other snowball skills are average but an average weak or just unpopular skill is not as bad as a skill with no use at all in the context of a solo mission.
If you look at the game in terms of pvp play only then I am pleased for you but that is no reason to call for a thread to close or moan about how powerful necros are generally.
The point is it should be changed so it has a use in both aspects of the game.
There are far to many people on this forum that want threads closed because they disagree with their views.
Unless a thread is abusive or becomes so it should be left to die in its own time which it will if no one is interested in it.

The thread is being misinturpreted...I only wanted an explanation of how this skill could be used...constant whining as to why the thread was opened caused it to escalate into this now. Please close thread. My question was answered.

Apologies to the OP for taking over and misinterpreting the thread.
Its true I am annoyed at the way the skill works and I do to a certain extent resent players who seem to object pve's existance or at least the right for a pve player to comment in any way.
Other than those two points Merry Christmas and a profitable Winterfest to all.

The skill was made that way because, when it was made, PvP was all there was.
The skill will not be changed because:
