New Skill Contest by A-net
It's the old, "Power to the players!" thing. Should A-net have a contest of what to add to the game?

Absolutely not. Guild Wars has over 1,000 skills, and many are poorly balanced. We have too many skills.

I'm disgusted that five people out of seven so far have said we need more.

In no way, shape, or form does GW need new skills. If new skills are to be added at all, ALL of the current ones need to be balanced.

Could be fun... but as others have said, more skills would probably cause imbalance. Maybe change it a bit, so that the new skills are PvE or PvP only.
Honestly though, I'd much rather have another design-a-weapon contest.

I say yes, and let me balance the skills however I see fit. Maybe then people will realize they could be doing worse than Izzy, i.e. following the community as a whole's ideas.
This is by no means an "Izzy is good" comment because he kinda sucks, but the community is worse.

NO do nothing, look at the icy crown, concept drawing was marvelous but adaptation O.o meh, reason being its not just: there you go, here, this is the best skill out of the million entry, go put it in the game, the process is more like (IMHO) here's an idea let see if it suit the WHOLE game. and then more discussion, and more testing then more discussion, then testing, then release, then player QQ, then nerf, then QQ and nerf, then players comes up with a skill contest idea.

i think the ideal thing they could do but i also think it would upset a lot of players but would bring a lot more balance to the game is to trim off the non used skills move some of the skills around so the non core professions have an equal amount that would make balancing a lot easier. and it would make the newer classes a little more desirable to play.

New skills, absolutely not. If anything, adaptation of current skills like they have been doing. Look at things like Aura of the Lich, Life Sheath, and Tease for skills that were changed, not added. I'd prefer they spend time balancing things, but in some ways, those changes are balancing. But NEW skills, good god, no.

For balancing? Maybe. At least on the skills that haven't been modified since they were made (and I know a good lot that needs attention). However, new skill creations? No! No, no, no! Not even for PvE. We have enough, leave the new skill builds for GW2.

Contests I'm all for. But no new skills. There are too many and most are imbalanced.
If contests exist, bring back some Design-A-Weapon, Brand-That-Boss, and some Design-An-Armor contests. Even a Design-A-Quest (meaning the lore/objectives, etc.) contest would be sweet.
Then take the winners of those contests (if all 4 are done, sweet) and implement them in the update after April (I guess would be August update).
The only Skill Contest I want to see is a "Redesign-A-Skill" contest where you take current skills and change their functionality or just simply balance them out.

why would they add more skills??? They usually only do that with the addition of more content (eg new chapter, expansion)....sooooo IF they were to add a new expansion I would be all for having a few more useless skills in my repertoire however, since there are no more expansions...no need for more skills.
Fix the ones we have please.

No more new skills plz! I mean look at the EoTN expansion, nearly all new skills were overpowered. If people want more content then the current crappy skills should change. But to make every 1000 skills balanced and equally used is beyond any normal persons' abilities.
