Canthan NY a week long event
As Halloween was a long event (with the brawl) and Wintersday is a long event (both excluding Factions), I think its about time that the Canthan New Year is a week long event also.
Either The Canthan NY and/or the Dragon Festival should be week events - the Boardwalk is rarely open and although its often seen as the poor relation in the chapters, it deserves a fair share of events.
I just thought this should be brought up so anet have a month to consider it (if they haven't/aren't already!)

idk about the best event or not but yes i agree that it deserve the same amount of time as the other campaign events, specially since it aids so much in getting lucky/unlucky title.

For safety's sake on fairness, I'll support this. However, you have to keep in mind that you're not just counting the Dragon Festival and Canthan New Year in festivals held in Cantha, but also any Gamer/Boardwalk weekend that we get.

Holy smokes Batman, this just blew my fragile little mind!
Yes, yes, yes!
Although - I doubt I could afford it. A weekend AFK marathon costs some 200-300k - so a week-long would get near a million. And I am so not prepared for that!
So, I really wouldn't get much more out of it then if it's just a weekend-long.
I love the idea - but I'd need at least a few more months of very good predictions to pull it off!

We can't make one suggestion for each festival just before them.
Let's just make all four main festivals (those with decorated towns) have a minimum of 7 days of duration and done.

Racism!! Damn you ANET!!
Okay I'm j/k. But I would like to see Canthan NY extended, not just because of the free party points...oh yeah the gift dropping and picking up frenzy should be like in 2006...no more assigned to crap. Sugar Rush ftw.

/notsigned thanks to this post.
I highly doubt the main purpose of the events is to afk even a full weekend, let alone a week. Pretty sure that a lot of people would do it though, at least till their ressources are used. An afk week to kill activity even more? no thanks...you just spoiled all my support for Miss Drops Az's nice idea

They should just make Dragon Arena a permanent addition; just remove gamer points during non-festival times or something.

This, but add in the following things:
-One special mini pet (wintersday and CNY got them already) - Halloween can be a mini Mad King Guard and Dragon Festival can be a mini celestial Dragon (i.e., reskinned mini kuunavang). All rather rare (except the CNY mini as those are only one year each).
-At least one quest chain (Only Halloween needs one)
-At least one Tonic (Canthan New Year and Dragon Festival need them)

How about limit the time of the 9rings? In other words, only have the 9 rings (rings of fortune and dragon nest availible) during the weekend?

People would just afk on 16 rings instead surely?? Sounds also like more programming work to do that too.. Id prefer the time spent on another event quest personally...
Lets be honest, most of the people standing afk on the rings, wouldnt be playing elsewhere anyway, so it doesnt really impact the game apart from the server useage.
With the lack of gold sinks in the game, Id think a week of a money pit would be welcome.
I personally play games while Im here, then go afk during the night (16 rings as Ive maxed lucky... stupid unbalanced unlucky).

This.
I plan on AFKing the hats (the same way that I did on previous events) and that's pretty much all I'll get out of this special event.
Since it's just rehashed material - and bad one at that (or if it's not rehashed - it's just bad! Seriously, talk to 3 guys outside of EotN and complete the quest? Participate in a snowball-battle (something I HATE) - and you completed another?) - I don't see the point in participating. And considering that the events are notoriously laggy - there is even less initiative to play normal content during such events.
So it's down to AFKing and keeping my interest in the game or not playing at all and losing interest in the game and the franchise.
I'd imagine one option makes a LOT more sense to A.Net.
