About Armor Customization
I know armor has always been customized to the character upon creation, and has been that way since the beginning of Guild Wars.
But thinking the other day, why couldn't we have armor customized to the account on creation instead of just the character?
Here's the idea:
1. All armor would be changed to the account name in one single update.
2. Instead of "customized to <character name>" it would say "customized to <account name>" (if the account name changes so will the name change on the armor)
3. Armor of another profession that doesn't match the one your currently on would be grayed out, unable to be equipped.
(This could also work for weapons, shields, foci, etc... )
I make this suggestion because I do have characters that have the same profession, but of a different gender/face and I've wanted to see what the armor would look like on them (so far I can only do this via the dye window). I know already that armor changes to whatever gender your currently using so I don't think there would be any issues on that. Also this wouldn't be OP for lower leveled characters, who nowadays either ferry to
Consulate Docks or get runned to Droknar.
I know a few you might say this would probably eliminate time and gold spent, but my question is, why spend more, especially if the profession it's
for is the same?
About ATS equipment, I know it's earned playing in PvP or though participation in the zaishen house and that it can be dragged into storage. I would think it should remain exclusive to PvP characters and that an update restricting PvE characters from using red text equipment should exist if an update like this could possibly happen.
Anyways good, bad, or terrible? I'd like to know your thoughts on this. If it would be to much to ask for, wouldn't work, or just unnecessary.

Reason: Changed "unable to be dragged" to "unable to be equipped."

your idea, if im understanding correctly, would only be good for ppl who have more of the same certain profession on an account. though i like your idea it only really benefits a select few...something Anet isnt going to go out of their way for.
but hey, whatever, its an idea id like to see

Actually this could be made to benefit a lot of people and solve a problem that's been whined about on here forever...
From what I can tell there's two reasons people start threads on here asking for ways to change a character's name: A) they've had the slot for a long time and don't want to lose progress towards birthday minis, B) they've put lots of money into the equipment they have gathered for that particular character and don't want to lose access to expensive weapons and/or armor. Something like this would allow customized weapons and armor to be put into storage, at which point the person can delete and reroll the undesired name without too much of a loss. Not the perfect solution, but it'd be an improvement over nothing I guess.

This is the first suggestion I've actually agreed with!
I'd love it if I could restart a character and not have to spend my hard earned platinum on getting new armour

This will certainly make some people buy more character slots.
That's good for Anet.
But they should not stop in armor. If customization can be done account wide for armors, it should be done too for all other items.

There are reasons I like the current system but they would take way too long to explain. Still, this is a change that would actually help players without handing the game to them on a silver platter.

On topic, i completely agree with this but it would throw off some of the basic structures of how the GW armor and character system works and I think it is way too late now that GW 2 is on the way

I think the current system is good enough for GW1. IMO, the only thing lacking is some kind of dedicated storage for armor.
